When Eric looks at Christine, he loses his "tough-guy" gate and becomes honestly sentimental and emotional. He is literally trembling with love, and I think Madam Giry can sense it.
Juliette Aurora Same here-- #TEAMPHANTOM ! What can I say? He's probably feeling competitive around Raoul--or any guy who would have also loved Christine--something's that's not uncommon to relationships today.
I JUST REALIZED HE WANTED HE WANTED PIANGI TO LOSE WEIGHT SO THEY COULD LOOK AS SIMILAR AS POSSIBLE SO THAT NOBODY WOULD SUSPECT ANYTHING WHEN HE TOOK HIS PLACE
Fun fact. In the original stage version, Piangi's disguise-costume in Don Juan is a large black cloak, covering him from head to toe and can conceal the wearer's true face and shape. Which is why no one recognizes Eric for most of Point of No Return. Christine only recognizes Eric when her face touched Eric's right temple.
This is definitely one of my favourite scenes from the movie because he points out the flaws we all see in the other people, then shows that even the woman he loves has flaws. But he's so much more gentle towards Christine that you barely notice it.
This scene means so much to me! I think it really shows the love between Phantom and Christine. 1. He waves the sword at everyone except Christine, (he puts it away when he starts to talk to her). 2. At first she is afraid (for good reason, we know he's nuts) but when he really looks at her (3:12) the music shifts and she calms and moves toward him on her own. 3. She is shocked when he rips the necklace off, and for a second almost looks guilty. I think if Phantom was more gentle with her and slightly less intense the could have been together. But his seperation from society is what caused a lot of his issues and he never learned any better.
+McKenna West I love the music in this part, I really think he was trying to get a different point across to the others, but did not need his sword to get it across to here
I love how the No One Would Listen music plays in the background. (for people who don't know what that is it is a deleted scene from the movie) It plays right before he yanks the engagement ring.
I absolutely adore how he's just so mocking and aloof and subtly insulting everyone like: Carlotta...You're a terrible actress. Piangi...Man, you really to lose some weight. Firmin, André...You two are *fools.* Chrisine...You're ok at singing, but you still got a long way to go. (flashback to Christine singing think of me) You can hear the smirk in his voice, and I like how the music at the beginning of his song is timed perfectly with his walking, it makes me want to describe his steps as menacing. HE'S JUST SO DAMN COOL IN THIS SCENE, OK?! Also... *swishes dramatic red cape*
Plus it helps that Gerard Butler never looked handsomer than here. Patrick Wilson is easy on the eyes too, but who would choose him over Gerard, even if half his face is damaged (and let's face it, not too badly). I'd take half that beautiful face over an entire undamaged one any day!
i love how Raoul first thought when Erik come out was to get his sword so he could protect Christine. you see his eagerness to protect her through out the movie
ADdison Hunt That made me like him much more! Although I did laugh at first coz I didn't understand what he was doing like "u okay Christine? Yeah? Alright. I'm leavin it on you. Good luck with the bad bitch"
Completely off topic, but HATS off to the costume designer for this film.. AM I RIGHT?!?! Also, is the score that plays before "Why So Silent" available?
The one con about the costumes is that it’s all mainly black and white, not enough color, but I understand that it’s mostly to make the Phantom’s red death costume stand out
My sentiments exactly! It is sheer perfection for me. Visually, it is stunning. Butler’s acting is superb because it is subtle which is necessary for a film musical.
I wonder what would have happened if Eric didnt see the ring (or she didnt have it). What would she have responded with?? Cause it looked like he had her under his wing untill he snatched the ring.
I have watched this many times and each time,I notice something else. The young dark male dancer at the front is wonderful. Once one has noticed how brilliant he is, it’s difficult not to watch him at the beginning of this video. x

