    Im a rider (both street and dirt) of over 50 yrs. I just turned 71yrs young! Been keeping track of you and your adventures. You riding around the world for 3.5 years without injury is a testimony of your riding skill. Also, I hope other riders take note of why it is so important to wear protective cycle gear, no matter how hot the weather is! One last comment: Now is the time to rest and let your body heal. I've dumped my dirt bikes many times. My biggest mistake was riding before my body was completely healed! Listen to the doctor and let your body completely heal before returning to the road. As we say here in the Northwest 'Keep you knees to the breeze and the rubber side down'. Stay safe Norally!

      Hey Paul, Billy here. I live in Kentucky. You sound closer to her than me . But if she needs something and I can help give me a shout. Like you I'm 69 and started riding in 1969. Your right she needs to heal before moving on. Like I said before. Give me a holler if I can help in any way. Talk to you later. Billy

      Hey Paul and Billy - i am an old fart too and have had my share of wipeouts on bikes and flying machines - the only way to avoid getting injured is to never go out but who wants that ?
      Yet i could crush my hands in the refrigerator door. She's definitely not the stay-at-home type but wish she slowed down a bit .. just a bit ...LOL

    As a former off-road rider I took a similar fall. Ten miles away from civilization hit a loose rock that rolled out from under my front tire and bam, I was on the ground. I broke my left wrist and ankle and had to ride myself back. Ohh man manipulating the clutch and shifter with a broken wrist and ankle was miserable to say the least.

      The crash is a typical Nevada welcome for visitors. This is where folks come to crash, crash their diets, crash their bank accounts, crash their irrational dreams of winning a lot of money, crash their lifestyles by getting married, and crash their lives........our homeless problem is completely out of control. Whatever you have you can pretty much crash it in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    Noraly, the deserts here can easily get up to 120 degrees and fast, consider bringing an umbrella in your kit somewhere for shade. If you fall and have to wait for help, you can be in a life threating situation. Love your videos!

      Not all the desserts are that hot. Some, like berry pies for example, are usually served room temperature. And ice cream is at least freezing. Don't scare our Ouchy Boots out of trying those American sweet treats. Now, the deserts... they can be dangerous.

As I am sixty year old biker, with amongst other ex MC courier experinance London based. Have so enjoyed your spirit and with respect , watched you develop your ridding skills !!! Simply stunning. You are an amazing ambassador to to entire biking community. There is only one negative.... The law of averages. The way you took on the Kalahari rally was beyond belief, but since you obviously saw the "red mist" or BRAP ! ... it was only a matter of time before you take a nasty off. All should know that you have saved yourself from more painful and serious injuries because you’re always wearing the essentials. (E.G. road burns etc) I’m SO GLAD that you’re not seriously injured because you’re such a wonderful videographer AND rider and an inspiration to so many of your subscribers. • @davidcolinfisher1034
      @davidcolinfisher1034 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Over preparing for a crash is a mistake, you should be more focused on not crashing. I motorcycle crash will break an ankle, boot or not boot. The forces are too great....The bike weighs over 300 lbs. A boot isn't going to save your foot. She was lucky. Its more important to put your energy into studying riding techniques from professionals, like any thing else. Pro racers dont' crash as much as you might think. Its the adventure riders that are crashing all over the place in highly predictable scenarios. I personally remove protective gear when its too hot, to stay cool, so I can concentrate, and not pass out. Its that kind of thinking that helps. Wearing orange so other drivers can see you is good, but some drivers aren't looking.....You get my drift. Crash less. Try not to crash at all, ever.

