The largest organ built up to 1900 in the Empire's largest Town Hall, and it was built at the end of the world! And the world's largest mechanical tracker organ is just down the road in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House.
In the 1960's and early 70's the combined churches choir under Richard Thew sang to this instrument - it was a joy to sing with this instrument accompanying us.
There's only two true 64' stops. The second is the 64' Dulzian of the Midmer Losh at Boardwalk Hall. Primarily a reed stop, but the bottom octave is made up of diaphones. Any other 64' stops are either resultants or digital.

Unlike the organs in Atlantic City and Sydney where they have full 64' stops. So down from the 32' octave to a full length pipe that sounds a 64' tone. Even the Midmer Losh was to have two 64' stops, one in the Left Stage and one in the Right Stage. One was to be a reed stop and the other of diaphones. Unfortunately the one of them was cut due to space, but the two stop tabs for the 64' Dulzian and the 64' Diaphone are still on the console. The lowest notes that sound for the Dulzian are diaphones. That being said the Midmer Losh is capable of producing a 128' resultant.

Back in the early 70s I played that instrument - but the 64' was allegedly locked against usage lest it destroy the mortar and bring the building down. Imagine Sampson bringing down the temple.
A myth! I have heard it played. On its first playing it did bring down some ceiling plaster in the new hall, but hardly a whole building collapse or the mythical shattered foundations.
It sounds french, it sounds german with his Walckerian “terzmixturen” and free reeds, and it sounds english, naturally, with his orchestrals...and high pressure tubas. And when you believe that is enough...here the 7th gear! 64’ Trombone! Definitively the eclectic symphonic organ for a contemporary concert hall, not a victorian XIX century relic.
Fugue State Films, Are every and all individual facade pipes real in the main case that's at the front and center? Also, could you make a separate video showcasing the ranks of pipes inside the three separate organ galleries?
Thanks for this very interesting presentation. One or two questions: what sort of action? what temperament (equal presumably in view of the presentation material) and pitch? (I do realize this excellent video is not for specialized viewers however!) It would be interesting to hear a range of national-cum-historic styles on this organ.

Most of the pipes are called "dummies" just for decoration and the BIG pipes on the organ are real like the 128ft is in the Facade.

I don't know the name of the piece but the Swell and Solo manuals were coupled to the Great.
