Great review fuzzy I agree with almost all your points except the 1 death thing. I said this before the EA go release it's not good to force hardcore mechanics into softcore and ggg knows that that's way they pulled back on maps bricking after 1 death. The thing is poe is an ARPG not sekiro not dark souls and it's not a 90s MMORPG you should be insintvised to juice maps to the max you should be insintvised to limit test your character not be scared too play because you only have 1 life if you die you lose the map the loot the juicing that can take hours and hours worth of exp. Too much punishment
Agree on the ground doodads getting in the way a lot. I was fighting through the Vaal city in the past and got stuck in a fruit seller's shop behind a little folding counter. Took me like 20 seconds of fighting for my life before I was able to finally figure out what I was stuck on.
I loved the dreadnought, very cool to fight there. And I only play melee, both warrior and monk. With the warrior I had Sunder where range was useful. Sure, balance isn't perfect, but it's good enough.
my issue with the monk skills is that its almost all aimed at invoker. Theres a few chaos based ones in the very end like 13 or 15..but most arent even suggested and arent good. They made a whole chaos based ascendancy but you have to shoe horn something in.
Great review, trials need to be tweaked for first 2 ascendancy upgrades (4 points). Like a room or two and then boss fight. The later ones I think is okay to be a bit more challenging but nerf some of the bad modifiers it's too copy/paste from poe1. Endgame feels bare, Id like bosses in every map with their loot tweaked and then the "boss" maps are just an arena with an act boss with better drops. I like the idea of precursors but I'd rather have something that allows another mechanic to stack on say a breach. 1 portal maps with pinnacle bosses etc should maybe be 3 to actually allow players to learn. Waystone sustain needs to be better maybe atlas tree changes to allow it. And citadel cannot be RNG, they have to add a way to chase it somehow. Game is Hella fun tho, ppl keep saying it's the best EA game but Hades 2 knocks it out the park but it's a close second. Great vid
I'd like them to make white mobs have less HP. I feel like there's a lot of design intent similar to how Doom Eternal tried to solve the shortcoming of Doom 2016 by "removing downtime" and "removing cheesy strats" (double barrel shotguning everything) which made the game very tense all the time (i liked it, but MANY people did not). Every enemy is a threat now (maybe I am undergeared and it'll get better) and it feels too much. There needs to be moment of respite. Being engaged all the time might not be good. Excitement and engagement should be there, but it doesn't need to be on every encounter. Pushing through bullet sponge white trash isn't engaging. It just feel tedious. I'd drop the HP on white mobs and keep their damage potential so we can get to the good stuff (magic and rare mobs) quicker. It would speed up maps which feel too big, but i think it's partly cause white mobs are take too long to kill.
@@noizy514 I agree the game is a bit too stressful in that in high tier maps it's never a relaxing blast as you are always an overtuned mob award from death until you get really well geared
Very based review I did recommended you to try diablo 2 You will see similarities in diablo 2 and poe 2 Not exactly 1 to 1 since the ip is different But you will see the inspiration Imo, in poe, ascendancy is a commodity.... not a be all end all for build making It just helps your build do more ❤
I watch the top streamers in end game and they are just going through maps pressing 1-2 buttons. Slowing down the whole game is really not having good results except for boss fights.
The slower game play ends in Act 3. By the time you get to maps, the game is pretty much POE. For whatever reason they stopped scaling monster health at a rate that caused you to fight them.
