    Love this! It reminded me of a joke an NPC made in Assassins Creed: Origins:
    “Greeks invented threesomes, and Romans added women to it.”
    As a lover of both the men and the women it made me chuckle. 😅

    The first unambiguous mention of homosexuality in history is from an assyrian law code tablet, where severe punishment is prescribed. Most greek city states also had laws against sodomy, some going as far as handing out capital punishment to gay men

    Actually, there wasn't an ancient concept of being "gay". Words for homosexuality didn't even exist until recently, even the word "homosexual" is relatively new. "Gay" is just as new in use for homosexuality. Prior to then, the words just expressed sexuality, eros (someone is good looking, male or female), and masculine and feminine elements. Today, the litmus test for being an exemplary woman is still be considered erotically attractive (and thus the need to cosmetics, alluring hair styles, and sexy clothing . . . for males, the exemplary example of manhood is still to be a masculine work horse that never tires, or equally strong warrior. But during ancient times, youth was the age of being attractive, both genders. Plato expressed erotic attraction for both genders in the age of their youth, but also said with his Athenian character that non-procreative sex should be shamed by society (and that elder lawmakers should take great care that youths never find out what they were trying to do, else they'd have a conniption [from Plato's Laws] ). As for cultural control today, there are less laws but more "norms" for gender control. It's well known know that government isn't well liked when it mandates human farm husbandry policies, like the laws that put homosexuals in prison (including World War 2 hero Alan Turing). Those laws were complete catastrophe and both failed to control homosexuality and put the government into the role of playing dictator with folks private lives. That's part of the reason why LGBTQ+ terminology grew from from simple "gay" terminology: There had been a huge unexpected backlash against culturally ridiculing folks for being "gay" (which was a sissy shaming term used even more frequently on innocent school children than it was on homosexual men) So folks started "coming out" as gay everywhere. Then that sort of normalized the term to the point it became far less effective at shaming school boys for not embracing their gender roles. We all know that during the 60s, 70s and 80s boys proudly sported long flowing attractive hairstyles, all they while proudly straight. Many youth want to be viewed as attractive more so than strong work horse beasts. Nevertheless, with the advent of LGBTQ+ terminology, "attractive" hair that covers the ears is considered non-masculine nowadays, just as homosexuality had once been banned homosexuals are now liberated in freedom. So why the change in more restrictive hairstyles compared to the 80s, despite "gender liberation"? There are now more effective terminology words like "queer" or "transgender" that scares little kids to the point that they want to make certain everybody understands, "I'm a boy, not queer or transgender" etc. And that's the whole goal. All those terms spread by big media using big budgets, and none were grass roots terminology that sprouted up due to popularity. The popularity of terms like "gay" and "queer" today only holds because other cool terminology is effectively censored by big media. It's a big media requirement that homosexuals be gay and queer, in other words, and not cool or hip, and if they are, then, well, they'll never get on the news as a civil rights quests, or be a character in a cool movie. The answer is "big media" and "big budgets" that's where LGBTQ, sissies, and all the stereotypes come from. And culture is an echo chamber, the cool stuff gets muffled, the gay stuff gets amplified for all to hear over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over . . .

    It is very surprising and interesting to know especially the Spartans. Just to share, In old times in my country, it is a blessed to have a gender fluid member of the family because they have greater understanding and just like other colonized countries, they make them look bad through religion.

    I’ve met far too many people that think homosexuality is a modern phenomenon. This video just goes to show that culture has a much bigger impact on the way people think and exist than a lot of people realize.

    • @glvine3355
      @glvine3355 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Homosexuality as we currently think of it is a modern phenomenon. The orientation model is a 19th century concept proposed by Karl Ulrichs that suggests ‘people are born this way’, whereas historically speaking sexuality was more so regarded in respect to gender expectation.

    The ages of less restriction lead to times where it got outright banned. So don't go out making love in front of children, and the next generation might get to be gay as well.
