Private John Joseph Salmon 302 Infantry, 76 Division, was in an artillery company using 4.7 inch field guns in World War 1. Thank you for your service, Sir! (US Army)
As a US Army veteran myself I recognised the style of grave marker as US issue. One day (hopefully decades down the line) I have earned the right to have one placed over my resting place. Thanks for your quick research, may he RIP.
I was going to mention that it's a lot spookier on the outside looking at it then on the inside and I would stay in it but opposite of what you say, I'd stay in it but only if I could keep the door forcibly opened, I would be so scared that someone would lock it from the outside during the night If they did that you would never escape.
From one veteran to another, thank you for your service. Today, as I was walking through a family cemetery here in NC, there were 5 military graves. From different time periods.
Makes you wonder if anyone was ever interred in that mausoleum or if it was built and then sat empty. I suppose we will never know. Great video, as always!❤
Cool looking graveyard. It looks like someone is taking care of it. So Cromwell's forces set fire to the roof while people were inside? What a great bunch of guys! ( Being sarcastic here.) The mausoleum was particularly interesting, looks to be in fairly good condition. Thank you very much GV, for sharing this. Have a great weekend. 😊
Even if there is only a small surviving pebble left of a grave marker, that pebble, even without a single worn letter upon it, is still "Sacred to the memory of...."
That beautiful building in that incredible setting. What a lovely place to find your eternal rest. And there is so much history to these places. It must have been like visiting another world. And yes I would stay in it overnight. It would be very peaceful.
The groove was for the shelves and the blocks on the floor are remnants of the shelf. Sadly, as time passes, the interior of mausoleums decay, just as the bodies that are placed in them decay, until nothing recognizable remains.
Firstly, a hearty thank you to whomever gifted me the Membership. =D Secondly, it's really sad to think of just how cruel humans can be to one another. Burning the roof of a church while people are inside? That's really sick. Thirdly, yet another beautiful, if in disrepair, graveyard in this video. It does demonstrate, however, that nothing lasts forever. Consider, in a few billion years, our sun that gives us life, will explode and swallow up this magnificent planet.
I'd definitely spend a night in there. I REALLY ❤ the real old graveyards. Yet another BRILLIANT find GV. Thanks as always for taking us along on your adventures. xx
Thanks for another great video GV! I'd only stay overnight in that Mausoleum if I had someone with me. It was pretty spooky and I'm sure I heard a couple of ghostly whispers too. 👻
I love the views you show, just beautiful! As for the mausoleum, even seeing you in it, makes me claustrophobic, thinking what if some spirit would close that door on you... no way I would spend the night in there. Some creepy sounds in the end too...20.13 min., just before you turn back to it.. If they would have put me in there as a prisoner, they could carry me out dead.. Thank you so much for the video! I had no problem with your other microphone, this one seems to drop a bit now and again.. Much love to you, have a beautiful weekend! ❤🤗
Sound is very good! The visuals seem really clear too; the mist, the stonework, that eerie mausoleum. But though I love graveyards during the day, they freak me out at night, and I probably wouldn’t sleep a wink in that mausoleum!
Great video! Would I spend the night in that mausoleum? Sure, if GV provides an unlimited supply of Guinness to keep away the boredom and discomfort of such a place! If the spirits appear, I will share a pint with them too! Cheers to all!
I dont beleve in ghosts, i had a summer job at our local cemetery and church for several summers way back, i even had the lowering of a coffin. Its the most peacefull place to be i even visited at night to light candles at the tombs and i never noticed anything but inner peace. So yes i could gladly sleep in any mausoleum alone with or without coffins.
The old church was built and burned before the US even existed 🤔 The mausoleum was used as a prison? That’s extremely disturbing. In spite of the creepy mausoleum the churchyard and surrounding countryside are stunningly beautiful. I really enjoy exploring Ireland through your and Sue’s channels.
The new sound is spot on, I even heard the gravestone moving when you miss stepped on it. As to the vault being empty, I don't think so, many vaults in my research have a😢 second floor going down. No GV, I would never sleep in anyones vault no matter how long it had been. The echo was beautiful in there! Money is not everything. I do find it interesting that it echoed like that, other empty vaults you have visited did not do that. I also suspect the vault to be unconsecrated, (" spelling?") It was the only one outside of the graveyard, just saying. Thank you for your time and dedication to finding the history. It makes it so much better!
The church ruins are beautiful. And I couldn't believe how quiet it was there! Now, I could not spend the night there only because I fear some LIVING lunatic coming in there to hurt me lol. I'd need a big body guard and then i'd be fine 🤣Thanks GV. God bless 🙏xx Teresa 🇦🇺♥
I'd spend the night but not by myself..and that's not even a done deal. I prefer the old graves and graveyards than the new ones.Another interesting explore GV 😊 i do like the stone walls surrounding the graveyard. Xxx
Hi GV hope you are well thanks for sharing this lovely old grave yard wow it is creepy was there coffins in there at some point or what I definitely wouldn't stay in there no thank you take care GV great video 👍
That's a fascinating vault. I wonder if the family moved away before anyone used it. I might stay in it if someone else was there with me. Thank you for the adventure, GV. You and Sue be very careful wondering around those boggy places.
Beautiful graveyard GV.. I love the real master stone masonry. Each stone perfectly cut and laid. I wonder if that mouslem was used but just cleared out over time. Yeah I'd stay there no problem
No, I'd not want to spend the night in there. Looks dank and cold. Interesting video, always like watching you and Sue having an adventure. I watch both of you.
Thank you to whomever gifted me the membership. This is a lovely old church yard. Blessing on those who lie here. Love the mausoleum and yes, I would stay there.❤❤❤ I think the groove is for shelving for holding coffins.🎉
Private Sammon was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. This is given to military personnel who received a wound or who lost their life while in battle. Since he died in 1956, his was for a wound.
The size of that mausoleum strangely reminds me of those "little houses" marketed today. And there are holes to let the Radon out. It wouldn't be bad with fridge, TV, heating and air, lights, indoor plumbing, tapestries on the walls, etc.
I am surprised that nobody even tries to clean the headstones. There is a lady on TikTok that goes around and cleans headstones that are just covered in lichen, moss and whatever dirt is on them.
The weather is quite gloomy don't you think Cathal? The cemetery is way out there by itself. Wonder why we see more and more of this. I would sleep there for a night in a heavy duty sleeping bag. It is a bit echoing in there. ♥️☘️
Ten out of Ten again for County Clare..I think there must of been at one time people buried in that Mausoleum like you pointed out where the shelves would of been and had to be removed for unforseen reason??? Would i spend the night inside their...No chance 👻 😊 ❤
Thinking about staying in the mausoleum for one night made me think of the little pig who built his house with bricks. If given a fourth choice, he would have probably chosen "stone!"
How strange that the mausoleum was empty, not even a sign of what would have been the shelves. Why was it built outside of the cemetery? So many mysteries.
Its too bad the state dosnt take care or repair the old grave sites there. When a grave caves in you need to remove rhe grass leyer and fill up the decay with soil and replace the grass and fix the grave and strait the foundation for the headstone. Cleaning those headstones would be an easy job too with the right chemicals so that the stone dosnt get damaged.

What an old place with so much history !
Amazing what stories some of these places can tell.

Yes, I’d say the groove was for coffin shelves to keep them up off the ground and dry. The holes look like eyes:))
Nice seeing the old graves.
