The reaction Sennecke had was the moment of the draft
Him : No ****ing way 😮 -> Me 😂
He is a good kid, I loved watching him with the Oshawa Generals this year. He was their best player and he took a team that was ranked 16 out of 20 at the start of the year to an OHL final but he was hurt and London rolled over them
Yup, that was my highlight too. I loved that reaction.
I liked his and Parascak's reaction
Getting Dickinson at 11 was such an insane steal for us. Grier looks like a genius for trading up to 11 the day before.
I was so upset we passed on Buium. Then I did a bit more research 100% take it back my family are Oiler fans this dude is like Bouchard in his draft year, they questioned Bouchard's defense and skating and obviously you know Dickinsons skating is better then Bouchards, and Dickinsons defensive game is more sound in his draft year.
@@keatonjones4252Bouchard probably has the higher offensive ceiling but Dickinson is the most complete player. His skating is very good, his defense is very good, his passing is very good, his shot is good but could prove to be better with Bonk leaving the OHL. He was the 4th best player on my board
It makes sense no matter what. San Jose needs a 1A shutdown guy.
Not quite sure about an insane steal, highest he would have gone was 6th or 7th, but missing on buium is not ideal
lol Yea big Genius over there running the Sharks/the worst team in hockey
As a Flames fan, I am super stoked with both picks! But I gotta say, Sharks fans gotta be feeling ELECTRIFIED with how incredible both their picks are. Wow.
Celebrini Dickinson is wild to walk away with
Nah, it's Shark. Wild walked away with Buium.
Sorry, I'll see myself out.
celebrinidickinson would be an amazingname
@@BeegEazy Sennecke / Solberg and Demidov / Hage is pretty filthy too
@@mike04574 Or Dickinson Celebrini.
@1skcusebutuoy1 Dickinbrini
Great live reporting of the draft last night. Thank you!
I attended the draft live at Sphere - it was a very cool experience, they made great use of the Sphere graphics, the crowd was into it, and was a great show overall. I know they’re switching to a new format next year, but I wish they’d keep doing Round 1 at the Sphere. I’d absolutely go again, if they did.
Unfortunately it costs “too much” to do in person drafts nowadays
You can bet Dolan charged the NHL a premium to use the Sphere.
Bettman: No Sphere For You!!!
Feels electric as a sharks fan. I can’t believe Sam Dickinson fell to 11. Just wow. Future seems bright
You guys got 2 massive pillars last night. Enjoy!
and Chernyshov. Lmao... I'm a happy habs fan but Sharks has the best draft for sure. No way Chernyshov dropped that low
Boston picking up a 6' 7" giant 10 spots early is such a Boston thing to do
Not really. Boston actually went with a high upside player instead of the safe player. That's unlike them.
I usually play NHL 22 or 23 and to whenever I'm in Gm mode usually draft him because of his size and zone abilities.. (depending on the playthrough) usually takes me a couple of years before winning a cup with him
Wasn't 10 spots early but okay lmao
He might end up being good, but he played against trash competition. High risk pick there.
Reminds me of when Montreal drafted McCarron. Could be an absolute steal, or fringe pro. High risk, high reward and at that late in the round, totally acceptable
As a Sharks fan, I'm elated about getting Dickinson. We really need D prospects, and it really takes what was always going to be an incredible draft with us having our first ever #1 in a year with a consensus #1 to another level with us seemingly getting a steal at the prospect position I feel we needed the most.
More Norwegians in the first round than Finns and Swedes. Has to be a first?!?!
Yes. Norway have never had a first round pick before.
Actually there were as many Finns that got drafted here as Nords (2). Sweden got zip on the other hand.
Sweden is gonna be cooking next year
2 Norwegians, 2 Finns. Indeed
its cool to see countries like norway and belarus to produce great prospects
The look on Senneke was like the look on my face when Demidov fell to the Habs.
I'm so hyped as a Ducks fan! Solberg is a great addition
The commentators on the Sportsnet feed I watched said Zayne Perekh had told scouts if they draft him, he's all offence, all the time. I kind of respect a defenceman that admits and embraces that he's a specialist.
he will fit well in calgary with huska in charge he gives a lot of freedom with the young guys
That's a kid with self-awareness. Reminds me of the Paul Coffey rumor that before games he would say to his defensive partner "See you after the game."
as an habs fans i wont lie i was laughing so hard when ducks picks sennecke at third😂was a 50/50 with lindstrom and demidov after that cant be happier. ofc times with tell.
if lindstrom can stay healthly that guy gonna be a beast.
Ivan Demidov!
"Ivan Demidov?"
That's right--Ivan Demidov!