Based as usual. I agree with it all. I'm currently thinking this is definitely not a POE1 replacement/Sequel, its more of a D4/LE competitor in this current state. The campaign is the best part of the early access. I do have an issue with the bosses. First play through, I got decimated by some of the non-one hit KO moves, simply coz my build sucked and my gear sucked, but now on my 3rd playthrough, im 3second killing the bosses. All the fun of fighting these interesting bosses is now removed, simply as my game knowledge is increasing and I also have currency to spend on some simple upgrades. I would love for there to be a difficulty selector at the checkpoint marker for the bosses, so that I can still be challenged, and not punished for being a more balanced character. Crafting is laughable to even call it that at the moment. Its a shame. Most maps are fucking massive, if you want them to be that big, show me every rare, boss, ritual, expedition, breach, strongbox on the minimap with no range limit from the get go. Im happy to run across a massive map as long as im not running around like a fucking headless chicken trying to scan the map for the delayed rare marker that appears often far too late as ive ran across the map seven times, and now this map has taken me 10mins and my loot is 5 runes, 2 augs, 3 transmutes...... Ascendancy. Oh lord. Putting these behind two of the most player base splitting content is honestly....so out of touch. Im surprised that no one in GGG said "Hang on a minute, WE know people hate these mechanics, why are we doing this?" also if you fail, you have to refarm the mat to enter again, which means your higher level, which means the new sanc/ulti has higher level mobs. Sanctum: Notoriuosly build-based content. Its great if you can offscreen the map whilst hiding behind a wall. As a melee? LOL. Oh and btw the last boss, that takes 30-40mins to get to, that 99% of the people who are playing have never even seen, yeah, he can kill you even if u have all ur honour and hp if you fail his mechanics.....oh great, can I go some where to practice this? No. Insanely short sighted. Ultimatum: Risk Vs Reward. This is counter-intuitive. Ascendancies, are not supposed to be high risk high reward, sure POE1 lab is 1 death. But its VERY repeatable. VERY easy to do Merc lab under geared and under leveled. Does not fit the theme at all. Endgame? Why did we insert POE1 map system into the weird infinite map system of Last Epoch? Atlas tree for specific content, laughable, I agree, you have to seriously grind these at high content to get points. And just the whole map thing, its weird. I want to buy 50 maps, 200 scarabs, and run my 50 maps on Saturday on my day off. Here im having to scan an area for towers, make sure I dont do too many nodes whilst I path to them, clear them, add these tablets to them. It just doesnt make sense, especially when the maps take so fking long to clear since the maps are big, getting out to areas where you can effectively plan and nice triple tower setup is just annoying, if these maps were on jungle valley T16 pace, sure no problems, but im sat in a map for 7-8+mins.....
@@FuzzyDuckzy I get no gear that is an improvement. Only frustration. With Warrior of course. GGG just hate melee at this point i really dont understand why they put melee classes in their games.
the reason WHY the trials are not fun for the majority of people is BECAUSE of the overtuned. ultimatum was a fan favorite league mechanic, and so was sanctum. they should be fine options the issue comes with ultimatum being giga overtuned (still, im in high tier maps and i still dont have half of my ascendancy points). and skhemas screwing over melee classes (at least until the recent changes, but its still a disadvantage). also, as much as the end game is a bit rushed, ive not heard ANYONE say they would have preferred the game without it and have had the rest of the campaign. the end game has some rough spots but its fine for the most part.
@@wowitsfrostygames155 this is all subjective. Ultimatum when returned was definitely not a fan favourite same with sanctum. Some love it others hate it, which is why being forced to do it feels bad
@@FuzzyDuckzy yeah its for sure subjective, im saying that only because i remember public opinion BEFORE the EA came out, everyone was pretty chill with ultimatum because they loved it in poe 1, and people had reservations about sanctum returning as an ascendancy thing, but everyone was cool with it because if your class cant do it you can just do the other thing. the reality of the situation was somewhat upsetting for a lot of people including myself. now maybe this doesent apply to you personally if you werent a fan of ultimatum in poe 1, but as like a general rule for the community i think the trial of chaos will be much better received when it gets some well deserved adjustments lol.
@wowitsfrostygames155 I like ultimatum and definitely prefer the chaos trial the mods are just next level cooked 😂 waiting to see how people react to the third one which seems like it might be TOTA
Mate you are off your bean on deaths and endgame. The playerbase is going to absolutely evaporate if they don't change this. If they want to appeal to the absolute minimum number of people who would possibly be interested in this game, the best course of action would be to keep the current endgame mechanics in place. It's lunacy, honestly. Other than that, fairly okay review.
They won’t change it and if they do you can be sure it will come with a downside like if you die in a map no more loot will drop. I don’t agree with it I’m just personally not that bothered by it.
@FuzzyDuckzy You're on an island with that opinion mate. Normal folks will be uninstalling in droves if the overall endgame punishment doesn't get reduced. It's just not fun in any way right now for people who's job isn't playing video games 12hrs a day.

They need to pick 1 death per map or xp loss. They cant have both its too harsh and tons of players will dip once they get to endgame.

Yeah sorry they are fickle creatures
I saw donthecrown saying, and tried and got it, citatel only appear with 14~15 in towers!I started using it got 2 already
Wow would have been good for the game to tell you this 🤣 thanks for the tips I will give it a go
Another thing to add
You will notice small houses which will indicate which citadel will appear on the map
