I remember this HARLEM when I a child growing up.
Love this version. Archie Bell and the Drells too. Both just make me smile. The film is amazing too. Beautiful
I was fortunate enough to study with Chuck Rainey in the early '70's,and played this tune in my high school soul band, wow, what a groove over 2 chords👍🎶👊😎
This is a great video. I gew up in a suburb of New York City and immediately recognized it was Harlem.
The late 1960s were great times!
Thank you Nancy!
AWESOME!

1968 this is an amazing time in our culture The Black Panthers, James Brown, Black Power Movement……Black Love……I love it stay Black…..My People…..
The Great Bernard “Pretty” Purdie!!! The “Groove Master!!!” He was on a recording session at my studio in Brooklyn some years ago. Now my studio “Supposed To Music” always received compliments for the sound of the drums when recording. Well Pretty Purdie came in and had me swap the high and mid toms with each other and place the mics under them. When we played back the tracks, I couldn’t believe I was listening to the same drum kit!!! I learned an incredible lesson on that session!!! It’s not the gear but the person playing it! Plus! Purdie is a heck of a nice guy!!! It is one of my most cherished memories of Supposed To Music!!! ❤️🎶❤️👍🏾❤️
Video maravilloso. Quisiera haber vivido allí y en esa época.
Love the video. Tighten up will always be one of my all time favorite songs. ❤️👍
Mr. Bernard “Pretty” Purdue. Historically, The sweetest “sticks” in the music business!
Wow Love all that dancing at the end of the video. They had to be doing the Boogaloo dance which was huge in the late 60s. Wish I could hear what they were dancing too
This one has heart, mind, and soul. And it swings. Nice
Always one of my favorite renditions! Performed by masters of their instruments across the board. Years ago, I came to appreciate Rainey, Walker and Purdie through their session work. This actual audio is from a live performance and is available on YT if you want to see this masterpiece be performed. Thanks for posting this!
The gentleman in car went passed my old neighborhood in Harlem on 139th and 7th Ave. He went passed the old dance hall Dawn's Casino and Bar and Grill on the corner of 140th st . What wonderful memories !
