    I bought one of the 500s. I am 5'6" and weigh 220-230 and it has more than enough power to pull my big butt around. Rode for 13k miles last year. I rode for 16 hours straight and had no problems with the soar ass.

    Last Spring I took a BRC course and wanted to get into the world of Harley. I had no prior experience, not even passenger riding, so I looked at the Street 500. The dealer and I agreed that the 500 was made for somebody like me. I like to look at reviews from the pros, and nothing has made me regret my purchase. The only negatives I see is that it's not for experienced riders. I am thankful Harley Davidson came out with them.

    I went on a demo ride and nobody (not even the Harley Davidson staff) would go near the 500/750 street bikes. I wish it had been around when I was first learning to ride. My first bike was really top heavy and that is the last that you want when first learning. Props to Harley for throwing their hat in the ring!

      why wouldn't they touch the bike ?? Its not a bad bike for what it is !! Its menat of course for nebs and I think they are gering it towards the Indian market, lots of city driving and of course them injuns are tiny. us fat Americans need our dynas and softails

      Nilk Narf I don't know but one of the guys that was supposed to be the one behind the rest of us refused to go because it was the only bike left. He said " I won't ride that damn thing, I ain't going!", then he walked off. I think it was an ego thing

    Well,.. I WAS considering the Kawasaki Ninja 300 for a first bike being that I am a novice rider with NO riding experience whatsoever. I live in Indiana,and my nearest dealer is River City Harley Davidson in New Haven,IN. My dealer actually recommends this bike for a new rider. My brother even told me I don't want the Ninja bike. I'm 53 years old,weigh about 210,and I'm 5'10" tall. Maybe my friends who ride are right,..I need a cruiser,..not a crotch rocket. Being a novice rider,the 500 just might be what I need,..not too much power and not as intimidating as the bigger Harley bikes,...and it won't break the bank. Rather than go through MSF and ABATE for rider training,my dealer offers the H-D Riding Academy,and I'll go through that instead. I've heard horror stories about the bikes MSF and ABATE uses to teach on. I sat on a Street 500 yesterday,and I was amazed at how comfortable it was,..far more comfortable than the Ninja 300 or any other sport bike I have sat on since. Bye bye,Kawasaki,...hello H-D!

    Excellenr video! I sat on a Street 750 today and felt a little cramped on the bike, (6ft tall) I found out that HD makes a Tall Boy seat. The service man put the seat on it and I tried it out. BIG DIFFERENCE! It felt totally comfortable. People like myself who feel the bike is a little too small and cramped should give this bike a chance sitting on it with a Tall Boy seat. I was not going to buy this bike but now I plan to in the near future.

    Similar bikes are popular in mid size cities for 10-20 minute commutes to work. Get your ride in every day and park right up front, cheap on gas, cut through the odd trail if you have to....
    Pipes, seat and mirrors should be a bit more aggressive/functional but easy to change for not a lot of money.

    I got a 750 earlier this year. I put over 5k miles. My first bike. Little to no experience riding. It was a great fit. I agree with his assessment. Living in nyc this bike gets me around town with ease. Light and maneuverable for heavy traffic. I do take it on the freeway all the time and it holds fine. Ive gotten it to 110 but wouldn’t do much more. Bike simply won’t do. But how often are we over 90mph in nyc highways. Now considering to get a second bike. Looking at the low rider s to just cruise and do longer trips. Still for city use and trips less than 100miles I’ll keep bringing 750 out.

      I'm a brand new rider and here's my input on the Street 500 - I find it to be a pretty smooth ride and a great starter bike. Even if it's Harley's most lightweight bike, it's heavy enough for any beginner. I'm 5'4 and can plant both feet on the ground. You can customize it to fit you or your son though. I love it. Try it for yourself and have your son try it too. My dealer was awesome and had me sit on the other bikes, even the ones he knew I wasn't ready for (great salesmen who wanted me to see him when I'm ready for more power). I may be less experienced but negative comments on the Street 500 and 750 are from egotistical riders. If I walked to that dealership thinking I can handle a Fatboy, I am not respecting myself as a new rider and eventually would make a fool of myself out on the road. Any "starter" bike is a good investment. And it is made in the USA, if you are into that. If anyone tells you otherwise, you can prove it from the VIN.

