Prayer is the key that opens many doors that otherwise cannot be opened. Through prayer, God gives us an opportunity to ask and talk to Him. He knows the outcomes, but He allows us to have choices.

Erm, yes, just like Satan had, the choice, to revisit heaven, or present, his asinine opinions, about how loyal or not, Job was, too?
May I then ask, how, he - a fully premeditated, conscious, traitor, could do this, @mattmoeller1105 ?
Whilst most humans, for just being, descended, from two semi ignorant, Eden, traitors - cannot?
Also, did He know, outcome, of leaving Leviticus 25, around, in any long term way... or, of the Inquisition?
And slave, trade. As some of that, would apparently, take more than prayer, to resolve. Even, slowly.

My favorite prayer is the one Jesus prays before going to the cross : " “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” Mark 14:36

    • @daisiesandpandas1218

That's how I try to pray now.
"I'd like you to do this, but also help me be okay with a no".
I'm trying hard to not see asking to be ok with a no as unbelief because prosperity gospel preachers have made us think faith is the force that makes, (makes) God answer, so if he doesn't answer it's your faith, it's missing tithe, it's cos he's punishing you.... Watch me pray a prayer like Jesus did and they'll probably tell me off because accepting a no to my prayer is not faith.

I remember studying that chapter in Exodus (32) and thinking the same thing, but I knew He is all-knowing and you can't change His mind. What I came up with is He loves us so much that he doesn't mind involving us at times in his plan. It makes us feel good that we can have "sorta" executive decisions in the outcome all though the outcome was already Written or planned. And in Jonah, he knew the people of Nineveh would repent. Obviously, because God is all-knowing. Also, it helps us exercise our faith.
God knew he was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah but he let Abraham (Gen 18) in on what he was going to do. He allowed Abraham to try to "save" this city but he was showing Abraham how wicked that place really was.
And prayers really really work especially if you have the gift of Prayer Intercession you know exactly what I mean. In the book of Daniel 10, you see the angel came to him after his fast and said "I would have been here sooner but I was detained by the prince of Persia" The enemy would try everything in the spiritual realm to not let your prayer go through. SO KEEP PRAYING

There is a difference between a mystery behind God, and a blatant contradiction.
      God hasn't determined everything.
He has, through sovereignty, made the decision for us to make choices. And the choice to pray, that prayer is taken into consideration by God before making a decision.
Prayer is powerful because it's influential. It's influential because God's decisions are based partially in our prayers.

I think that prayer is like baptism. It’s an act of obedience. God would give you what you need regardless if you pray but when you pray and then get your needs met, you are more grateful and loving towards Him and your relationship will grow stronger and you will more likely to be drawn to make decisions out of love for Him (doing the right thing like minister to others instead of selfish self indulging acts).

Collin, so you are good with prayer being nothing more than meaningless chatter? Did Jesus pray because He was bored? Didn't have TV to kill spare time?
What our brother Allen did was negate many scriptures including the following two:
Matthew 6:7 But when you pray, do not use vain repetitions, as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
James 5:16 Confess your faults to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much.

And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 John 5:14-15). Emphasis on asking "according to His will," His will always being the best outcome...which explains why sometimes our prayers may not be answered the way we want, or even at all, if God knows the answer we want wouldn't be for the best. Great video Allen, I always learn something!

