@@austriangroyper9308 jealous. he may well be the best dman in the draft. the overrated guys went 3 and 7. ottawa should have taken parekh, and anaheim should have taken demidov. but, verbeek's stupidity is montreal's gain. demidov and hage from round one is an excellent haul.

Zeev is the type of d man that could pull an adam fox. If he's not guaranteed nhl playing time to leave college early, he could easily stay in college and then sign elsewhere as an unrestricted free agent.
Most Canadian teams aren't willing to take the risk that high.
Lol, you don't follow the Wild. He's going to play at DU this year. He'll have an immediate spot on Minnesota when the NCAA season is over in April. He'll probably make the team full-time in 2025.@@DChappelle27
Anaheim’s pick was definitely something but Martin Madden hasn’t given me a reason to distrust his picks especially as of late.

second line upside, leaving lindstrom, demidov, catton, on the board, plus the dmen. sennecke will be a good NHL player, but you don't draft a 2nd liner at 3 when first liners are available. their pick was BS, in more ways than one.

@@jbunit2 no. carlsson was at worst the #4 forward of the 2023 draft. picking him at 2 was at least understandable.
@@jbunit2Carlsson was my 3rd pick, thats way closer to reasonable than a mid teens pick taken 3rd. He could be great but players with much higher floors and higher ceilings were on the board.

Also, If you think Sennecke has 2nd line upside you're a completely clueless about scouting and you should let the experts do their job, espacially Anaheim who have some of the best prospects in the league.

To declare a winner/loser based on selecting (or not selecting) one specific player is very shortsighted and dumb. You could've said Anaheim and Columbus also lost but no?

@@neeltheother2342Hawks made 3 first round mistakes. Levshunov over Demidov. Boisvert at 18th (a projected late 1st round pick) over Eiserman and Hage, and trading up to 27th to select a projected 2nd-3rd round pick. But yeah sure, "one specific player".💀

Just a small nugget about Hobey Baker award winners. Only one Hobey Baker winner has ever been elected to the Hall of Fame.
Paul Kariya is the man. Eichel and Makar have a shot at it. Neal Broten the first Hobey Baker winner I feel deserves to be there.
Interestingly Neal is the only NHL player to ever win the Hobey Baker award,Olympic Gold Medal and a Stanley Cup. Anyhoo I

I think the flyers trades were great. Was not thrilled originally but now seeing how many first round picks they’ll potentially have next year, makes me realize the plan is next year and I’m here for it

You’re one of the few people that said Jett Luchenko was a good pick. A lot of Flyers fans aren’t happy. I think he has a decent chance of being a sleeper. He was only 3 weeks away from not being eligible for the draft, great combine, good playmaker and good defensively…….oh yeah and his name Jett is on point

Last year thought they'd take Fantilli, not Carlsson. Beckett before Demidov was a surprise.

Luchanko is probably the center that fit Flyers the best. High motor, 200 foot, speedster who is pass first. He is young for this draft and tested insanely well. If there is more there you can see why they wanted him to feed Michkov.

Same. There was a lot on the upper screen shown in venue that wasn’t shown on the broadcast apparently. Plus honestly, no amount of pictures/video could even capture the experience of being there…

the habs getting demidov and hage are big winners as well. maybe demidov can be our first 100 point guy since 85-86. the talent is there.

If Anaheim trades down at 3 they wouldn’t get Sennecke cause someone would draft Demidov at 3. Columbus would follow with Lindstrom and Montreal would pick Sennecke 32:03
As a Capitals fan, I would have been happy with Chernyshov at 17, but he didn't get picked at all in the first round.
I'm also pretty nervous about Silayev coming to a good young New Jersey team soon. At least Philly went with Luchanko instead of holding onto their pick and drafting Buium. And I'm glad that Columbus went with Lindstrom over Demidov. I'm disappointed that we don't get to see Demidov playing alongside Bedard in a couple of years, I was really looking forward to that duo.
And San Jose ... wow. It worked out nicely for them.

You mentioned Beck Malenstyn played mostly for Hershey… He played 81 games for caps last year and had a pretty impressive year by most accounts

Pastrnak went 25th lol. You can't make any conclusions right now. There has been busts and surprises. We will see when they play in the NHL.
@@brandona9326 no one had leo carlsson out of the top ten. in fact, most people knew that leo going 2 was possible. in fact, the vast majority had him no later than 4. nobody had leo going ten spots ahead of where he should have, because there is no #-7 pick. it’s not the same thing at all, not even close. 2 and 3 were going to be fantilli and carlsson, the only question was the order.
you have a better case with mctavish, although most had him as a top ten. but he also has more upside.

I'll admit, this pick was way out of left field but his picks lately have all turned out well. I trust there was something he saw that he believes will translate to us more than Demidov. I'm hoping this is a win/win for both Montreal and Anaheim.