    10:00 Never thought I'd see two of my dream vehicles in a video! On the fence whether I save up for my dream electric car with the Tesla Model 3, or jumpstart my moto hobby with the street 750. I do know for sure I can't go wrong choosing either one. Didn't realize you guys were also in West Covina until you mentioned it. Might drop by someday! Anyway, great review man.

    I like your review on the XG750,I've been looking at them since Sept. and I just bought a 2015 750 with 7 miles on it for $3,850. in the end of the year sale.Why did I buy it,because I work hard for my money and I like how it looks and if you think that I need a different Harley fine you can give me the cash to get it.With the cash I saved I plan on getting a taller seat and different mirror adapters and a Screaming Eagle Stage 1 Kit.

    Just bought a 15 Street 750 w 600 miles at a steal. First Harley, first bike. The bike is dashing in sunglow red and feels right. Putting in some practice and this meets my current needs. The mods are endless. A new vance and hines exhaust has brought this bike to life.

    Hello Matt. I have a 2015 XG750. Mysterious Red Sunglo. Now has about 8300 Miles. A few things sold me on it. The Size of the frame. At 5' 4" Tall, 140 Lbs. It fits me well. I have a bad shoulder, The Weight is good for me to handle on a longer ride. Water Cooling is a Big PLUS. Living outside of Trenton, NJ its needed. MPG's is GOOD. Have the HD Luggage Rack and Dowco bags. Things I don't like. Weak Brakes on the 15 model. I changed the Pads (F&R) to EBC 643V. Which helps. Wiring. So many exposed connectors. The shaking on the highway. No Tach or Clock. I miss the Yamaha Majesty. Which also had a Coolant and Fuel gauges. Mine has some Mods. V&H VO2 Intake, Fire Brand GP Muffler, V&H FP3. Along with an Accel Coil, Sumax 8mm Wires, NGK Iridium plugs. Has been Dyno'd at a local shop. Makes 70HP and 58 Lbs Torque. People underestimate it. Here comes the problem Harley should address. Some Dealers consider the 750 a "Starter" bike. I personally call it an Intermediate bike. Because of the Power. The 500 I consider a "Starter" bike.

    Great review. Ride a Sport Glide, but this is a good bike for city commuting. Like that it has a turn signal center reset button.

      I know this is extremely late. But I’m 5’2 130 pounds and I just got a 2017 500. Honestly after sitting on a ton of harleys I was debating this 883. But this is such a lovely bike great fit and not an intimidating amount of power. I think it’s the perfect bike I could’ve gotten. Did you end up getting one?

    Hey Matt. As the owner of a 15 Street 750. Made in Nov 14. Now with almost 13k Miles. And 3 months in the shop during the first 2 years, I would Not buy it again. The 15 model year has Weak brakes. Stage 1 Upgrades do make it better at acceleration. The Stock Michelin tires are good on wet roads. As well as Metal Grate bridges. Tread life is good as well. As I am down to 4/32". I am only 5'4" and find the Seat a little close to the gas tank. MPG's are good. Almost had 200 Miles to a tankful. I found the bike to be a little "Squirrely" on the highway. 65 here in NJ. Both times I took it to the York PA plant Tour, I was told that I was "Brave" for riding it almost 100 miles each way. This was from Harley Employees.

    I really respect the fact that harley isnt afraid to go into the 750 class. You know who they were trying to beat with this bike. Matt worked his ass off not to say the "H" word when he was going over the engine and the turn signals... we know it is like a honda in function... its ok to make a similar bike to compete with that market.

