Elvis was raised in the ghetto so he knows the life. It is great to see reactions from others outside of the USA to the King Elvis Presley. I am 63 years old and have been and will always be an Elvis fan. He was an amazing entertainer and human being who left us way too young. The day he died will remain one of my saddest memories. Thank you for sharing another great Elvis performance.
Elvis was King of rock everywhere. Also here in the north. My father was a huge Elvis fan and I grew up listening to him and other oldies. I'm from Finland and a bit over 40 years old.
It was written by Mac Davis for him. His backup singers were black women. What alot of people don't know is that he refused to preform at a venue that wouldn't let his backup singers there because they were black. Great man who believed in equality.
That song written by Mac Davis in 1969 was the true story of what happens in the inner city in ever state of our great country. Elvis recorded it even though his manager, Col. Parker did not want him to record it because he felt it was too controvertional. Elvis recorded it anyway. Sadly, nothing has changed 55 years after he recorded this great song. Elvis was not just an amazing singer, he was a man of concious and empathy. You don't never get that from other entertainers. That's why Elvis is and will ALWAYS BE THE KING. Long Live The King and his legacy.❤❤❤❤❤
This is a great song. Elvis is one of the best singers that has ever lived. He was also a fabulous entertainer. There is a reason he is called "The King". He had a great voice & could sing anything whether it was ballads, gospel or rock. I also enjoy watching a lot of his old movies even though they were a bit corny, but the music was always great.
I love this song so much. He definitely knew how to hold the audience. Song was written by Mac Davis who was also an artist I really liked. Mac had several good ballads and you should check out It's Hard To Be Humble.
a Mac Davis composition …. very deep and, unfortunately, still relevant today ….. Mac passed recently …. a talented and prolific songwriter …. RIP >…………….. if you are interested, this song was recorded at American Sound Studios for Elvis’ “Live from Memphis” album and there are outtakes from this and other classic Elvis songs depicting the actual recording process for these hits here on TH-cam ….. thanks for keeping good music live ….
My mom became a fan when Elvis first started and in 1967 our family moved to Las Vegas , a few years later she worked at the international hotel where Elvis performed, it was her dream come true lol, when she finished up she would go stand in the back of the showroom and watch and everytime he would come into town his guy's would bring in crates of albums to let employees go thru and pick out what they liked, he was known for being very kind and generous, the whole town buzzed when he was there...♡
This song was presented to Sammy Davis Jr. And he said I can not do this so g justice..take it to my good friend Elvis. Absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed your reaction. Suspicious Minds live Las Vegas 1970 is a great one. Looking forward to what you do next. TCB👑⚡️
Wow, for a Brit to say that Elvis is the best singer we've ever had (or, whatever it was, you said), and not, say, the Beatles, who were from the same era, is really saying alot---that was wonderful!!! Yeah, if you were talking about the black, female backup singers (he also had The Stamps Quartet - a white male backup group), I agree; they're fabulous!! That's the group, The Sweet Inspirations, that Cissy Houston, Whitney Houston's mother, founded in the 50s. She wasn't in this vid, though, as she had left the group in '69, after having only sung with Elvis, for a year. I saw an interview with Whitney, where she spoke about Elvis having such a presence---how you could feel him walk in a room, before you ever saw him; and, that she loved him. Sometimes, Elvis, back in the day, was told he couldn't bring his black singers, and he would tell the venue that he wouldn't play there, then!
Even though he was losing his fight with drugs at the end of his life, it was wonderful to hear him again when he was The King! You can tell from his live performances that he was not a "studio made" artist. He was as good, if not better in person. It was one of the things in life that makes an indelible mark in your memory - I remember where I was and what I was doing when the news came that he had passed away. Thank you for this reaction!
Me too shug, me too😢. I was too young for the JFK memory, but the 👑 King, oh yeah, I certainly do remember and I also member me and my Mama both havin to be consoled by Daddy. Altho, he also had tears 😭❣️.
Another beautiful song of Elvis is Take My Hand , Precious Lord. This is such a powerful message in this one. All his music is great. Your reactions are meaningful. 🎼🦋🎶💕🎵
I immediately subscribed when I saw you slipping into the Elvis rabbit hole. With a catalog of over 700 songs, it's a very deep but exciting hole to be in. Reacting to these will give you a great introduction to Elvis's music and to Elvis as a person: (1) Elvis Presley - Music Evolution (1954-1977) (7:32) (this is a series of live performance clips that spans his whole career) and (2) Elvis Presley and the Black Community - That Echo Will Never Die (14:30).
Had anyone noticed the look on Elvis face right after, "Take a look at you and me". You can see such meaning in his face. Almost a brief look of anger.
I rember when i read first side of the Newsletter Elvis is dead, i cryed so much, more like in my life bevor ! He was the one and only King of Rock 'n Roll ! Greatings from germany ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
One of my Elvis favorites, do much emotion. His background singers were the Jordanairs, Whitney Houston’s mother, Sissy Houston was one of them. Southern royalty.
