For anyone trying to learn how to muscle up the biggest tip I could give you is to work on the negative part of the muscle up just as much as the pulling up part of it. Great job man, i'm also working towards muscle ups inspired by ironically both magnus and mike so you're video has added fuel to the fire!! Starting off, forget about Radical Racc. All you have to do if you want to increase your amount of pull-ups is this: Start with chin-ups because they are easier. Arbulon Rexhepi we are talking about the average person though I would hope the average person exercises if you exercise regularly pull-ups should not be a problem
I do believe it really is a getting a feel for it. Today I walked into the gym did five of them! Unfortunately my gym does not have a straight bar so I'm using a slightly angled variation which I learned is dangerous. So I will be heading to Home Depot to build my own bar in the backyard. I will continue to train this until I can perform at least 10 strict muscle ups. After that, being able to hang on a 10-foot rim @ 5'9" and 500 lb deadlift. Still got a lot of work to do but setting goals and accomplishing them, it's probably one of the best feelings you can give yourself. keep up the great work man!! looking forward to the progress
@@GeekClimber Google "false-grip". It's a technique gymnasts use to make that so much easier. You basically have your whole wrist over the bar so you don't need to rotate your hand during the transition from pulling to pushing. You might still need to get more explosive pulling strength, but that technique really helps a lot.
I like your efforts dude. Congratulations, Very inspiring. I've lived a very sedentary like til now and I'm getting older (almost 60), however my goal is to be able to do 5 pull ups..just regular ones.
Good job! Ive had the same problems when i tried learning muscle up and i was like, where am i doing it wrong?!? i can do sooooo many pullups in a row but getting on top of the bar with both arms at same time is so hard! so the technique were the biggest problem but i learned it like 2 months ago and now im feeling great when doing it!
@by It's mostly about technique. If you can do a pull-up to your chest and a straight bar dip then with the proper technique you can do a muscle-up, but it's still better to get stronger first, because muscle up is one of those moves where you can wreck your shoulders pretty easily.
@@Benkkuful Why do muscle ups wreck the shoulders? Pretty sure a normal muscle up doesn't have the chest sticking out. Also, muscle ups do require a lot of strength. I can do 18 pull ups and pull to my upper abs/lower chest and I can't do a strict muscle up.
Wow wow wow! So incredibly proud of you. Thank you for this video, it really showed me how to throw my chest out and flip my wrist. I can do about 15 regular pull ups now, but today I'm going to go buy an assist band and get started. BTW I'm 64, lol. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Cheers!
The progression I only did for muscle up was making like 4x10 muscle ups with 2 resistance bands then 1 resistance band i tried to increase reps every other training to 10 and when I did 1 resistance band 4x10 I went without any resistance band and did 4x4 muscle ups. It took me 2 weeks though. Resistance bands learn you how the movement works
Yes, I am definitely interested in working towards the strict muscle up! It will be a long term project and I will try to increase my pull strength little by little.
Yes! I don't think I am qualified to give tips about training on the moon board but I will try to get my high level climber friends to do it, so stay tuned!
I never did muscle ups unill the gyms where closed and i had no other choise but to use calestatic parks to train. I learned it in 15 mins from the video you where showing. Ur first mistake is that you should've trained on normal pull ups min 10/15 and then 15 dips. Explosive aswell, basically waisted allot of days
This average guy learns the "kipping muscle-up" in 35 days. Not trying to be negative, but I have some general advice. The best way to learn any bodyweight exercise is to focus on form, you will likely be injured if you continue doing this version. I would suggest doing strict muscle-ups with resistance bands. Keep on lowering the strength of the resistance bands until you don't need it anymore, then do them with good form. Just a suggestion, but good effort!
Eh, resistance bands didn't really help for me. I learned the kipping MU with resistance bands and that was when I had almost no assistance from the bands. It took a lot longer for me to learn the strict MU even when I already could do it strict with very light resistance.
Keeping those flip-flops on is a skill of its own.

Arbulon Rexhepi we are talking about the average person though I would hope the average person exercises if you exercise regularly pull-ups should not be a problem
Weak people can do pull-ups if they have the right body type he obviously doesn’t weight lift and honestly is pretty average when it comes to build
You made me feel a million times better and saved me
a hundred videos to watch :”D You’re brilliant !
YESH YESH!
this guys happiness after doing it should make anyone happy
Man, I still remember the moment when I first got up the bar without the chicken wing. It was a truly amazing feeling.
Geek Climber you can tell just from the pure bliss as you finally got it! Keep it up!
Great video!Just did my first one yesterday. looking forward to the progression
Great job dude! I am working on the non kipping version but it might take me a while to get it.
Respect to this boyyyy. This video is almost 2 years old. Now you can do clean muscle-ups. 😁💪
now try a strict musle up without momentum, just from a dead hang. shit's on another level of difficulty
I think he could learn it in a few months since he probably has the wrist strength to false grip already.
I tried it without momentum and it felt impossible. I will need to improve my pull strength first.
Thanks for the pointer, Jami! I will look into it and see what false grip is.
Andre I have Done it was hard af
I like how you look like you are holding a certificate in your hands when you explain stuff
LOLLL 😆😆😆 your comments always give me a good laugh 👍
Thanks for sharing 35 days of knowledge and saving us months of trying the wrong approach or trying to figure it out.
Will try this soon!
