    Awesome presentation I just purchased this bike and now going through lessons. I really like my bike and as you said it’s a very easy , comfortable ride... especially for beginners.

    The HD Street is a clearly superior motorcycle to the indian scouts. HD offers an iconic and legendary dealer support network and gives you a one year membership to "HOG" with the purchase of a new Street motorcycle. The build quality and materials used is far better than what the competition offers in the same catagories. while the scouts are really just beginner bikes, the Street(s) are a long term motorcycle that virtually anyone can purchase in confidence. They can and will impress anyone that sees them while you are riding, and even when parked in your garage. These are iconic bikes that the true enthusiast yearns for and causes the owners of lesser bikes to feel jealous about. Go out and buy them,.....you will never regret that purchase.

    Nice review, but what about some more info on what it’s like to cruise at.

    • @BikeReviewcomau
      @BikeReviewcomau  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can find more information on our site, with the full review here: bikereview.com.au/review-harley-davidson-street-500-lams/
      That said the Street 500 will cruise happily at 110/120km/h in top gear on the open road, on all but the steepest sections, and was comfortable for me, for reasonable stretches of a couple of hours at at time. Minimal wind protection without a screen is probably the most notable issue if you're doing really long distances.

    How is this for a short rider I'm 5'3-5'4" with about a 29 pant inseam and concerned about my foot touching the ground. I'm a new rider taking. The chp basic riders course at the local Harley dealership on this specific bike in one month

    • @BikeReviewcomau
      @BikeReviewcomau  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This seat height is SUPER low, you'd need to try it in person, but there's not much this low to the ground and I know of a few riders of shorter stature who were looking for new bikes, jumped on one of these and it was perfect, when everything else was too tall.

      @@jezzamouse5644 I have a 2015 so no ABS. Power is really sad compared to everything else out there LAMs-wise. Despite having mid controls the lean angle and weight is laughable. I would trade the little lean angle for the power of the vulcan. I also look like a bear on this thing as it is so small. Parts are extortionate. Various recalls on the 2016+ and the fuel pump on 15+. There's decent support our there for it mechanically, I suppose.

    There is nothing Harley about this Harley..... that’s not a jab at it tho, I own one and they look great in cafe spec. It’s a super nimble bike. I ride my shadow spirit when I’m on the open road, but the street is my city or B road bike. First thing I did was remove the Harley badges tho. Think triumph when considering this not Harley.

      The mirrors are useless tho. Worst I’ve ever had on a bike. If you buy one get drag bars with bar end mirrors.

    I've never seen one on the road and I live in deep Harley land here in the U.S. Too heavy and too expensive!

    • @BikeReviewcomau
      @BikeReviewcomau  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've got a stringent learner licensing process here in Australia which means most riders spend 3+ years on a 'LAMS' restricted machine - which is what these are aimed at, before being allowed to ride anything they want. They've proven very popular here as a result. I imagine the 750 would be a more popular choice in the U.S. being only a little more and having a fair bit more power?

    • @motonirvana6861
      @motonirvana6861 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BikeReview.com.au Nah, never see the 750 either but you do see plenty of other Harleys. We have no tiered licensing system so a complete beginner can start on a 1000cc plus super sport. Absolutely crazy!

      I live in Texas and yes you dont see many of them. Everything is bigger in Texas even the bikes. Me being 5'2" / 140lb I can't ride most of the bikes on the road. I was looking at the Rebel but at round same price point I bought the 500 street. No brainier Harley has the COOL factor. Plus you can't were any HD shirt / Leather Jacket, ect without someone asking "what Harley do you own?". Perfect bike for me.

      I currently have the 750 street and took off the factory muffler and installed an after market so now..it sounds every bit Harley as it should. As for performance...I have no issues keeping up with the larger bikes and they cant believe mines LOUDER than theirs.
      So the dealership I go to started calling mine the SUPER STREET!!!

      It's not for the experienced rider. Get something else. It's also not for long cruise on the freeway. It's for city commute & short runs on the freeway. That it does very well.
      I own it and as a new rider, it has everything for me for quite a few years to come.

      @@vijgai3 Get what ya saying man if you like it well and good is it a good bike well that's a question there are lots and lots of bikes for new riders some are okay and some are bad and some are good but 43 years of riding and trying many smaller bikes out for new riders that i have known that were in the market the HD 500 was very disappointing.And if it is the only bike you have had then your views on whats good or not just may not be the same as a wider view from the many.
