- The 2024 Washington Seaplane Pilots Association Tanglefoot splash-in was a blast this year, and I tried to get footage of as many planes as I could coming and going on Friday and a little on Saturday.
Besides all the awesome aircraft, the atmosphere and people made this an event that I definitely want to return to next year!
Thank you to the WSPA and Tanglefoot Seaplane base!
My pop was a flight engineer in the Coastguard in WW2. He was a PBY guy until the day he died. He also was a member of the Confederate Air Force PBY that was in SFO until they took the AC back to
Great video! And no music. Thanks for posting. Those PBY planes are amazing! Thanks again.
Great video! Such a cool event
Thank you!
Can't agree more! 👏👏😎
Absolutely the coolest thing I've seen. Thanks for posting.
@@MrStoney61 thank you for saying that!
thank you for that video ,brought tears to my eyes especially the PBY cat. brought back memories.
@@davidnelson4707 You're welcome, and thank you for the comment, I really appreciate it.
that event looks like so much fun. so many cool old bird that you just dont see many of anymore in one place. looks like a seaplane lovers dream come true.
@@Rocker-1234 it was, it exceeded all of my expectations.
Brilliant thanks for letting the aeroplanes sing and not ruining them with music✅👍
@@MrSimpleone pretty much the only time I use music is if there's no good ambient audio. Otherwise I definitely want to hear the airplanes.
Just awesome...My dad and I got to fly in a Republic Seebee back in 1954 off the water in Strängnäs, Sweden. I never forgot...
@@andyg6312 those are great planes. Definitely a dream plane to own for me.
Fabulous. There are very few events in the world where the Spectacle is all in the arriving and the departing. :) Love Idaho.
@@AVMamfortas I only got pictures of the fly out to the beach in Mosquito Bay at the North end of the lake, but it was also quite a spectacle.
Awesome video! Too bad it's not getting the attention it deserves, but still great job!
@@KellanXB Thank you, I appreciate that!
That was really cool! I'm not a pilot or an aviation buff. In fact, I hate flying and I'm not sure how I landed on this page, but those machines are magnificent! ...especially the large ones. Thanks!
@@stevebeschakis9775 and in the case of these planes you can just float around in them like boats, so you might enjoy that!
Great video, thanks for the post.
Very nice, VERY Nice!! If you've seen the Luby Bay cabin (museum,) my Grampa built that
Great video! If you post it again on Sunday even the dates will line up.
Wow.....what a Great Video
Awesome work
What a brilliant video we don’t see anything like that in Scotland
Boy that was a great video. What a fun time that was for all. Beautiful scenery for the backdrop of the planes coming and going. Thanks much for posting.
with no stupid music to cover the engine sound
thank you
👍👍👍
This film is wonderful with the sights and sounds of all the historic and beautifully maintained float planes, terrific stuff many thanks. My dad was in the RAF in oban in the West coast of Scotland in the early part of ww2, and watched the Sunderland flying boats operating and training new pilots there, so great to see the Catalina too. I visited Vancouver island back in 2005 and saw the 2 Martin Mars fire fighting tanker planes there, huge and very impressive!!Cheers Peter UK.
@@peterlocke5204 one of the Mars will be making a last flight in August, I hope to witness it.
@@SimonButler Thank you Simon, I'll look out for that too and any video you get, well done and very best of luck!! I saw them at sproat lake on Vancouver island, their home base at that time. The people there made me very welcome and showed me a huge sikorsky helicopter that had just been restored to ferry people to the mainland Vancouver etc.
man I love catalinas
Where was the event located.?
@@kilr650 Tanglefoot Seaplane base on Priest Lake, Idaho.
Thank you from Amsterdam!
I live right by Lake Hood in Anchorage and you've shown me some very cool planes I've never seen up here. Anybody know how many PBYs are still flying? That Mallard is also really cool.
@@kixigvak I'm not sure, but I think there's less than 20 flying Catalinas/Canzos. And the really crazy thing is that there were 3 Mallards at this splash in!
Hmm...those plane are all wet.
Yes, and they dry out very quickly airborne.
What if it's raining?
wheres the sutherland😂😂❤❤❤❤
@@AlanMydland-fq2vs I heard a rumor we almost got an Albatross there! And I was hoping to see a Beech 18 on floats, but neither made the trip.
@@SimonButler awesome maybe someday
no goose?
@@AlanMydland-fq2vs a radial engine Goose, a turbine Goose, a Widgeon, a Gweduck and 3 Mallards were there.
Pity about the people talking in the background
@@Watson1 I picked up a shotgun mic for the future.
