However the current president Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi did back then a military coup in 2013 to overthrow Morsi and he was successful but many of morsi supporters did a protest and many as a result were killed. Also Morsi was prisoned and there were many human rights violation about his prison conditions and he two years ago from health issues. So in Egypt's near history when you mention ikhwan it is a very sensitive topic. That's why the barber was hesitant and replied no no it's not ikhwan it's Quran.
