    I picked up the 750 version of this bike after learning on a Reb 300 for a year. For the most part I like the power and being able to take a longer trip on it. I do miss my fuel guage and gear indicator though. The added weight catches me off guard at times but its not bad in comparison. I did have to adjust styles as I was used to ringing its neck to get power in the 300 but that will get you hurt on 750.

    • @jasondep
      @jasondep  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like the 750 might be the better pick out of the Street models 🙌 Happy and safe riding!

    If you go through the instrument cluster you will actually notice a gear reading and rev counter.

    • @jasondep
      @jasondep  ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember checking it so many times and couldn't see it 😕 I think it must've been on later models as this one had the red/orange screen and I've seen other models with a slightly different cluster

    I took my MSF course on a Street 500. It's not a terrible machine, but the price, at least in the states, is way too steep for what the bike is.

    • @jasondep
      @jasondep  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely isn't entirely terrible, I do admit that after riding it I kinda wanted one just for the sake of having a cruiser even though it's not crazy fast 😅 Happy and safe riding 🙌

      And the Harley Davidson salesman told me its price is so low that there is no gear indicator. LOL. For a 500cc bike its top speed is only 80 mph??

    I’ve had one for about 10 months now and use it for my daily commute and I have to say I love it. Great bike for around town. Getting the exhaust replaced with a Vance and Hines and screaming eagle air inlet next week. The gear box requires a massive kick up into second or I find it drops back into neutral which can be rather embarrassing when taking off from the lights lol. I believe they improved the brakes in later models? Mines a 2017 and I’ve had to urgently throw on the anchors on more than one occasion now and they did the job. I’m no expert on the subject though. Anyway thanks for the review mate! 👍👍👍

    • @jasondep
      @jasondep  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to hear you're enjoying it! Vance and Hines exhaust will definitely improve the sound 😀 I believe yes the brakes were improved along with the inclusion of a fuel gauge on later models 🙌 Appreciate the comment 🫶 Happy and safe riding!

      I test ride a street 500 today. There is no gear indicator on the panel and I thought I kicked it to gear 2 but it won't move when green light is up. Very awkward. I tried triumph speed 400 last month which is much better than street 500. Triumph 400 has gear indicator, as well as nimble response to the clutch and throttle

      @@liuhongqian yeah, the new exhaust and air inlet have made it a way better bike, it now sounds amazing... I also got a new LED headlight and leather saddlebags. Anyway I may be slightly biased but I still love riding it._ 😎

    I bought a 2016 identical to the bike you showed on this clip. 2016 with 1,800 miles for 4k. I bought it for my 12 year old daughter 2 months before turning 13. This so far has been a wonderful bike for teaching her and her mother to ride. My daughter has r
    Taken a small dump on it a while back. And my wife has dumped it twice. I know it was built in India. But it is nimble and bad ass. It's actually a fun toy to blow off steam , when you ride a Roadking every day. I'd rather be teaching on this bike , then spend thousands on a really nice chromed out bike ànd watch it get dinged up. So for the money , this is an awesome bike

    • @jasondep
      @jasondep  ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair enough 😀 I definitely remember when I was looking into possibly getting one a couple years ago, I would look at reviews from India in particular and I could see these bikes could handle some tough road conditions over there which makes me think that this bike definitely could be a great "mule" to be used as a runaround or for teaching 🙌

    when the power is less than 10 hp compared to a 250cc and the weight is twice the weight of a 250cc, you can only wonder where is the sanity of the engineers and the management of the company. who wants to lug around an overweight underpowered bike except for brand snobs.

  • @cisa1622

    It’s a learners bike and hence low powered . The gear indicator is present but you have to scroll the small screen. I know the breaks were no good- change the pads it will work for k. The sensor for neutral light have to be replaced. HD has introduced as an upgrade from learner another far better model HD street rod 750.

    • @jasondep
      @jasondep  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that's what I figured too, even though it's underpowered it's still a good bike to cruise around in, provided the brakes are better haha which I'm glad there are ways to make it better like your suggestion with the pads 🙌 I flicked through the little screen but couldn't find a gear indicator unfortunately, so maybe later model years have it because I believe this one is older with the smaller red screen 😕

      @@jasondep I am from South Africa. I have taken the HD 750 street for a couple of rides. Liked it quite a lot. Still considering a used one. Only thing keeping me from buying one. Afraid that parts availability might become an issue in future.

      @@tinusvanwyk3008 I definitely want to see how to 750 feels compared to the 500 😊 and certainly a good point to think about in terms of parts availability considering HD cancelled these models but I'm sure there are probably aftermarket parts available that can take the place of OEM parts 🙌

    Hello, I am looking for urgent help. To install the rear tire you made the modification? I'm installing a Michelin 170/80-15 Commander 2 tire and it's so tight that it hits the battery case. The mechanic tells me that there is no way to install that tire, it will damage the fender and the battery case. Before doing that I had looked for references in different places and look, they installed tires that big without problems. Now I am frustrated because I cannot ride my motorcycle, I will have to mount the original tires and I have already paid for the new tires, in addition to changing the suspension for an 11” Progressive 412 Heavy Duty American Can you please help me!
    I want to continue with my project and not go back to the original wheels.

    Hey Jason, I find your laughing & chuckling, as you rip apart the Street 500 from Harley-Davidson, VERY disrespectful! I'm a 1st generation German/American and an auto technician. I can see the flaws of the design, &, plan to upgrade the exhaust, brakes, the gauge and the suspension. I'm NOT going to "mod the life" out of it that you don't even recognize it when done. I plan to restore respect into the bike! 🏍️😎🦅Doug

      @@jasondep in some ways I was being sarcastic, I heard a nervous laugh as you spoke of the 500s short-comings. I agree they are faults that MUST be addressed by the owners of each bike. I plan to UPgrade the exhaust once I obtain the bike! My "old world biker" buds would be on the ground in historical laughter at me if I pulled up to them on a completely stock street 500, or 750! They'd point at it, and, say through their laughter:it's a "scooter!" I'd take the paddle to the so fast, they wouldn't be able to stop laughing fast enough!😱😵😎🦅 Doug