"Owner of the Demisdale Demidome?"
"Yes, Ivan Demidov! Owner of the Demisdale Demidome!"
I have always been a hockey fan, but your channel has made it more enjoyable even when hockey is not being played. Thank you.
We love you brother! Thanks for all your hard work every day, every year! Especially during this time of year!
Nygard could be a steal by Detroit, I love his game and his all round play has improved a lot in the last 12months. Isn't afraid of physical play either. Impressed me alot at the Juniors for Norway.
@@mjk06 His Mora played my team Djurgården in the HockeyAllsvenskan playoffs and therefore I saw him live a lot. Crazy work rate and intensity, never felt safe as an opponent when he was on the ice (that's in a very intense men's league) and also seemed like an amazing guy in interviews.
Will be playing with Axel Sandin-Pelikka this season in SHL as well.
Sharks are going to be loaded in about 4-5 years. Still can’t believe we got Dickinson at 11
I like the EP and Mckenzie comparisons. As always, good work.
Definitely enjoyed the draft being at the Sphere! I will definitely miss seeing all of the team war rooms being there in person making these picks!
as a London Knights season ticket holder and a die hard OIlersfan, I am very pleased with Edmontons pick 😁
Montreal did incredibly well today, wow. Demidov dropping to them, and Hage too. That's exciting
San Jose as well, obviously
But I just talked to a USHL scout who wouldn't stop raving about Calgary's night. He thinks Gridin is the steal of the day, and said that Boisvert has Gridin to thank for the year he had. I wasn't so convinced, but wow, big praise
@@Snakepit92 as a Flames fan, I’d love for this to be true. Love the Parekh pick, and the more I learn about Gridin, the better I like him. If we manage to nab Justin Poirier, I’d already call this draft a win 💪🏼🔥
@@jasonkh4 Ha, both brothers Poirier! Wouldn't that be something, I love it
Another bot, at least this one didn’t mess up the
@@Snakepit92 can’t believe we didn’t take the 50+ goal menace Poirier! But the good news is, nobody else did either. So hopefully this means we can just sign him to an entry level contract or take him in next year’s draft.
Catton was born in Saskatoon, lol. He played for Spokane in WHL.
I was shocked when I checked in on the draft from my truck. I did not expect Dickinson to drop to 11. Could not be any more happy as a Sharks fan!
Still work to be done.. but it was a great day for sharks fans.
Best picks at first glance: SJS Celebrini, MTL Demidov, MIN Buium, and NYI Eiserman
Greentree at 26 to LA too
@@mannyoliveira776 How did Chicago win day 1 exactly?
@@mannyoliveira776 Don't forget Badinka! Wouldn't be surprised if SJ nabs him with 33, though there are plenty of other names they could go for. I do question a bit if the goalies start getting picked in the second round or if they wait until the third.
@@mannyoliveira776 they didn't win shit lol, skipped on demigod and skipped on eiserman
How did Chicago win in any way??
Really happy the habs for Demidov but I'm so happy w got Hage as well. His father passed away this passed year and he was a huge habs fan. There was a lot of emotions in the interviews. He is very inspired to be the best player he can be.
You make a great point! A scout obviously is going to take a educated guess but you never know 100% how a player will be! So I agree I dont think we will know who were winners and losers till after they actually play or awhile !!
This is also my first year as a hockey fan and I chose the Anaheim Ducks wish me luck 😅
Very happy with the ducks draft. Sennecke is a home run or strikeout pick- but if he's a home run he caps off perfectly our core players! Right handed wing. They could afford to take that swing. Solberg as a bruiser defenseman was an awesome ending to the round since Mintyukov and Zellweger are offensive d-men. Exciting group of players in the O.C. !
@@coachwire8827 the ducks need right-wing scoring and stay at home d. What did they get? High potential right winger (best available true right wing as Demidov plays RW off handed) and the hardest hitting stay at home d possible.
Sennecke has a bottom six floor. Good defensively and on the forecheck.
Habs and Sharks had great first rounds. I was hoping my Flyers would land Dickinson, but Danny B couldn’t work a trade to move up to take him.
Surprised that Seattle didn’t take a defenseman. Howdy from Bellingham!
Thanks again, Shannon!
Shannon - thank Yvonne and you for doing the draft.
The NHL seems to always mess things up. The draft is interesting but not a 4 hour show.
I don't know why everyone is surprised by the Sennecke pick? Grant McCagg (the first guys who reportet the Ducks were going to pick Leo last year) reported 2 weeks ago the ducks were torn between Sennecke and Yakemchuk at #3. He also had everyone else in the top 5 right... 2 weeks ago.