Honestly if they do another US tour of Phantom they definitely need to merge “Why So Silent” with “Notes” because the notion of Erik just roasting everyone to their face is way more badass.
Phantom: If pride will let her reach unto me, her teacher. Her teacher... Meg: So this crazy person is the guy I so desperately wanted to teach me to sing so I could be as good as Christine?!?!
"Every face a different shade..." I don't know about you guys but I'm just seeing a lot of white, black, gold and silver... there isn't exactly a wide difference of shades here.
100% sure Madame Giry knows everything and is tired of all the Opera members' crap so she doesn't tell anyone. You can even see her smirking in some scenes . She might even be in love with Erik (only in this movie).
I just noticed something. . . Almost two minutes into it, Raoul is just like "Bye Christine. Your on your own." I mean isn't he supposed to be protecting her???? Not leaving the moment the phantom shows up!!!
I have some questions... 1) what does he mean by "your chains are still mine"? I know what he means by "you belong to me", but I'm confused about the first part 2) why does he just up and leave, lol. You'd think he'd at least take Christine with him
just realised the people with the half black and white mask have the white on the right side, the phantoms mask is on the right side dunno if thats ment to mean anything just thought to throw that out there lol
I listened to Love never dies and regretted it deeply. I'll never see Erik the same way again urgh why. I love him as the phantom, not the ....average Mr Y (like what kind of name is that?) gah why
Oh my gosh…. Ur so right girl! Like, why does the phantom own a freak show?!?!? That doesn’t make any sense!!! And they also ruined Raoul. I know he’s kinda annoying, but he does love christine. He’s not a drinker
1:00 the red death costume on broadway was so much more cool. It looked more regal, powerful, and strong. I’m not saying I don’t like this one, it’s just…. Doesn’t shout red death. That is probably because they tried to make the phantom more sexy thus making his costumes more… romantic. It’s just…. Uhhhh 😢 The other red death costume was more iconic
i think in this scene when the Phantom appears as Red Death , he's saying to them " You didn't invite me , so i crashed" then he tells them that instructions must be unbreakable or else someone dies
When the Phantom first locked the door to Christine's room, why do you think Madame Giry watched and did nothing? Do you think she felt it was time for Christine to meet her teacher?
It's like looking at a black and white Venetian Masquerade Ball. Lame😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒 where's the color?? Where the spinning yellows?? Where's the grinning reds?? Schumacher, you really screwed up *BIG TIME!!!*
I think it is a great contrast between the dancers in gold, black, and white and the Phantom when he appears in RED--to shock them all. also--The movie had Webber's input and approval so I think ALW was ok with this color scheme.
When Eric looks at Christine, he loses his "tough-guy" gate and becomes honestly sentimental and emotional. He is literally trembling with love, and I think Madam Giry can sense it.
YESSS!!!!! SOMEONE THAT AGREES!!! :)
Juliette Aurora And then Raoul shows up--"Wait, what am I doing? I need to be a tough guy!" *grabs engagement ring*

I know!!!! He'd been beaten all his life, constantly reminded and hidden because of HIS flaws.

