I picked up a manual hatch and was so scared to drive it at first. I stalled multiple times at the test drive and almost did not buy the car. 2 months later and I’m feeling so much better about driving it. We really all do start somewhere and thank you for being real with it!

Damn this brings back memories. I’m 32 and I bought my first car when I was 20. It’s was a Mazda MX5 with a 5 speed manual. I didn’t know how to drive stick and my step dad drive it home. But he refused to teach me. I stayed up till 3am when traffic was light and taught myself. I never looked back. Every car I e ever owned since then was a manual. You choose a HELL of a car to learn to drive stick on, but you’re a natural bro. I wish you lots of smiles man. SO happy for you brother. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Hope I can get lucky and get one too.

Don't worry about being laughed at for stalling. We all have to start somewhere. Even people who has been driving manual on a regular basis can still stall once in a while for a variety of reasons.
Take it easy and it'll be second nature for you in a week or two.

Just going back into the past vid(This) because I've watched your buying process vid.
This is for those who are FIRST EVER learning how-to drive Standard vehicles.
Usually when I teach people when they first-ever try to learn how to drive standard, and I can relate this to riding a Motorcycle: In terms of a motorcycle they have(as well as in cars but way more forgiving) what we call a "friction zone." This Friction Zone is an area in the clutch lever[(in this case: pedal) when the vehicle is in Gear] that grabs onto the gear and "assists" the vehicle to go in motion. In that area, you add gas. When you're learning on a motorcycle, your instructors want you to feel the Friction Zone, and when you do "feel" the zone adding gas comes easier. When adding it comes easier, then you can focus on shifting, then etc. etc. Remember to let off on the clutch as you don't want to burn it lol.

Dude this video is so comforting, you don't even know. I'm getting a circuit edition this week and its my first manual car. I'm exited to get it but dreading the drive back. I literally only practiced once driving stick, and getting the car to move from 1st gear was the most challenging. I practiced for a couple hours and was getting it down, but don't have it 100%. I practiced on an Old Integra LS and the clutch was super sensitive. Wish me luck bro!

Do this. On a flat surface dont give it gas and put it in 1st. Slowy release the clutch. The point were the car starts crawling without giving it gas. This point is really really close to your release point. Learn that pedal feel with your left foot. Do it again and give it gas and from there every other gear is easier than 1st.

Does the engine come broken in from the factory or does the owner manual prescribed a break in period ?
Owner manual says for the first 621 miles to not :
Do not drive at extremely high speeds
Avoid sudden acceleration
Do not drive continuously in low gears
Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods
Does this car have the i manual mode? My XSE had it and I taught my wife how to drive on it. I applaud you for being brave enough to purchase a car you don’t know how to drive yet. But if you have i mode, just let the clutch out slowly and the car will get going on it’s own.

@@GeovanisGarage Driving manual cars is a feel, you are actually connected to every aspect of it, man I miss my Hatchback, it was blast to drive and handled like a champ for what it is. I come from driving manual Camaros, Mustangs and Vettes so the Corolla was a refreshing comfortable and easy car to drive, Toyota clutches feel great. I’m jealous of the GR bro congrats, new year with plenty of content.

@@GeovanisGarage Definitely a blessing. I was in the same situation only familiar with the basics and i wanted to be proficient to drive manual. So i had my father-in-law come with me to the dealership and he drove my manual corolla IM home and afterwards forced myself to drive manual and love it.

Aye bro you got it just gonna take a lot of practice and muscle memory don’t worry about trying to do it fast or anything like that don’t let the people behind you rush you into going just take your time n get you body used to driving stick cause it is gonna take a while my first car was a 2004 Sti back when I was in high school in 2005 n it’s all just muscle memory at the end of the day just take your time let your body get used to driving manual and no slamming the gas😆😂🤣 just ease into it my guy. lol but congrats on the new whip can’t wait to see what you got planned for it

Once you get the hang of it you won’t ride the clutch I own a 21’ Tacoma off-road 4x4 manual and I love my janky ass six speed lol. Doubt that the Corolla gr isn’t as janky as my Toyota

I would recommend the break in as the owners manual recommends! 681 miles!

Technically yes, the manual says no sudden acceleration & no high speeds. It doesn’t give a RPM!

@@GeovanisGarage I meant to give you advice that I learned when learning manual! First, practice learning to control the throttle and hold it steady at like 1500rpms. Once youre comfortable, 1) Clutch in, 2) hold throttle at 1500 3) slowly release the clutch until you start to feel the clutch engagement, and the car starts moving, then apply more throttle to get moving and slowly release the clutch! Hope this helps!

dude, u need to practice in parking lot until u don't stall before going on the street. driving it's the easiest thing, give it a lil gas then release clutch slowly. you're endangering yourself and others on public roads. man u wear a lexus shirt, u seem like a nice guy, but u need to stay off public roads until u stop stalling the car in 1st gear
