Great video John, nice to watch one in English finally! I’m excited for these bikes and happy to see EM evolving. As you know I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my Epure Race and it has taken all the beatings in stride. I can’t think of any problems I’ve had at all. These X and XRs are going to be awesome. Thanks for all you do for the EM riders out there. Can’t wait to rip on the trails 🤙
Great detailed review! I watched it even though I finally took delivery of my bike about 10 days ago and have 15 hours on it. XR is great in tight stuff!
John thanks for the video. I had a chance to ride both bikes, The XR on a mini track and escape R. On all kinds of terrain, I think they both awesome bikes and for the people who ride trials the escape R can do sections and single tracks as well. Basically it’s all come to your riding style and location. When he comes to choose a bike. But I definitely would like to try the XR more and do some hard Enduro.
Nice information. Not sure if I would want that clutch or not on an emoto and they are going for added $2000 for it yikes. Now for some ride reviews. Show us how and when you might use that clutch on some trails maybe do the same section with and without ? Thanks again.
Could you throw the XR forks, clamps, shock, and controller at an Escape R? A few grand in parts might be cheaper than sell Escape+buy XR in the current market. Weaker frame, but a good welder can help with that. Smaller battery , but either replaceable (or already good enough depending on local trail needs).
you can but yes the frame is noticibly stiffer on the XR so its a gamble and not factory recomended but you do what you wanna do. I did with no issues in my other vids. those tech forks were great.
Yes, trials based frames like these tend to be more open and foot pegs more back for traction so a taller person is more comfortable. It's the smaller guys that feel weird on it initially in actually. Look up Geoff Aaron 10x trials champion 6'2"
I enjoy and follow your page, but I have to add in my 2 cents here.... I am an off road enduro rider racer explorer for several decades and as mechanic, welder and custom fabricator who bought a 2022 EM Escape R I have to chime in with some real world perspectives... Gees- who is welding these?!....Those clumps called welds are embarrassing and no amount of paint will hide them. The added gussets are a bandaid for a proper engineered MOTO frame imo. Maybe next year they will have a redesign. Another issue I quickly realized is the cheap needle bearings used for the swingarm and shock linkage. Would have been nice to see NSK bearings instead of these cheap dirt sucking needle bearings that came dry as a bone from factory. Anyone with one of these - please immediately breakdown the swingarm, shock linkage, axles and steering stem and grease the heck out of them. Also make sure you loosen the motor mounts before you try and slide out the thin aluminum swing arm pivot bolt. Did someone say bolts? Also whats with the china cheap bolt hardware with nylon locking nuts? Or even one better, why the heck are they using phosphate metal tabs in place of nuts? This is what you expect to find on a kids toy. The quality of the hardware, the components and manufacturing on these 'bikes' looks great in pictures, but one you break one of these down you can see how cheap they engineered them. Made in France? Search for the replacement parts and you will see just what they are made of.
14:20 The front is tiny also. One more tooth on the front and 3-4 more in the rear will make the chain last longer.
7:25 Steering head design is reminiscent of an old S.E. Quadangle BMX bike from the 80's. Very rigid neck design.
Great in-depth review. I'm with you in that I dont' know why the factory doesn't have videos that are this in-depth but I'm very glad you did!
Thank you! Im blessed to have the opportunity from paradise !!

Do you think this bike is OK size for a 6-foot 200 lb rider?