This video is a bunch of Calvinist distortions and is typical of what happens when human beings apply themselves to the issue of God's will. I don't believe that you are correct on this and my key Scripture on this is Esther 4:14. Which implies strongly that Esther's decisions will change the future. Just like our prayers or lack thereof will change the future. God is not in charge of human decisions but rather shapes the future in spite of them (If Esther does one thing, Deliverance for the Jews will come from elsewhere). Yes God does know what will take place in the future, he could hardly not from his vantage point outside time. But he doesn't determine human decisions. Human agency is real and vital as the tapestry of actions in time plays out. For us, nothing is yet determined as we don't have God's vantage point. As you say human's can't and don't overcome God's overall purpose with their decisions, but there is also a space in which human agency is not just an illusion but is real and vital and literally changes the outcome of history. This also applies to prayer. Because we pray, history will unfold differently than it would if we didn't. As time proceeds God is responsive to human decisions. This is where Calvinism and its idea of divine determinism is totally wrong and unbiblical. One of the important implications is human responsibility for our actions and their consequences as the passage in Esther points out. Without this important truth, you introduce culpability to God which then causes God's goodness and righteousness to fall apart. Calvinists never consider this when they overreach in their understanding of God's omnipotence. Human agency is frighteningly real and impactful. God allows a whole lot of stuff because of it. If God knows who will be saved at this moment in time then scriptures like 2 Peter 3:9 are just lies. What is the point of God wanting people to be saved if he has omnisciently predetermined who will be saved ahead of time? From human perspective in time no decision is "pre-determined" as it hasn't been made yet and when it is made it will shape events in the tapestry of the time-event continuum. That is the reality of the human perspective in time. Yes God knows what people will choose from his vantage point outside of time, but how events will go down depends on human decisions and agency in the here and now and human agency is real. So if we act and pray, things may change. God is not sitting there saying oh, I didn't know you were going to make that decision. Of course he is omniscient, but his omnipotence isn't worked out in human decisions or God would be culpable, and God is not culpable. That is why you are wrong when you say "when we pray, we are not giving God new information that would make him change his mind". You see, you are wrong on this with regard to your theology or you make a total lie of the scriptures. So God's omniscience doesn't really have much implication for us, as it assumes God's position outside time. It is therefore only relevant to God. This is HOW God is responsive as you point out later in the video. He reacts to human decisions based on what choices people make within time. In dealing with the last section of this Video, God's purpose was NEVER to destroy Israel. God is ALWAYS good. God responded to Israel's evil by warning them and then allowing them to face the consequences of their actions despite his reluctance.

Prayer doesn't change the mind of God but it changes us.

  • @AbelBlog
    @AbelBlog ปีที่แล้ว +2

In regards to the passages that seem to show that God changed his mind, I would say that at least some of those passages contrast God's justice and God's love.
When God responded according to his justice towards the sin of people he declared judgement against the people. But when the people repented or someone interceded on their behalf, God responded according to his love and mercy. So the two responses do not contradict God's nature because he is both perfectly just and loving.
In the case of Moses, he was a type of Christ interceding for the people who were about to face God's wrath and Moses intercession in grief for the people as Christ atonement led God's mercy to take over and overwrite the sentence of his justice.
What God has planned or predestined to happen will always come to pass whether we pray or not.
But God is not pleased to accomplish what he has ordained to happen among men without the faith of men.
Jesus for instance told Mary that if she believed she will see the glory of God. He was saying that in regard of the resurrection of Lazarus that he had already planned to perform. But he was looking for someone to believe that he could raise Lazarus. Unfortunately, Jesus found no one who was able to believe that and he wept.
The weeping wasn't because Lazarus was dead, since he already knew that he was going to raise him back to life, but the weeping was because people couldn't believe that Lazarus will come back to life after countless signs and wonders Jesus had already demonstrated among them; including many cases of resurrection.
Finally, Jesus ended up raising Lazarus back to life with his own faith through a prayer of supplication to God. Because the people who were unbelieving were underserving to witness the miracle.
So prayer is a way through which we express our faith in regard of what God has planned to accomplish or can accomplish.
Prayer can be an expression of faith in regard of what God can do, or has planned to do.
Sometimes prayer can be a plea of mercy to God to increase our faith. Like Jesus when he was at gethsemane. Jesus prayed in regard of what God had planned to accomplish through the cross. And he was strengthened through an angel. I believe he grew in faith in order to embrace the cross. In order to believe that he was going to overcome all the persecutions and not give up his cup of sufferings.
In summary, we pray to express our faith or to grow in faith in light of what God can do or has already planned to do.

are the loving, kind, respectful, and submissive persons on earth who can be trusted with anything and are worthy and deserving of the True and Sovereign God's favor and reward of ETERNAL LIFE and EXISTENCE without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and death on a safe, secure, and peaceful earth without liars, immoral, traitors, perverts, and murderers as written in Revelation 21: 3, 4, 8.
All human beings have no immortal souls and will just become worthless and useless dusts on earth after their deaths just like the animals as written in Ecclesiastes 3: 19, 20 and 9: 5, 6

all followers of Jesus Christ and worshippers of the True and Sovereign God who died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, Naomi, Ruth, King David, Jesus Christ's early disciples, Mary, Martha, Lazarus, and many others will not remain as worthless dusts forever,
instead, in the right and proper time and as written in John 11: 25, 26,
Jesus Christ will resurrect them back to life so they can all happily and abundantly live and exist on earth forever as submissive and obedient subjects of the

