Imagine 50 years from now when Noraly is sipping coffee in a quaint bistro somewhere in Europe and some young waiter or waitress asks her what she did in her youth. Who would believe that she travelled to ALL these amazing places, saw all the incredible things she did, experienced all these fantastic adventures and did most of them completely by herself on a motorcycle while capturing it all for posterity? She'll be able to list on one hand the number of countries she HASN'T ridden through, and she has the video evidence to allay anyone's incredulity!
Waiter "So you're telling me after a successful career as a geologist, you travelled the ENTIRE WORLD, by yourself.... on a motorcycle, creating videos of everywhere you visited.... and you educated millions of fans about the peoples, cultures, history and geological anomalies of the areas you visited?"
Noraly "Yep. I even saw a mama bear and her three cubs in Yellowstone in 2022, just before I visited the Ringing Rocks in Montana while on my way to Alaska. You should really watch that season. The Americas have some really great rural countryside."
You are nothing short of incredible, Noraly! THANK YOU for sharing your adventures with us, now.
    😊

One day she will be old... that's something that will happen, you like it or not. But she will have só many stories to tell, so many pictures in her mind, so many adventures to think about. If she éver will settle, have a hubby and who knows maybe kids, they will ( and múst!) have the deepest resprect for her. And without any doubt, the lucky guy that may call himself her hubby, is one of the most lucky guys ever. So... Noraly, what are you doing next saterday? “Buffalo” is a good example of the confusion that result from the use of common words. You mentioned elk vs moose in a previous segment. In this one you talked about antelope. A commonly used term for what are more accurately termed pronghorn. They are not an antelope but are the sole surviving species of their group. The Latin term is antilocapridae americanus. The first word contains both antelope and goat. Mountain lion, cougar, catamount, puma and painter are all common names applied to the same animal in different parts of the US. The Latin term is Felis concolor. I’d like to point out something else about brucellosis. It was the cattle that brought that disease to the bison. Ranchers have spent a lot of money trying to get their herds brucellosis free. Brucellosis also infects other species such as elk and beaver. Elk however are an important game species in Montana while bison are not classified as wildlife and fall under the regulations of the Dept of livestock. They don’t dare eliminate the elk as hunting and the money involved are too big. Bison are gaining a constituency but livestock interests will oppose it to the bitter end.

Similar when checking out an anvil. Tap it on the horn, if it rings, the anvil is structurally okay. If it's more of a dead sound, there's a void or crack somewhere in it and it's not good. Also a way to check the stone wheels for precision grinders. It's important to "ring" them to make sure they won't fly apart when you mount them and spin them up.

As a former miner, I also believe that the "singing stones" produce the tones due to a high content of iron when they lie on top of each other. This causes the sound waves to be transmitted. If they lie on soft ground, the tones are swallowed due to the lack of resonance.

The "antelope" are called Pronghorn and are, I believe, the fastest land animal in the U.S. Bison are generally called buffalo just because it has been that way (mistakenly or not) for as long as the west was settled. I believe the name has a French origin. Bill Cody, aka Buffalo Bill, was originally a scout and a buffalo hunter. The word buffalo probably just fits the wild west better.

Not only are the pronghorn the fastest mammal in North America, but they’re also the second fastest in the world! Not all states have one yet, Montana does not, nor Northern CA. They're working on them. They're also working on one for Oregon, though there's a bit of a story there as one already exists. Important to note, there is no "official" designation for these routes as they are all done by a private group of individuals who are adventure riders wanting to provide documented routes that have been thoroughly researched and ridden for everyone else to enjoy, especially if you have a limited time table. And for those on the East Coast, who are probably the ones who told Noraly everything is paved, well, they have something for you too in the form of the Mid Atlantic BDR and the North East BDR. They are working on a Southern one now as well.

The ringing comes from the combination of high tensile and low damping. Pure aluminum is acoustically dead and one alloy of aluminum is used for sound deadening. However 6061-T6 aluminum alloy rings and can make a nice tuning fork. If you were to put one of these ringing rocks on 3 hard points rather than on the ground, it would likely ring there too by itself.

Noraly is an amazing route planner and an outstanding navigator, she makes it look easy but that is deceptive. Her greatest achievement in the whole Alaska project will be that she managed to do the whole South to North expedition mostly off-road which nobody else has done to such an extent before. Adventure motorcycling is a very over used term today, but this actually is true adventure riding at it's very best. The buffalo misnaming is due to immigrants coming from many parts of the world where buffalo came from. A broadly similar looking beast but a totally different branch of the bovine family.

As you are discovering, we do have many wonderful dirt roads, and two tracks every where in the USA. The roads and trails that you rode in this video are calling my name. It Looked like you had a blast riding them. You created another scenic, thrilling, and informative video. Thanks.