    Ive had mine for about a year and yep, standard exhaust is not impressive but it still sounds really special (vrod-y), the engineis faster than the iron and yo can rev the hell out of it if you want, the radiator throws alot of heat to the legs but it doesnt go ON very often. My only complains is a) the seat gets unconfortable after 30minutes. b) the plastics around the seat are really ugly and cheap, I wouldn´t mind paying extra for a better quality guard in there.Thats it. c) the seat is for short people, I´m 6ft and its fits really weird, I can´t imagine HIM riding lol, must have been awkward AF. The suspension is wonderful and the flat rear tired is really really fun, you can pick up speed easily for the highway.
    Plus people love it, they can´t help to look and its a conversation starter because is a new model.
    For the price its one of the best options in the market (consider you get great resale value).

      You can easily top the needle at 180km/hr (90mph? or something like that), you are gonna have to let the engine rev and make long shifts but the aceleration is faster than the one on the Iron and obviously the bolt, shadow and the scramblers, etc. Throw a bassani exhaust, a drag bar and you get a really really really mean machine.

    6'6" ???Holy moly, Im 5'9" and this bike felt like a toy between my legs !! I only suggested it to a friend as he is 5'6" and has one leg shorter than the other so he was having significant trouble even handling my sportster.

    I'm 5'4 and wondering which bike would be the best size for me. These street series look like theyre good but every video has a person that is 6 ft saying its perfect for them. lol. any recommendations? Thanks!

      I would try to sit on a street. I'm not sure why people are saying it's perfect for a 6foot person. I certainly didn't say that in my video which I assume you watched since you're commenting on it. at 5'4'' you might be on your toes a bit which isn't the end of the world but if you're just learning it's always nice to be "flat footed". I think the street is a good bike for someone starting out.

      My 2 cents, get an FZ 07 instead! Read the article where they compare these 2 bikes. I love my fz07! I'm 5' 9" and both my feet plant nicely to the ground, and its 120 lbs (give or take) lighter than the Harley, faster too. 0 to 60 is 1 second faster, 1/4 mile is like 1.25 seconds faster too. Obviously I'm biased, but you couldn't pay me to ride the HD instead of the yamaha. Oh and the fz is 2 grand cheaper. Don't buy brand new if this is your first motorcycle. Buy a learner bike first.

      I'm 5'4" and have the 750. It's the only Harley I was able to get my toes on the ground and have full reach in a complete turn. The Iron 883 I was able to touch the ground even better, but the reach to turn was really far away for me. I also changed my mirrors to bar end mirrors. The view behind me is 100% now. It's a fun bike, crazy maneuverable in the city and comfy on the butt for the long rides, great on the highways for a bike with virtually no fairing.
      Great review btw, not use to seeing anyone over 5'8" on the Street 750... Love your videos!!! BRRRAAAP

    A great bike well suited for most Asian roads and traffic...a Harley is a Harley..it wears that badge of quality...hell..I even have a chance to ride a smaller Harley..the AMF-Harley 2 stroke 125cc scrambler and its fun to ride and can even do 140+kph...blast 0-100 in just 4 seconds....

    So glad I found this...Thank you. I have already said everything I wanted to ask but prob posted on wrong video. I already bought this bike and afraid of it, Because I am older (64), have heart probs and a real beginner. We live in the country and there are dirt roads and a two lane highway to ride/practice on. The country two lane highway is very twisty and gravelly. We are going to another dealership tomorrow to see about upgrading because My hubby and I want to ride together, either on one bike or each on our own. I want to ride it...but guess I don't know what I want to ask...Can this bike be ridden in the grass? Can this bike go on a five hour trip? Especially with a passenger? Thanks for reading...

      Dorothy Wiseman yes you can ride it in the grass and on a 5 hour trip but it isn't really designed to either very well. Yes, you can ride a passenger on it.

      Well, today we did go to another dealership...I really over blew my budget...but we got another bike...a really great one...but they couldn't take the 750 so now we have two bike payments....my brain must have been made out of mush....BUT we GOT A SOFTTAIL.....we both love it so much and we are going to have lots of fights on who gets to ride it...it really sounds like a Harley!!!!!

    Hi Matt, would the Street 750 be a better 1st bike option opposed to the Night Rod Special? I understand the VRSC line up will not be offered past this year, thus, it's quite challenging to determine which I should purchase.

