SALUT Jacob , I'm 59 and i live my dream to be a musician now ! Istarted 2 years ago and with almost no knowledge I joined the Conservatoire's class of instrumental composition in Lyon and I modestly but happily managed to write a composition for orchestra, played in public! Since I made this choice in my life, these are only incredible opportunities and encounters that are open to me! The proof I was at your concert in Vienna;) I appreciated when you said to follow his intuition, his body, whatever his technique. I do not know why but your music, (and others), sounds like part of me. I like it too much so I can do something else now! Thank you for your generosity and share the beautiful, the good, that music, and life offers us all the time, always. See you soon Marc
Marc! Thank you for sharing your story, what an inspiration! I am 35 and have for half my life wondered if it's too late to become a musician, having lived a life that turned out differently from my plans. Congratulations for your success with the orchestra and for living your dream and sharing it with the internet. I started taking voice lessons 6 months ago and they are truly life changing. I wanted to take up guitar too but don't currently have the means to afford it AND the voice lessons, and have just struggled self-learning. While we all can learn from Jacob's dedication and positive energy, I think Jacob may come across as more God than human, with the prodigious excellence he has demonstrated since he was a child, the four Grammys in his arms now, the kind of special family and connections he has, and the sheer wisdom seeping through his very being. Hence I think what really moves people is when we hear from someone who has lived longer in circumstances that were much less ideal for pursuing music dreams, eventually finding the courage to take that leap of faith and accomplishing something meaningful on the other side, however modest it might be. So there, I said it, your story has moved me. While I haven't decided to make music my primary career like maybe you have now (?), your story has helped me believe again that pursuing modest but meaningful goals like being able to perform well in a social setting, maybe accompanying my own music, and making friends in a musical setting are worth pursuing. Encore une foi, merci beaucoup d'avoir raconté votre histoire. Je vous souhaite tout le meilleur avec la musique et la vie. From one Jacob Collier fan to another, Grace from Indonesia
@@gcsusetyo Oh !! Thanks to you Grace ! I Your answer touched my heart. When your request is consistent with your values, what you really are, without even knowing it totally, the Universe whatever its name, respond generously to our dreams. This is true for all at all levels. Since this choice to change life for music, it is only incredible encounters and opportunities that are available to me! The "miracles" continue, it's a lot of work AND a lot of happiness! If you would like to contact me via Facebook or here. With my best thoughts. Well friendly. Marc
I went down the JC rabbit hole. So this is the IG live where he said there's no reason why we're alive, that we shouldn't take life's meaning too seriously and just enjoy the moment we're in now. If this is what Make Me Cry is about, there's just so much wisdom in it, and I'm sure some fans needed to hear that background message, myself included. Not only is his music a gift to the world, but his mind and heart and person too. A fan on the internet said don't meet your heroes, but he met Jacob and found the saying to not be true. I look forward to someday meet Jacob, and budget permitting I would love to gift him an Indonesian instrument from my mother's ethnic culture. I love this truly solo version of Make Me Cry and am truly mind blown by the logic session for the recorded version--even individual tracks give me the chills 💕😭💖
I recently had the wonderful pleasure of speaking with Take 6 at the University of Northern Colorado’s Jazz Festival. I asked them about what it was like to work with Jacob on Djesse, among other things. Claude McKnight said that “he’s the most musical person I’ve ever met. He’s like a mad scientist” I didn’t really understand that until I saw this vid. What a wild wild ride
15:42 bruuuuhhh omg. I need to get to this level!! I love the talks; honestly I feel like I'm following your footsteps unknowingly.. lol. I don't really consider myself an instrumentalist either, but I really love chords that could excite the lead vocal; which would be my owning my own voice, and my own sound; from all instruments/genres/eras. You are my idol, Jacob Collier!
No worries mate it'll be a smash. One of those songs that'll go down in musical history. I can see Walt Disney doing a cartoon with this song in it. Swizzeet!!!

It´s mirrored. You can see the keyboard in the background and the pitchwheel seems to be on the right side but all keyboards I know have it on the left side. So let´s leave the backwards keyboard to Joe Zawinul, may he rest in peace.
@@Nexder14 but 8t doesn't look like it's mirrored. The drums are also in the same place that's seen in the "with the love in my heart - breakdown" video from him. There the piano also just looks fine like it's supposed to be.

Thanks for the heads up. ☝

Hello bocaJ
I’m confused, why is the video mirrored?
i think that happens when he uses the front-facing camera on his phone.

the piano in the beginning confuses me. hes palying to his left but the notes get higher?