Freaking beautiful, man. You're my inspiration.
Glad you find the video inspiring! Best of luck on your fitness journey!
Love the video and your enthusiasm! I’m inspired to finally get a muscle up too now 👊😛💥
Go for it dude! You got this!
Wonderful video. So down to earth and good focus on process/personal experience 😎👍🏻
This is more help-full than tutorials even 🤷🏻♂️👏👏👏
Haha this is definitely the easiest variation to do a muscle up. I had to piece together information from different videos.
@@GeekClimber i can only do the chicken muscle up 😔
nice work brah, go on interesting content.
srsly greetz from germany
So awesome to know that I have viewers from Germany! Glad you like the video man!
I just want tell you, that your video inspired me a lot man, am hitting the muscle up journey soon as i get back to gym. Thank you 😊
Great video! Maybe I should give the muscle up one more chance :D Congrats on the progression man, really inspiring.
Go for it dude! If you focus on it and be persistent I am sure you can get it!
The skill of wearing flipflops while doing muscle ups
Dude your video was the best tutorial to me by far on TH-cam, yesterday was my first time doing my muscle ups and it’s all thanks to your video 👍🏽💯
BE WATER MY FRIEND Congratulations! :)
Huge congrats!! That’s amazing! Glad that my video helped you!
I like your efforts dude. Congratulations, Very inspiring. I've lived a very sedentary like til now and I'm getting older (almost 60), however my goal is to be able to do 5 pull ups..just regular ones.
I highly recommend you give rock climbing a try! That’s how I developed my pull strength for the pull-ups.
Haha so cool that we went through a similar journey. Congrats on learning the muscle up!
Could feel your happiness as you achieved your 3x muscle up goal!! Well Done Man!!!
When i see this video, im just smile, it remains me when my first time i get muscle up, same like u, youtube ,training then youtube again.😁
Haha high five bro! So cool to know that you have been through the same journey as I did.
@@GeekClimber everyone struggle to get muscle up..😄
2:33 that blue guy dance...
Thats definitely green, maybe leaning on teal.
EttGlasVatten your probably looking through a bad lcd panel.. idk but it’s definitely blue and teal
Insane vid bro keep it up loved it
I literally did a muscle after watching this vid. I've been trying for weeks
Great job dude!!! Glad that the video helped!
Nicely done! But out of curiosity and gauging how average you are: how many regular pull-ups can you do before failure?
@by He says he does 10 easily, but I'd like to know his max rep :)
My max is around 13. I can do 10 "without a problem" but definitely not "easily" haha. I can feel the burn/soreness after 10 pull ups in a row.
Well done! I loved watching this video!
Glad you like the video! It's all about the dedication!
Moral of the story...
Technique, technique, TECHNIQUE!!!
...and slippers.
Yeah if you can do 10 pull-ups in a row then it’s all about technique!
I've been trying to practice muscle ups and this inspired me do much, also you are far from average 😊
Far below yeah
@@AndrewD. how many pull ups can the average man do?
You got this! If you put in the work I am sure you can do it!. I am rooting for you!
Cheers!
hey man! how you did?
Never give up and always say : "I can do it ! "
You are right! It’s all about being persistent!
Resistance bands learn you how the movement works
absolutely love the analytical breakdown
Thank you man, that was very inspiring, i literally watched your video yesterday, and done muscle up today!!!
Awesome job dude!!! Glad that my video helped you!
Congrats bro👏🏼👏🏼
Will you be training to achieve the strict muscle up??
Yes, I am definitely interested in working towards the strict muscle up! It will be a long term project and I will try to increase my pull strength little by little.
@@GeekClimber Awesome! Keep getting strong 💪🏽
i like you man, this video feels very wholesome and you've put me in a good mood, thanks!
Hey, any chance of doing a video about training and climbing on boards like the moon board ?
Yes! I don't think I am qualified to give tips about training on the moon board but I will try to get my high level climber friends to do it, so stay tuned!
"But how could that be?" *eyebrow raise*
Best moment
Haha I filmed that shot after I did the muscle up. In reality I was much more frustrated 😆.
Congratulation bro!! Now youre more strong , good job
Yes! I will keep on training to become even stronger!
Moral of the story: perseverance is key
You are absolutely right!!
I did it after 3 months of calisthenics guys! One muscle up!
Honestly these are so mind opening for techniques, i love these videos
Just found u out today I’m not that interested in rock climbing or muscle ups it’s just that ur coooollllll xd xdxdxd
Haha I think TH-cam knows deep down that you want to give rock climbing a try!
An experienced mountain climber is not an average person. Sitting at home watching netflix while snacking a pack of doritos that's a average person.
Haha I am sure climbers occasionally sit at home and watch Netflix while snacking a pack of Doritos some time.
Legend! Love the honesty and the determination to make it 🙂
I never did muscle ups unill the gyms where closed and i had no other choise but to use calestatic parks to train.
Gosh, it’s not strict but that doesn’t mean that it’s damaging 🙄
Not everything gets you injured when performed at simpler form...
@@mimixis It's usually bad for beginners because they don't know how to do it properly.
It was just challenge. I dont think he will continue to train any calisthenics move..
@@mimixis It actually is damaging. Hurts your elbows a lot. I used to do the same thing he's doing lol and it hurts
great man congratz for your muscle up result afterall , happy that found your video really helped me to realize my mistakes in technique