My understanding of this is that God has determined every consequence of every action we take. So He knows that if you deny Him, you will be in hell. Same that if you believe in Him, you will be in heaven. This is also where free will comes in to play. He allows us to make choices. He has already determined the outcome based on our choice and knows our hearts when we make said choice (aka the chances of us going back on our choice if the decision was already weakly/strongly made).
It’s kind of like when you know someone will go back to smoking after they quit, because they weakly choose to quit every weekend. Except on an entirely different level.
So that’s why we should still pray. God knows and has predetermined the consequences if we don’t trust in Him, but He still allows us to make the choice. That, I believe, is why He’s saddened by our choices. He knows what greatness He has set apart for us if we had just made the right choices. But He’s also a just God, so if we make poor choices we will experience the consequences.

Our Prayers do not change God's mind, for God is Sovereign and man is not, our Prayers align us with God's Will! God changes our Mind through Prayer! not the other way around, it is God that changes us! from Sin to Repentance, from Death to Life, from Hatred to Love, by drawing us to the feet of Christ. God changes us.

For some victories, we have to prove that we’ll do the right thing when the wrong thing is happening. We have to be good to people that are not being good to us. We have to stay in faith when it’s not fair, when it’s taking longer than it should, when it doesn’t look like it’s ever going to work out. How bad do you want what God promised? If you give up easily, you don’t want it bad enough. If you let people discourage you, bad breaks talk you out of it, delays cause you to quit believing, then it’s going to keep you from God’s best.

We are commanded to ask for things. If we are walking after the Spirit and not the flesh, then there is no reason we would be asking for anything that God would not be pleased giving to us, as long as it is in accordance with His will. We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God. Here are some things I have asked for, maybe it can help bless you as well!
-I asked to do more for God because I love Him.
-I asked for Him to help me stay in the Word because I know when I stray from it the influence of the flesh begins to overpower the spirit.
-I asked for an increase of the fruits of the spirit.
Prayer has increased my faith tremendously in God because as I asked Him for all of these things, I witnessed Him pave the way for all of these requests.

Moses interceding with God for the Hebrews who fell into idolatry was an image of Jesus interceding with God for all of us who have fallen into sin.
It is right and just of God to reserve us for judgement and punishment for sin, and so it is also good and amazing for God to show us mercy through Christ.
The fact that God changes His mind to give us mercy does not mean His judgement was incorrect or that God was wrong, The judgement stands correct, but He has given us mercy because He is a loving and tender God.

Good Word..Good Content… Thank you so much Brother Allen…You did a great job explaining and backing up scripture about prayer. As I watched I prayed to God to show me the understanding of the question posed and how does He (GOD) feel about it. As I sat two or more important scriptures came to me. 1) Genesis 2:16,17 where God told Adam not the eat from tree of knowledge of good and evil do not eat from it for if you do eat from it …you will die. What I found interesting was that God did not tell Adam why you shouldn’t eat from it God told Adam the results from eating from this particular tree. Remember also, the prayer time or fellowship with Father God and Adam was no longer in the cool of he day with personal relationship with Father God.. We now through Jesus Christ can have fellowship in the cool of the day and All Night…😊🙌
Adam was supposed to accept what God said without questioning…Why?? Because God knows best.. He is a Good Good Father. As You stated in your message Brother Allen God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts.. we will NEVER “know” The Mind of God because then He would not be God. He owed NO One an explanation… we have to be content Knowing That he instructs us to pray all throughout HIS Word.. he commands that for fellowship. I may not have an understanding why an All Knowing God would command us to pray when he knows the end results of the prayer. Also don’t forget Jesus died on the cross for us to have access to Our Heavenly Father..by the veil was rent in two so that we can now boldly petition the very throne of God
to tell him ALL our concerns and secrets… what a PRIVILEGE!! Hallelujah!!👏👏👏👏Thank You Jesus. So I agree with Brother Allen that this question can be difficult to explain so .. I did the best to explain like Brother Allen. I would like to pose a different aspect of this question: Instead of the question why pray… I ask why NOT pray(talk) with The God of Heaven and Earth… You mean I have access to The One and True Living God just through prayer… Wow….That’s PRICELESS 😊👏🙌👍🫡🙏👊