    Hey Matt,
    Great review. Brand new rider here. I’ve looked at a lot of bikes and I’ve sat on both the street 750/street 500. The 750 is way too much bike for me way/I cannot flatfoot it. I’m 5’6 btw (197lbs) (female).
    I can flat foot Street 500 and honestly that bike feels comfortable to duck walk and rock back-and-forth. I haven’t test rode one but it seems to wear its weight well. However it seems hard to find a preowned one with ABS.
    I was wondering how you would compare a Street 500 with ABS to a Vulcan S with ABS. The Vulcan seems to have a bit more features to it than the street 500.
    Wondering your opinion on that

    I rode a street 500 for a few days and thoroughly enjoyed it I just don’t particularly like the look of it in its standard form. I liked the customised ones far more I think Harley could have done much better with the design like they did recently with the sportster S for example.. I did enjoy it enough to want to buy a Harley either way.

    I plan to go with the 750 as a new rider. The 500 and the 750 are the same except the engine size so might as well bump the power up a little. Also not a fan of the hefty price to add abs. Great review.

    I'm female, 5'3" just getting a license and looking for a bike. I looked at the rebel and it is low enough where I stand flat foot and flat foot when I sit but I really want a Harley. Can the Harley 750 be dropped down some? Also, I want to drive around town and to work 35 miles one way on highway during the spring summer months.

    I am a short guy, so I put a lower seat on it. The problem now is that the foot pegs seem a little too close. I need forward controls, anybody installed forward controls yet?

      Dialysisforever good question. I haven't seen this bike with any type of forward controls on it. I'm not even sure if HD has a forward control kit for it off the top of my head.

    HD needs to make a forward control set for these...the ones on the market are just too expensive right now

    Matt i ride but my cousin who's a new rider wants a Harley but not sure what to get with his experience. He was looking into the 750 and iron 883 but at 6'0 240 he might be huge for those bikes. What would you recommend for a new rider but wants a nice size bike?

      A Dyna or a Softail would be good for a new rider that size.

      @@MattLaidlaw Hi, Matt. Nice review. I just took the MSF course at a Harley dealer. They used the Street 500. I am 6'3" and 240. They used the tall seat, but I still felt cramped at times, especially when doing tight turns.
      I am over 50 and don't want to wrestle some huge bike. I'd like something lighter (this weighs near 500 pounds), but from what you said about your size, I have the feeling that buying one won't work out.
      I don't care about the 500 vs 750 part since I am not looking to blast down the street - just learn carefully and take my time. I also live in an urban area.
      I did notice that the bikes seemed to have issues finding neutral. Sometimes, they were in neutral but did not register it on the dial unless I took my foot and tapped the shift pedal from the side. Really odd.
      I also think they need to include ABS as standard. New riders especially would benefit from that, and the price they charge for it is double what others charge. I think having a gear counter would be a plus as well. Again, this would help new riders like me.
      The mirrors were definitely an issue. They did not adequately cover enough territory. They need to be much larger.
      Any opinions you have will be greatly appreciated. Again, great review!

    my new harley street 750 2016 got over heat and i got shut down on busy street at vegas.. send it back to the dealer ..they gonna fixing for a week ..got bully on this lol

    Test rode a Street Rod and it was a terrible experience. My right foot and thigh were uncomfortably hot/burning, very hard to find neutral gear, engine light came on.

      Darn, sounds bad. Neutral can be hard to find on a new Harley until it breaks-in a little.

      I had a horrible experience with the 500 at the Harley MSF course. Ridiculous straight out pegs, you have to pull a David Lee Roth split to avoid the foot pegs once moving. If you're over 6 ft, forget it, the foot controls are almost impossible due to the peg position. Don't wear riding boots either or you'll never shift correctly. Couldn't find neutral and instructor kept saying I was using too much force. Guess what, he couldn't either. Then he said I was whiskey throttling it when I would pull in the clutch and give it front brake. Guess what, showed him I wasn't at a stop, the damn thing would rev itself in first when pulling in the clutch. Needless to say after much disagreement, I left the course angry and vowing never to setup foot in a Harley dealer again or ride one again. Went to a different msf and passed just fine with a bike that works.