Yakemchuk at 3 would be crazy
Totally agree. I bought his 2024 draft report, and it's quite a gem at 15$
I would love to see a video giving grades to each team’s drafting performance over the past 10-20 years. Sounds like a good offseason video idea for sure!
I thought Utah had a great draft. Getting two high character guys who both seem to have a rich NHL background should help the entire organization. Being able to call their dads for advice and support can really change the way the other players work and react. A+ in my book. I really would like them to sign a premium free agent, just for the locker room to have someone to lean on.
after day 2, utah definitely won the draft if you include the trades they made
As a Sharks fan I’m loving our draft 2 of my top players went to my team with the first pick in the 2nd round to go!
Grier looking pretty smart right now
hes cooking something special
As a Ducks fan i wanted Solberg so bed. Cant beleive they actually got him
As a flames fan I was chocked with Utah doin that to us
Utah is the second most-hated team in Calgary, lol.
I'm 99%+ sure that the Habs wanted Eiserman. Damn that was so close can you imagine both him and Damidov?!?!
Still really happy about both picks we got. We finally have THAT player that will lead our offense. Last time we had a 90+ points guy was like what, 20-25 years ago?
he was ranked 13-14 , surely they didnt know he would dropped to 20
Kent Hughes said in his presser that they traded up specifically to try and get Hage. That doesn't necessarily mean Eiserman wouldn't have been higher on their board and maybe they just didn't think he'd even be a possibility at 21, but either way, they got the guy they wanted when they moved up. He also said Demidov would've been their pick even if they had the #2 overall, so it really couldn't have worked out any better for them.
Alexandre Daigle was a demigod in the juniors as well.. Dont mean much in NHL tho
Ive heard that Eiserman gave the team a bad feeling about being about to play with MTL because of the fan pressure there is on the players of the Habs. I personnaly dont think they would have skipped him, or at least pick him for the value.
I would add that I dont think MTL need a finisher on the offensive, they already are Caufield for that and thats enough
Montreal stole the draft, Hawks missed BIG TIME.
Lol. I wouldnt say that
big time. people act like Levshunov solves Chicagos D but Levshunovs worst attribute is defense, he pinches far too much and needs a stay at home D on his line. He's not a #1 or #2, hes a great #3 like Seth Jones.
@@HawksPassedDemidovAndEisermangood thing we have a great defensive defenseman
Can't believe they missed Demidov, Eiserman and then traded up for a projected late 2nd to 3rd round draftee for a #3 D, a 3rd line center and a player apparently similar to Saad but weighs 160 pounds so idk how that works.
@@miltcoronado3392I would
For me, San Jose won the draft, followed by the habs and Chicago.
Celebrini, Demidov, Levshunov were concensus 1-2-3 for many.
Sharks have Celebrini plus possibly a top pairing 2 way D man
"Won the draft" 😂
How did Chicago win the draft??
@@KDXL6537NJoy Levshunov was a concensus #3, best Dmen in the draft. Boivert and Vanaker are offensive fowards both concensus top 30. adding 1 top Dmen and 2 fowards , all first rounders, is excellent
Just found you. And watched your stream. Thoroughly enjoyed your coverage and overall presentation! Appreciate your work!
It's so refreshing to hear your common sense and honesty compared to all of the mindless blather from all of the other media outlets, Skanes... Thank You
I think i am one the few ducks fans who liked the Sennecke pick because i am for Oshawa and have seen him play for the Generals
even though i had the ducks taking yakemchuk, i also like the fit
Like what Montreal is doing since Hughes took over as Gm,building draft capital.
The New Anaheim Jerserys are sweet!!! Love them
I always love looking at how teams with 2+ picks in the first round strategize
Happy with the Sharks draft. Hope they can continue it on the second day
I think LA did well they moved back got a 2nd and a 7th and still got a player they probably didn't think would be available
We go from never having a Norweigan drafted in the first round ever to 2
The Sharks future is starting to look quite bright.
Heard that before
@TheCrazyCanuck420 People only started saying that last year lol.
@copperfox45 uhhh no, I have followed the Sharks since they entered the league and high expectations are not a new thing with them. Luckily none of the management are around any more so perhaps this is the start of their sucess.
@@TheCrazyCanuck420 They had a team that should have won, so it's not strange.
KD is building a terrifying defense in Chicago. Hawks now have Artyom Levshunov, Kevin Korchinski, Alex Vlasic, Wyatt Kaiser, Ethan Del Mastro, Nolan Allan, Louis Crevier and Isaak Phillips in their system.
Very satisfied by both MTL picks, almost had my wishes in Demidov/Eiserman, but Eiserman got picked at #20 by the Isles (congrats great potential fit), didn’t know much about Hage sounds promising.
