Even while in elementary school, I could jitter the night away to this. "Things..." was featured in "Stormy Weather." Benny, like Johnny Hodges, Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, was class personified, the very best of upper crust black America. I am capable of writing more. Just don't have the space. But a heavenly period in music, for sure.
He had me fooled there for a moment at first, I was pretty sure the person playing the piano was Oscar Peterson .but then luckily I read the description
Great groove as only seasoned musicians such as these can achieve in a studio. I am slightly disappointed, though, that they decided to play this tune in B flat instead of the original and more challenging key of D flat. It may seem pedantic, but the character of the tune changes a lot in a different key. Thanks, Borko, it's been a long time!
I am 81 and I really love this music and the arrangement.
@Paul Mirzakhanian You are one smart boy!

Carter's solo is wonderful!!
OMG! Where has this been, all my life!? Heard this in Cabin in the Sky. ❤️
Wow, that swings so hard!!! Gene Harris of course but the bass is awesome too!
This is one of my favourite songs ever. Some arrangements appeal more than others, but it's always a good, good song.
Great straight ahead jazz. The way it was meant to be played. Thanks.
Glad to be alive for this
I saw this on the blackboard of Mr. Gardner from Soul (Pixar)
Melodious - Mellifluous - and, most importantly, thanks to the wonderful combo of Benny and Gene Harris, Metronomic. This number really swings.
This is some of the best music ever in history

Benny Carter and Johnny Hodges: Two of the greatest pre Charlie Parker Alto players.
That's my cat Gene Harris on piano, thats a bad boy ain't he?
Great. They should integrate Martin Schmidt-Hahn with his warm clarinet-sound

Hi there, I play it in F on the guitar.
I believe the song was originally keyed in F, not D flat, and is mostly played in F.
Who is his or her right mind would play anything in D-flat - no sane person would play in D-flat when you have eleven other keys to choose from...
i am 6 months and swing on that

(Cont'd) Uh-oh! You caught me in a lie. It was "Cabin in the sky," where I first heard "Things ain't what they used to be." Sorry.
Wich was the most famous song from Benny Carter ?