    Unless they came down on the price Not cost conscious. Yeah I get they're trying to get to new riders but the price tag I've seen No. Sure there's a market but might as well get a Sporty for round same price.

    This bike had a great engine(s) and great price; the missed opportunity was the styling. Is it a cruiser, a naked, a sporty standard? Who knows; it's an odd mish-mash of styles and it just looks wonky/half-baked. If they had done a modern take on a 1960's Sportster standard, they would have sold loads of them to young and old riders alike. Also it needed a tach. Still; looks like a fun and playful bike to ride; and i'd love to take one for a spin some day. One thing going for this bike also in my book: if the "reeeeeeal harley dudes" don't like it (vrod) you know there must be something good about it! lol. Harley needs to try again and commit to an entry level bike in this price point, and do it right. You need to get that brand loyalty from the younger demographic otherwise you lose them for decades if not forever.

    Harley failed trying to grab college students and recent grads. I tried to go 4,000 down with a 760 credit score and I couldnt get financing. Its ok though, I'll just buy a Triumph

    the mirrors are horrendous!!! not wide enough. you cannot see whats behind you. my brother has one. ride is not too bad overall.

    I have one MATT,and what you said is BS.Tell them how easy it is to change the battery. Tell them how easy it is to find neutral,It's wide and top havey,It is not a beginners bike,Way to much power for a beginner.This thing will turn circles around the 833 Sportser.

    I had the luck to have a 2018 Street 500 for about 4000 miles. Second sentence, i liked it a lot.
    The big motors 1200cc and more will be not long around anymore. With the worldwide C02 hysteric movement, and we can expect that the liberals latest in 4 years take over, the common sense in the US will be also over.
    There will be like in China only 150cc scooters and may be a 250cc-300cc bkes. A 500cc motorcycle will be a monster bike. Electric with the cobalt batteries from Africa become the hit.
    The most manufacturer have comprehended this and are more promote on their 250-300 cc motors. Even BMW designed a 312cc Motorcycle.
    I'm looking forward to see the outcome of the HD motorcycles in the 125cc to 300 cc class. 500cc bikes will be real monsters.
    If you look over seas where the liberals already rule, 500cc und up motorcycle rider and SUV (even mini SUV) driver are ambushed, the bikes or cars destroyed and the driver/rider is lucky to survive the outrage of the school kids that are highly protected by the liberal governments whatever they do.
    So if HD doesn't respond real quick, because 4 years is in a Industry is not a time at all, I see HD diminished.
    But I like this new big HD Street bikes a lot but hesitate to buy one. I'm thinking down size from a 900cc that will be replaced.
    I'm looking more in a BMW 310r, Honda 300 Reb, Suzuki 250 or the Kawasaki x300. Since I planning on riding a bike further more, It's smarter and safer on the long run.
    I know that is not a HD. Right, but you can't ride on a 8 cylinder suburban anymore. You have to go with the time, or you have to go with the time.

      I think Harley had been directing this bike for the beginner bikers who wanted their bike to maintain a decent price. Having the Harley emblem and Harley factory parts is a large factor in keeping the value of your motorcycle. I think Harley meant this bike for the beginners who wanted to learn and possible trade in the bike later. They probably weren't thinking about how it sounded. (Which btw... you can buy mufflers that will give you that "Harley" sound. Or if you want fire bursting from the end of your bike, go with straight pipes...)

      Jerry, I have been riding for 44 years and have split lanes for all of those years since I live in CA where it is legal to do so. I was in Sparks, NV when I saw a HD Electra Glide stopped at at line of cars and the gal behind him was doing 50 mph when she hit him from behind. His EG flew over my right side onto the sidewalk and he went through her windshield. IF he had of split lanes, like I did in a State where lane splitting is illegal, he would be alive today. I am here, he is not. Government kills its own people with stupid laws and those who follow stupid laws, die from their "Sheople" approach in life. This was in 2012.