So weird not seeing Arizona on the draft board.
You spelled "great" wrong.
It was about time that Gary threw the towel in on that doomed experiment.
Who?
Better get used to it, they'll never get a new team
Wild getting Zeev Buium was an absolute steal! Him and Faber on the same line is going to be incredible
If you watched Guelph Storm games all season you would know why the Flyers picked Jett Luchanko. Solid, dependable player definite asset to the Flyers organization
he and surin are the same player, except luchanko is much smaller.
Shock llama, property of Anaheim.
It's not only what the different teams scouts SEE... but also what they are LOOKING FOR. Different teams look for different qualities in players, so obviously they will rate them differently.
As a Flyers fan, I like Luchanko and there were rumors several teams were upset that Philly picked him at 13, because they wanted him as well. He's 17, and has a long way to go. I was hoping, when Eiserman was still around at 18 that Philly would trade up to get him. Flyers need a natural goal scorer BADLY. Yes, his defense is very poor and you wonder how well he would mesh with Torts... but his upside is there, and he's exactly what the Flyers need.
BTW, great job going over the 1st round, Shannon.
Dallas growing their finnish mafia🤝🏼 I would’ve loved Ej Emery here in Dallas though!
Utah drafted the name.
As a Chicago fan it seemed like we drafted what we were supposed to and expected to, and then were scolded for doing so. IDK, I really don't watch non nhl hockey and don't even look at prospects until the day of the draft. The only sport I ever look at prospects is american football. Because of that, every other draft I just accept that the scouts must have seen something, and if it works it works.
Don't worry about the optics, taking Levshunov was never going to be as sexy as picking Demidov to form a dynamic duo with Bedard, but it's a good pick, he looks like he'll be a monster on the back end and just as important to winning games as Demidov, if not more so.
The problem wasn’t the people they picked, their 2nd and 3rd 1sts were slight reaches but still justifiable. The price they paid however is not, they gave up 20, 34, 54 and 61 for 18 and 27. That is a huge overpay to move up 2 and 7 spots late in the 1st round considering both of those guys could have been got with their own original picks without giving up 2 seconds. If they just picked Eiserman with 18 then it would have been 100% justified but they didn’t.
Ottawa made out like banderps
I am very happy with the Habs pickups today.
I think Flyers did okay with Luchanko. They obviously tried to trade up for Demidov but couldn’t get it done, and then almost had Dickinson fall to them, so then they settled for a fast two-way center with upside. Buium and Eiserman were the splashy options but I’ll give Briere the benefit of the doubt
As a Habs fan, I was worried about Columbus trading #4 to a team that wanted Demidov. Luckily their guy (Lindstrom) was still on the board, otherwise it seems like they would have traded down, which might have prompted Montreal to then trade down too, as they were getting offers for #5 but really wanted Demidov.
As a big jarome iginla fan, (2nd fav player ever behind only teemu selanne) sentimentally it was tough seeing tij off the board but I'm incredibly happy with parekh wearing the flaming C. Such a talent in his own right. GFG🔥
Can you please explain why there is a time clock to make a pick when 30 of the 32 picks went down to zero before they picked...what's the point of having a clock if there's no penalty
I think that timer is to submit the pick. You submit who you are taking before you get on stage and announce it.
Flames just got their PP1 QB for their next era. I can't believe Zayne Parekh fell to 9, insane talent.
He didn't really "fall" to 9 lol that's about where he was mocked.
@Canadian.Reacts More like 7th or 8th.
Close to no one had him top 5 lol
It’s very interesting how on the American broadcast Connelly had that incident not said. Overall I’m happy with what my Isles did for getting another second with a potential elite goal scorer.
For Caps fans, I think what Washington is going for with Parascek is chemistry with another one of their top prospects, Zac Funk. The two of them lit it up together this season in Prince George in the WHL.
Did you guys know that its important to have a second line center??
Who would have thought..
LeBrun reported the Hawks offered next year’s first unprotected and another pick for 4th overall and CBJ declined. Hawks could have absolutely potentially stole the draft if that happened
Sounds like they obviously were going to pick demidov with that #4 pick. Glad it didn't happen.
Always love the Twitter reactions to these things. People act like they would have been giving up a low pick for the guaranteed #1 or something. It probably would have been better for Chicago.
No chance Columbus would've kicked their first down the road another year and stalled their rebuild, they want to climb out of it ASAP.
Montreal taking Demidov and having Celine Dion announce the pick was the moment of the Draft for sure.
No
Underrated but this was a great first round for players of color. Love to see the game grow a bit!!