They should do a love never dies film with the same cast
Navid Namini God no
YES PLEASE!!
Please no.
they're all too old now.
We don't speak of love never dies
100% sure Madame Giry knows everything and is tired of all the Opera members' crap so she doesn't tell anyone. You can even see her smirking in some scenes . She might even be in love with Erik (only in this movie).
I just noticed something. . . Almost two minutes into it, Raoul is just like "Bye Christine. Your on your own." I mean isn't he supposed to be protecting her???? Not leaving the moment the phantom shows up!!!
Raoul just like: Oh, is that the man you talked about?? I remember, you sang about your fear... So, that was nice, bye!
He is protecting her! He went to get a sword belt so he could fight the Phantom.
@@pillypuppy666he could have used his hands, or taken her with him. Also, he took too long to get the sword
I like how the musician's score jus suddenly changes to that tune when the phantom appears and the musician's jus gonna let the rest die with them
if i was christine at 3:19 i would've changed everything and ran and hugged him
Same...
Same…
Very nice 🥰
CHRISTINE SAY SOMETHING
I hope I'm not the only one who thinks Brendon Urie could be the phantom.
Theatre squad 2003 He really should be!!!!!!! He'd be great!!!! He's got the voice, the sexiness EVERYTHING!
Holy fuck...SOMEONE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!
I can relate to the phantom I'm just as lonely as he is
Τελειο. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have some questions...
1) what does he mean by "your chains are still mine"? I know what he means by "you belong to me", but I'm confused about the first part
2) why does he just up and leave, lol. You'd think he'd at least take Christine with him
Same question
@@mageofdoomsie1598 ooooh got it! Thank you SO MUCH!!! That makes so much sense, and was very well explained, thank you 😊
That he still has control over her
In broadway, he says,” u will sing for meeee!!”
I remember everyday I would turn on this video and smoke a fat joint...good times
That was sad when he ripped the necklace off.
just realised the people with the half black and white mask have the white on the right side, the phantoms mask is on the right side dunno if thats ment to mean anything just thought to throw that out there lol
wouldn't it be funny if when Erik ( phantom) took christens ring and he went to turn and she said out loud BOO NO and took it back
Rachel Petro no it wouldn't.... It would be creepy
Are the pit musicians actually playing for the phantom? Like did he fuck with the score?
When he says the name of his opera, he pulls out his sword. Why, why does he do this?
he wanted to be a dramatic bitch
1:00 the red death costume on broadway was so much more cool. It looked more regal, powerful, and strong.
I’m not saying I don’t like this one, it’s just…. Doesn’t shout red death.
That is probably because they tried to make the phantom more sexy thus making his costumes more… romantic.
It’s just…. Uhhhh 😢
The other red death costume was more iconic
i think in this scene when the Phantom appears as Red Death , he's saying to them " You didn't invite me , so i crashed" then he tells them that instructions must be unbreakable or else someone dies
*Society when Covid 19 pandemic ends*
The Phantom was gone for only a few months and they threw a whole party to mock his style.
1:02 Why so silent begins
Raoul just seriously dipped
When the Phantom first locked the door to Christine's room, why do you think Madame Giry watched and did nothing? Do you think she felt it was time for Christine to meet her teacher?
Cause madam Giry is a mad woman
*GHOULS*
*GHOULS EVERYWHERE*
And to think, this is the same guy who was a bounty hunter with Jennifer Aniston and a criminal mastermind Vs Jamie Foxx with that great singing voice
How did Erik just DISSAPPEAR INTO THIN AIR?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Raoul went to the bathroom.
you know Vincent Price did the red death back in the 60s.
For a second I was like “why the fuck is Raoul just walking out with his fiancé in arms reach of a lunatic??” Then they cut to him grabbing his sword.
Christine should of chose phantom instead of raplh
Where the fuck did Raol go?
Erik Lehnsherr to get his sword I think
Beatrice Levi I notice now.
Jean Guy Joseph
Booboo Stewart is the Phantom of the Opera
It's not healthy 🤣
Shutup haters

THUMBS UP if you're here because of Ashley Tisdale's Masquerade song.
워후 sexy
Shutup haters
Why has he to be a Partykiller? The song was FANTASTIC \={
Why collide notes 2 and why so silent!? Notes 2 is so intense, why change it? It was good how it was, also that red death is just...no
It's like looking at a black and white Venetian Masquerade Ball. Lame😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒 where's the color?? Where the spinning yellows?? Where's the grinning reds?? Schumacher, you really screwed up *BIG TIME!!!*
Stfu hater
I think it is a great contrast between the dancers in gold, black, and white and the Phantom when he appears in RED--to shock them all. also--The movie had Webber's input and approval so I think ALW was ok with this color scheme.
Get out haters
@@rachnathakur7321haters of what? This lame movie? Watch the 25th anniversary. There’s a BIG difference
@@billandmonicaschleicher9018 I have watch 25th anniversary can't you understand the difference between movies and Broadway
This Red Death costume is terrible!
Your face is terrible
Broadway was sooooo much better
A quien le gusta esto esta mas aburido que los partidos de los rayados

This escene is so... borred, uncolour, unmagic, only I could save some things