    I raced (MotoCross, Flat track, scrambles ) in my youth. I now have scars and metallic parts to support wounded parts, and there is no medical reason to remove most of the metallic parts. I quit after a relatively serious fall and went on to do other things. Maybe 15 years after I quit racing, I got back on street bikes and had excellent week long trips with some collage friends. 7 years ago I sold my last bike (BMW 800cc vertical twin) because reflexes start to fade and you may not know it... I stumbled on your excellent guide to a better life with motorcycles. I love it! I would get nervous at the speed you were driving, but I after looking at more of your adventures I believe the speed was added in the editing. The drone shots with you riding by yourself, - perhaps the view was 50 miles in every direction and the only thing moving was you, and a instrumental background that demonstrated your good taste in life and video. I've been riding for many, many years and one thing I've learned is to follow Doctor's orders completely. Once we suffer an injury, we rarely recover to 100%. I have also discovered that we may recover to 90% or even 95%, but never to 100%. So be very careful out in the wild, and mother nature can be wild! Also, welcome to the western deserts of the USA. one thing ive noticed that would really really help you. try to ride faster. up hills, through mud holes. the reason its so much better to have more speed is the faster you go the more centrifical force your wheels have and the more forces you have keeping you and your bike up right. I know it sounds like the opposite of what makes sense but im telling you if theres one of the most important things ive learned in 25 years of riding dirt bikes/adventure bikes is the faster you can go over tough terrain (within reason) the better chance you have of keeping it upright. regardless you are one tough cookie and I have no doubt you will overcome this no problem!!

      @@Vahlakable Will all due respect, there aren't too many places as remote and deadly hot as the American southwest in late July. People can and do die from exposure within hours without shade or hydration in this climate. I have travelled these areas extensively and I personally know ex special forces guys who almost died on routine trips through some of these backroads. Some of these roads only see a handful of people each week on them this time of year, if at all. If you cannot self rescue or are incapacitated and unable to call for help, assuming it could get to you in time, yes, it is a mortal danger. Every year tourists coming from Las Vegas die in southern Utah and Arizona. I read a book once called Death in the Grand Canyon and it would amaze you how even the smallest mistake can be fatal in these unforgiving environments. There isn't much you can do to prepare for the elements either, and in my experience having a companion through some of these remote and seldom travelled areas can be the difference between life and death. Just my two cents and I do know what I am talking about.

      @sonnytpangestu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it was a real steep climb with loose rock and gravel. it may cause lost of traction of the wheel tyre to the track surface and may cause our bike not easy to control and out of balance. we have to open the throtle to gain power to maintain speed momentum in this steep climb which in turn may cause the front wheel off the ground surface. in addition the Noraly's bike burdened such maybe about 30 kg of luggage at the back. all those conditions contribute to make the crash happened. not as simple as that to tackle.
      deflate the air pressure in wheel tyre maybe can help a bit to gain traction & to get better control on bike balance on these steep loose surface.
      an all wheel drive dirtbike maybe ideal for this condition, that may not need big effort to pass this steep climb.

    Hate that you hurt yourself. Something we learned climbing the hills in the Mojave and around the Sierra Nevada on the state line between Nevada and Cali. We found it useful to drag our feet and open the throttle up in first or second gear. The bikes would get squirrely, but the foot drag and leg power were enough to keep the bike from falling over or slipping out from underneath. Note, we even did this with a box full of firewood on the back of the motorcycle. I didn't look closely at your boots, but I think they can do it. Obviously, you'd have to avoid running over your foot again. If you're planning for it, keeping the legs out and away is pretty easy. Also, it makes it easier to lay the bike down if you need to. Odds are you'll run into this again. It's what makes riding fun in California and Nevada. Honest, it is fun, sucks this time, though. Hope your foot and motorcycle heal quick.

    Rule of thumb when bike stall at steep path. To prevent it from slipping downward. Apply/Locking rear brake, If handle bar is at uphill. Conversely, apply front brake, if handle bar is at downhill. Always watch out for tendency of front wheel slip off on loose sand, rocks while cornering. At the same time, try not to avoid jamming front brake, but slow down and apply rear brake. Stay safe and enjoy riding..

    A good technique for turning around on a steep difficult hill is to leave the bike on its side (or push it over), then just drag the rear wheel around to where the kickstand is downhill and you’re across the slope. Pick it up, and you’re pointed where you need to be. It’s a lot less work than muscling the bike through a 15-point turn.

    From a guy with 52 years of riding under his belt, you are doing very well, this is a mere hiccup. Good riding gear is hot and heavy but comes in handy when you take a soil sample! I savor your video reports like good food, and will wait impatiently for you to heal.👍

    Noraly, my girlfriend and I, are watching you everyday, more than Netflix. Lol. Love your Avententures, stay strong and safe.