If Lindstrom's back injury isn't a hindrance, Columbus got a potential top 6 kid who is BUILT. 6'3", broad shouldered and strong at age 18. Talk about the potential for being tough to play against....
Demidov is a hab I couldn't be happier.
This Sennecke pick reminds me a LOT of KK. 3rd overall team passes on plenty of other players that were better for a fit;
Yep, either they'll look like genius or like dummies down the road.
The Habs should have kept KK on the farm team longer. I'm just glad he fizzled out in Carolina instead of Montreal 😅
Pronunciation for Washington's pick, Parascak, is Pair-a-sack
Love the Bruins pick. At 25 you take a chance with a high risk high reward player.
With Parekh and Brzustewicz both in Calgary's system now, they could have insane offense coming from the blue line in a few years. Conroy's cooking.
How crazy is it to have both of the ohl’s highest scoring defence men
Who are they going to pass the puck to? Very few good fwd prospects
Honestly didn't understand their pick. I know RD is a priority position, but I feel they had bigger holes to target given they already had Brzustewicz. Now two of their top five or so prospects are both offense-oriented RDs.
@@Stormie33 All the other options were taken. They've been trying to get a high end forward for a long time and are never able to.
Liked the trade horn that was pretty cool. Graphics left me wowed and amazed
MTL if they coulda got eiserman and demidov woulda been a crazy draft
As a Flames fan, I am very happy with day 1
Conroy swinging for the fences at 9; I like it.
Same
Pareck sounds like a franchise player. But I think Tij was the target I think.
What would have happened if Bedard yelled Demidov instead of Levshunov? Would they just roll with it or be like, "IT WAS A JOKE' NEVERMIND" ?
Well for starters that would be the last time he'd be invited to announce a pick
It would be corrected. When they say "the pick is in" that means the choice was sent to and approved by the league (read: no Taro Tsujimoto). Them getting up and announcing it is how the player, the other teams, and the fans are notified.
EJ Emery sounds like the kind of name that gets generated in an EA game when you’re drafting in GM Dynasty mode.
I thought the shocked llama was a donkey hahahah
thanks allot.. please shoot camera strait on the board.
Sharks finally made a good pick ❤
he'll bust
Really surprised there were not more sons of former NHLers in this draft since these players were conceived during the lockout year.
Do the Pens only have scouts at this point?
I was hyping myself up all day about potentially getting Demidov but I kept thinking that I need to be ready to be disappointed. NOT ANYMORE!! I’ve loved almost every single decision that Kent Hughes and co. have made, and this is the VERY delicious cherry on top. I’ve been happy with the entire rebuild process since 2022 and so far Montreal looks more interesting than they’ve been in a looooong time. Now it’s just a matter of turning all of these young players/prospects into a regular playoff team (and hopefully a Stanley Cup contender soon enough).
I can’t say that the rebuild is over but Demidov looks to be the last major piece that this organization needs. We have a pretty good forward group, an outstanding crop of young dmen, and potential starters in Dobes/Fowler. Obviously not every player will work out but they’ve done as much drafting as they can. No need to rush anything next season, but as soon as next summer it might be time to convert extra picks/prospects into NHL talent to fill any remaining holes.
GO HABS GO!!!!
Don't forget Hage too, he looks like someone who could be a great lower line forward who really would give it all to see the Habs win. Demidov is an elite talent and an absolute steal, but Hage looks like he was born to be a Hab and I totally get why Hughes traded up for him.
Go Habs go!
a lot of teams participating , in this first round .
like to see you do a feature covering the Avalanche .
That draft where they had , seven 1st. round selections !?$
Seattle first pick Berkly Catton was born in Saskatoon, not Spokane.
I’m still thinking the Leafs should’ve traded up to 10th to pick Sam Dickinson.
Given that they didn’t move up I like who they took
as a lightning fan i really loved this first round, i can't wait to see who we drafted- oh right
What types of forwards are there other than defensive forwards and power forwards? Like what kind of forwards are players like Sam Reinhart or Auston Matthews?
I like the Devils pick because they need more grit in the system, not flashy offensive defensive players
Ducks go upside at #3. True winger for Carlson/Mctavish in 2 years
was surprised at first but a quick look of his highlight videos made me understand their thinking. Crazy high potential
@@HumansAreFunny1 True but could have gotten him at like 10
@@teejay33955 Don't know that for sure as you can see yakemchuk moved way up maybe Ottawa picks Sennecke there if available and Ducks miss out on their guy.
@teejay33955 other teams were interested in him, we wouldn't have gotten him if we did that
Solberg was a good pick too
14:18 yo, imagine if the draft had 28 rounds.
