    I'm really not a benchmark guy, but I ran a Geekbench test and the OpenCL score was 43412 while the CPU score was 1764 single score and 12372 multi-core.

    • @JoeTourist
      @JoeTourist 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could you run the Metal benchmark? The OpenCL is really not supported on new Macs anymore...thanks. I'm waiting for my new MBP 14" Max (6 weeks), and need some validation!

    • @jakreu
      @jakreu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Can you give us a statement regarding the battery, please? Some people are arguing that the 14" Max has significantly worse battery life than the 14" Pro. Have you noticed any of this? Might just be a stupid rumor, sadly the early battery tests never include a 14" model with the M1 Max.

    • @sooryasrajan619
      @sooryasrajan619 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How is the battery for you, how long does it last? I'm very sceptical about getting an M1 max on a 14 inch. I'm just a developer and I wouldn't use the GPU to its full all the time, but I'm gonna invest 3000$ I might as well bump it by 200$ and get the M1 Max instead, the 24 core variant. Is there any significant degradation on the battery life, how long does it last for you just on battery? Please let me, thank you in advance xD

    • @jakreu
      @jakreu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sooryasrajan619 Hey there! I just had it for two days now and I've barely had enough time to test the battery. Honestly, I have/had my doubts too, because reviews suggest that the Max models have worse battery life than the respective Pro models. And I believe them, I think it would be logical. But I just don't have any other MBPs to benchmark my battery life against, and so far I really can't complain, it runs really solid and barely loses any percents, BUT I have not been doing any hard work while unplugged. But I can tell you it runs perfectly fine on browsing and office duty. I suppose that's because the battery loss only comes into play when you actually use the M1 Max GPU. If you don't I think you'll have the same runtime as a M1 Pro.

    Was looking for a video like this! I'm coming from the 2015 Macbook Air, and it's nice to not see it being compared to essentially last year's model. Makes the most sense because I feel like the majority of people who bought a Macbook Pro last year are probably not going to be replacing it this year.

    Nice to have an extra video this week. Can’t believe the transfer took you 3 minutes. That’s insane. I’m so tempted by the 14 inch but I feel like I just bought the mini and I know the pro would be more powerful and I’d just want to use it as my desktop and laptop, rendering my mini into a brick. I rarely use my laptop, which is actually a 2012 MBP because I’m at home a lot more now. It does need to be replaced but I’m trying to wait on the new Airs coming out next year. That screen on the 14 inch looks beautiful though.

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm still really happy to have my Mini as a "permanent" desktop (and I still think it's an absurdly powerful little computer). It's just so nice to have portable power too!

  • @shuriken4852

    • @tombuck

    THANK YOU for comparing it to the late 2013 13" model, it's the exact same one I have. I love knowing that they're about the same size and weight - everyone's been comparing the 14" to the touch-bar versions and it's hard to really estimate the difference between the 14" and mine, seeing as the touch bar ones are thinner and lighter. it makes me really happy to know I won't have much to "re-adapt" to, since the 14" and mine both have similar ports, magsafe, weight, etc.

    • @tombuck

      Hmm, that is annoying. I feel like you shouldn't be having that issue, especially with 1080 footage. Have you tried another editing program?