Similar to how the Disciples got Anxious and Confused when Joshua (Jesus) didn't return quickly, and New Testament authors had to eventually write in a "second coming", so too did the Egyptians waiting for Moses to return. There was some confusion and violence and Aaron had to play along with their Egyptian Idolatry, to save himself as they waited for their LEADER to return. May the similar Graceless Pagan Forbidden Egyptian IDOLATRY and HUMAN SACRIFICE in the Church of the "New Covenant" fall and God be worshipped. (As Daniel predicted) We are to worship and love God, REPENT, turn away from sin and PAUL'S TEACHINGS OF SPIRITUAL CRIPPLEDNESS and Help Each other and the Creation we were given, as a receipt of His Love. • @fsdfmsbcxx

Prayer is not a magic spell that is meant to manipulate God into changing the outward circumstances. Sadly, for many people, it's just that. Paul was right, when he wrote: "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought..." (Romans 8,26)
Most grace age believers in Jesus Christ pray like a Jew under the law, because that's what all churches understand and do. Prayer has to do with a real relationship with our Father as justified sons and daughters in Christ, and that relationship is so much different than God's relationship with the children of Israel under the law. Children don't have any maturity and understanding, they have to do what they are told (law). We, on the other hand, should learn to live as mature sons under grace, and know by the doctrine what our Father is and isn't doing. And that is why God does *not* deal with us according to his omnipotence ("... for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." (Matthew 6,8), because that would be exactly the opposite of an intimate, personal relationship.
Now you know why the letters of our apostle Paul are so different from the gospels - two different dispensations, two different groups, two different purposes.

If God decrees everything down to every thought word and action it would be confusing as to why God would change his action in our lives but if God decrees that we can make real meaningful choices in our lives then the if/then statements in scripture make sense. If you repent then I will relent from judgement.
We certainly see God stepping in and decreeing things in the scripture but that doesn't automatically mean God decrees EVERYTHING that we do.
No temptation has overtaken you except that which is common to all mankind and God is faithful and will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able. When Christian's sin or resist the holy spirit that is on us not God's decree in my estimation.

Excellent explanation for such a complex relationship with our Father. I believe pray is important to our Father for many reasons mainly to center out thoughts and minds on him.❤

Powerful and good message, it requieres a lot of humility of heart to understand the balance between a person actions and God’s plan. Thanks for your work

Obviously God can determine to answer prayers before you even pray them, but he's still choosing to or not to respond to what he knows you're going to pray in the future. This is why I have no problem with praying for something after it's happened, and I don't know how it went. For example I forgot to pray that my Son would have a good school trip, so I prayed at the end of the trip it would be good because I knew God knew I was going to pray late, and therefore he could still answer my late prayer because he knew what it would be before I was even born, which was way before the school trip. Me being late doesn't matter to an omniscient God who is outside of time.

When you understand God's sovereignty, it is challenging to reconcile why He would command us to pray and if our prayers are necessary. This video has been helpful. I appreciated the distinction you made between God's warning and God's purpose and the hypothetical example you gave about warning your child to clean his room. Thank you, Brother Allen!

I disagree that you know your son will repent and clean his room. God may be all knowing, but to be all knowing about events and then acting in this knowledge with foreknowledge of our response would mean that theres no such thing as free will. We would essentially be a mechanical toy to be manipulated in whatever way it pleases Him. God doesnt change his mind because we present new information or a better way. He changes it because he is a compassionate and merciful God. Our pain and tears move Him because he created us and feels a sense of responsibility for those of us who call on and rely on Him.

Great video and explanation. Thank you!
For me, Psalm 6 -Crying for mercy. That chapter got me praying.

    Men have free will.
    Everything is our choices.
    NOTHING is predetermined.
Pray? P RAY! Behaves just like LIGHT.
P RAY, in through axis, out through focus. YOUR perspective and perceptions! Where your focus is, your energy goes!
Words are super confused, on purpose. YOU have to clarify intention.
When you ask, you aren't really asking! LIKE, a manager or teacher! Always thank, it's polite.
God's kids, authority in his realm, our world.
All need YOUR consent, you have free will.
    Command, not demand or begging.
Amen, means 'so be it'. A verbal command prompt!
YOU can only affect YOUR life, all have free will.
STOP crying out to God, no one likes a cry baby.
YOU are in control of your life experience.
    King of Kings, right?
All must be King! Sovereign being.
The kingdom of God on Earth like Heaven. This is our choice.
