I feel like people think he's just being mean but when you think it through, that food is expensive, and his name is on the line when they go to try and serve badly cooked food, they're competing for a position that pays a quarter million dollars so he just has high standards and expects that, if you're gonna charge the customers and get paid that much, then you need to have your skills on point.

his mentor was even worse. and he used to be worse in real life (back before his t.v. career) he not only used to yell at his staff he used to hit them. he makes a few cry (really bad). But after seeing it on film he started working on it and calmed down.
His past was awful his dad was abusive to him and so was some of his mentors. (Aperently)