If you like "In the Ghetto" you also should listen to "If I can dream" (the live version of the 1968 comeback special with the white suit) and "Walk a mile in my shoes". His gospel songs are great, too, e. g. "How great thou art", "Stand by me", "Crying in the chapel" or "Peace in the valley".
To take a line from a song that i heard about Elvis, "The King is gone........The King is gone......... Long live his name!! And that is exactly what is happening!! You should really check out, Cry like Memphis, It's sad but beautiful!!
Oh mercy that voice and this song gets to me. One of my older brothers use to walk around singing this. He's been gone since 98 and this song still brings those memories back.
Elvis loved gospel quartets and gospel music in general so he always had southern gospel quartets as his back up singers and they always have great harmonies so always matches with Elvis. ❤
Every year for Mother’s Day I’d take my mom to see Elvis. I’ve been to all kinds of concerts, rock, country, R&B, but nothing, absolutely nothing compares to Elvis. Electricity in the audience made your hair stand up (literally)! 4 sometimes 5 generations in the crowd. Always a fantastic show
Greetings mate . Watched a number of your reactions . couldn`t help but notice that your reactions are so authentic, more than a bit rare this days . Couldn`t help but notice your real emotion . Obviously brought on by your focus and deep feeling !!yes ELVIS is king , and yes he fully understood the plight of the prominently black folks in the GETTO l!! Loved the song . Loved the singer . Loved your reaction !!! keep them coming mate .
Thank you for your reaction! Not only is his voice and stage presence in a league of it's own, he orchestrated the whole performance and created the feeling he desired to convey. He was a master of that and added his special unique spontaniousness that just came natural no scripts! How blessed we are to experience this multifaceted talent that was like a force of nature inspired by his faith, his passion of music and his desire to share it with his fans. He touched lives, hearts and souls, through his music and his extraordinary generosity to individual's and numerous charities. He shared a huge portion of his wealth from the beginning of his career until he passed away. One of his most known donation for charity was the Aloha Hawaii Concert. That was the first world wide televised concert. It was watched by 1 1/2 billion people more then the number of people who watched the moon landing. There is so much more to Elvis then his music. Elvis was a man that truly cared about all people and actively did things to help when he could and never forgot his beginnings. He was always grateful for his fans and strived to do his best always.
Think how amazing this is Elvis is Vegas singing to famous celebrities black and white and Elvis does a lot of message songs his manager said we don't do message songs it will ruin your career but Elvis said after doing if I dream we would only do songs that mean something to me and he did
I subbed! You are a great reactor! You totally get it! Everything you said was spot on! I know you have a list, but I'm gonna add to it, if possible. 1970 live in Vegas Just Pretend/Polk Salad Annie 68 Comeback Special in white suit If I Can Dream...in black leather sitting down jamming out, Heartbreak Hotel/Lawdy Miss Clawdy/One Night With you His rehearsal Words and gospel Never Walk Alone- 1972 How Great Thou Art. Thank you! TCB ⚡👑🎶😎
Many ppl don't get that he grew up dirt poor and alone of reactor ask what does Elvis know about the ghetto and poor. Its frustrating ppl need to do alittle background at least 9n the artist if they don't know anything. Ty for being knowledgeable sir.
Wonderful reaction! Could you also react to: Elvis Presley & Lisa Marie Presley "In the Ghetto" (3:10). This is Elvis's daughter. He passed away when she was nine years old.
Greetings from New Orleans/Mardi Gras & KOE/the Krewe of Elvis!!! Don’t beat yourself up too much- just today my husband & I were giggling about Cartman’s cover of ITG😍 My husband was lucky enough to see Elvis perform live in Chicago. While I’m a native Tennessean, it was my native Chicagoan husband who was the Elvis fan & brought me around. These days he spends quite a bit of time on your side of the pond bc of a lil place called 👢👢.😉 The hubby, not Elvis😂 At least not that I know of😅 If I Can Dream (a tribute to MLK) the 68 special white suit version Walk A Mile In My Shoes live w story Bridge Over Troubled Water live And a must see- the minidoc (14mins) Elvis and The Black Community: That Echo Will Never Die. Please. Send. Crunchies!!! lol Stay safe & love much💖 Cheers!
My man Elvis beautiful inside and out. You should check out 1970 Suspicious Minds, Just Pretend, the Jailhouse Rock video, Mean Woman Blues video, Hound Dog and his appearances from the Ed Sullivan show
What you said about appreciating it now that you are older I feel the same. I don’t know how you feel about the Bee Gees, but I can really appreciate how goid they really were now that I am older and can watch them.
Thanks for sharing the South Park clip. I gather Elvis has been included in other comics. Ironic for his great talent to be remembered by so many comics and impersonators, leaving people thinking of him as a joke. Glad to see you giving him his due.
Fantastic reaction I've been an Elvis fan for 45 years and I can and have watched the same songs and performances over and over again and he never gets old and I love seeing new people fall under his spell 😁
Just found you through your Elvis reactions. I’m addicted to Elvis and can watch him all day. You said in a previous reaction that you don’t want to react to well known Elvis songs as you know them. My advice, you need to. Even the best known songs are completely different live. You mentioned Suspicious Minds, but the 1970 Vegas version of this is something else. Just don’t want you to miss out cos what you think you know could end up being something completely different. Enjoy Elvis, you have so much goodness to see 💙

