My question is, the full max power of the engine is apparently time limited, when you turn it on. How long does it have full power and how do you turn it on?
Awesome video Tucker! What an amazing experience to test with EM and ride with those dudes. I appreciate the honesty you give about the bikes you test and how you don’t just tow the line for any brand
If both bikes are stock, the em will smoke it! If the ultra is modified then yes that would be an interesting comparision! I Rode both the escape R and a stock ultra and the Em was a much better bike overall. Only advantage of the ultra is battery size. But in our ride we did not see much difference in the end.
@@crookedcoast1299 Althought the weight and KW makes them seem like similar bikes if you look deeper or try them they are completely different bike. The EM as proper motorcycle parts(that are easier to find), a physical clutch, a progressive regen lever and much better build quality overall. I mean for the price you get good range and power and a decent bike that will satisfy most riders. But for me 19-19 wheel with cheap chinese tire, a suspension that is nearly impossible to tuned and find parts for .The cheap alluminium casting that breaks on the first hit. Not to mention the jack shaft that is a bad concept that will inevitably have premature failure and a belt that will leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere. Shall I go on? @@TheAlskouba thanks, that makes sense. have an ultra on order but its hard with electric bikes as it always seems like something better is being released just around the corner.
Gear Select .. Clutch ..NICE .. in tight trails the gear select makes real sense .. you tend use one gear corner to corner with that much torque .. fit and finish looks good .. Nothing is rattling off ..lol
This bike looks like a real winner for anyone NOT looking to do motocross. It looks to have more MX parts rather than mountain bike stuff. Trails, woods, enduro and just plain fun without having to horse around a 220 or 230-pound bike. Plus, no need to do the additional $5,000 in Sur Ron upgrades to get it to function well on the trails.
Yup… I had to watch it a second time to make sure my eyes weren’t deceived. It’s little stuff like this that calls into question the build quality. What else did they get wrong?
Another great video! I sold my 2021 E Pure Race Trials bike to buy a Escape XR! It should be in this month or so...! I'm so stoked to get it! Thank you for the great review!
How much are you in for $$$$. These bikes are finally looking like a real trail bike. I could see getting one when I feel too old to pick up my 300 over and over, haha.
For everyone talking about the split link in the chain, they are installed in the opposite direction of chain rotation, larger more powerful motorcycles run riv links 😅😂
Hi electriccycler , do you have a review on the arctic leopard exe 800 or 880 coming up ? At a point of either spending a large amount of money on my ultra bee or sell it and purchase a exe880 or 800. Thanks
Today Stark would be my choice for moto ‘Em has great trials bikes I predict there will a lot of competion for the best enduro type electric bike , there are millons more people into off-road riding than the trials scene.
The XR looks like a fun bike to ride but the weight doesn't make sense. 10-20lbs lighter and they would have something. Being a F50 member so a bit biased, this bike's pricing is making it look like a super good value if the Dust guys come through.
The front sprocket looks unusually small to me… What is that eight or 10 tooth sprocket? I’m guessing that would cause excessive wear to both chain and sprocket.
Must electric trials bikes be noisy? I know some electric motors can be built to be quiet. How much performance would be lost? Would any trails manufacturer be interested in creating a quiet trials electric? It seems Electric Motion is now expanding into markets beyond trials racing so it is thinkable they would consider a quiet trials for those of us who would like to climb around in nature while not scaring away the birds etc.
It’s too bad this bike has basically ZERO hype or reviews (beyond this video). I have an EM trials bike (ePure Race) and it’s phenomenal. I’d love an Escape XR for hard enduro but the limited number of reviews and the lack of aftermarket parts/accessories support make me think nobody is buying this (or is interested in it) and I’m not going take an $11,000 gamble. If I buy a Varg or Ultra Bee and it doesn’t suit me, there are TONS of folks who’d gladly take it off my hands. I’m not sure I can say the same about this bike.
I think this bike won't be able to compete with the Ultra. The price is twice as expensive, the power and mileage are lower. And the clutch on an electric bike is not necessary at all
I would want a clutch. Having just throttle to regulate input? Especially in the twisty and climbs you need one. The Rekluse clutch on my gas dirt bike makes riding easier in many situations but you still need a clutch (your accelerator!) in the nasty. Or you may find your bike suddenly 20’ down the trail without you.
I have the 2022 Escape R. For the type of riding I do, the clutch is a must have necessity. The ability to store massive amounts of power and release in a controlled manner is unparalleled by a Sur Ron. Also the build quality of these bikes can’t even be compared. I’ve ridden Sur Ron’s for years and have done nothing but break them constantly. The EM I have doesn’t owe me anything and the only thing that has ever broken on it is a fork leg, which EM covered under warranty.
@@trialstrae2443right! The quality, fit & finish between the two isn’t even close! EM isn’t cutting any corners to hit price point. Does everyone need that? No, but those who want quality/durability or have disposable income will appreciate the option.
I rode both the ultra and the escape R and I can assure you that the EM is a much better bike. The clutch is not necessary but really nice to have IMO. You are right about the price but range is very similar. In our ride we did not see much difference in the range but a huge difference in climbing capacity and build quality. Remember you get what you pay for.
Saw the previous model in the showroom and it looked like a toy. Even the biggest battery is 3.5 kwh's. That should give you about 20 miles - no thanks. The dealer said they were shipped quite a few with inoperable batteries. I'm not sure who this bike is for with this limited power and range other than playing around a bit and the price makes it a real turnoff. Not sure this company will survive. Compare it to the new Artic Leopard line which looks to have so much more potential.
I'm sure they'll catch on. We want a diverse emoto market because that's what's going to drive battery technology to improve and price to go down. That's the dream at least.
Of course the quality of EM bike going to better then Sur ron. But Sur ron are popular bec every parts of bike can be mod that's why it's so popular and price everyone can afford. If someone is willing to pay at least $10000 for E-Dirtbike then go with top of the line Stark Varg if you going to talk about quality
I wonder if they have any plans to put this new larger capacity battery into the current escape r as well Edit: Also some nicer LED lighting on the XR as standard would be appreciated