I’ve always loved this song. I’m binge watching your reactions. Have you done If I can dream? To my knowledge, he only did it one time on TV - MLK Jr tribute. It’s amazing!
Elvis obliterates South Park. The man’s voice is just amazing, and the content…. You should do the 1960 Elvis on the Frank Sinatra Show, when he came back from Germany. But do the whole clip - first part he duets with Sinatra and then he sings Stuck on you(I think🤞😁), in a tuxedo (🥰) black and white.
I totally know how South Park can cause inappropriate response. We went to see Pearl Harbor in the theater and when Roosevelt was rolled into the scene in his wheelchair as we’re about to go to war one of my irreverent friend called out, “Timmy!” In Cartman’s voice, of course. And then when he went on live tv to announce joining the battle he stood up with the help of braces… Yup, you guessed it. “Jimmy!” Of course this was in their heyday, but my friend Jen and I whispered…”OMG, we’re going to hell.” BTW, I LOVE Elvis, but I still understand where you felt the needed to pre-empt your potential response. My personal fave is Are You Lonesome Tonight, though it used to be Can’t Help Falling In Love. Also, his gospel album is amazing. Personal fave was In the Garden. I love that Elvis and Johnny Cash are the only two artists who are both in the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Totally makes sense considering their overall impact on music.
The great Mac Davis wrote this song and took it to Sammy Davis Jr first and Sammy told him to take it to Elvis because he had lived it. You should also check out Elvis 68 comeback special, If I can Dream and Trying to get to you
Thanks for doing this reaction. Wow. This brings back wonderful memories of Elvis songs and Elvis movies. Undoubtedly, one of the greatest singers and performers with great stage presence. Remember the nickname Elvis the Pelvis - he could swing his hips on stage. RIP King of Rock. Please do more Elvis reactions - "Love Me Tender" sung at the end of the movie of the same name and "Can't Help Falling In Love With You".
The backup singers for Elvis included a trio of black women who went by the name, The Sweet Inspirations, and one of those singers was named Cissy Houston, who just happened to have a little girl named Whitney who you might have heard of.
LOVE Your sweet personality!!! I LOVE LOVE Elvis! My Daddy use to sing & play his Fender Stratocaster a 63 He bought when he was 16 He'd sing Elvis songs and Country "Legends" Merle Haggard Willie Waylon Jennings George Jones Johnny Cash ETC.... He just passed of Covid at age 73 its only been a year now!!! OH How I miss my Daddy! / My Hero!!!! RIP Thanks for reacting to Elvis!!! I am going to check out your songs / Elvis and others and make some suggestions maybe Thanks Darling 😁😁😁😁 NEW SUB
I had never seen South Parks version and I have to tell you that I laughed so hard there were tears rolling down my face. LOL hahahahahha It's okay to laugh at that because it's funny and really has nothing to do with Elvis or the meaning of it so thanks for showing it! You hit the nail on the head when you spoke of the energy he brought. I did see him live and I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He had a presence like I've never seen and I'm impressed that you got that seeing you never saw him live. I did and it was just like that.
went #1 took guts for him to do this at the time 50 odd years later and nothing has changed
Tupelo ,Mississippi is rural not ghetto
His parents were middle-class but not ghetto. They didn't live in an apartment in the bad side of the city.
@Joan Yow He grew up dirt, poor! They were not middle class!
Live can be hard in different ways
You really never need to say Elvis Presley because Elvis is just enough.
He was the best
He could captivate an audience. They were mesmerized by his energy , soulfulness and that voice! 💙💙
Elvis was like brought up in the ghetto his family was dirt poor but he had the love of his mother and God to carry him through life.
What a great reaction. You GET it.
Elvis Sings gospel really nice.
I love this song so much. He definitely knew how to hold the audience. Song was written by Mac Davis who was also an artist I really liked. Mac had several good ballads and you should check out It's Hard To Be Humble.
I love this song, he understands what it was like ❤❤❤❤❤
You explained his stage presence spot on . TY

I was thinking that Mac Davis wrote this!

"YOU SAW ME CRYING IN THE CHAPEL" ELVIS
There’s Elvis and there are all the rest
Great song, great performance. Can't wait for your reaction on "Unchained Melody"from 1977 a few weeks before his death.

Have you heard Poke salad Annie, it's fun. Also a serious song is, If I can dream. Beautiful
Another beautiful song of Elvis is Take My Hand , Precious Lord. This is such a powerful message in this one. All his music is great. Your reactions are meaningful. 🎼🦋🎶💕🎵

Glad you're reacting to Elvis and very respectfully so. You might also want to listen to something from Mac Davis who wrote "In the Ghetto".
Mac was also a very good singer!
Bossa Baby great song and dancing by Elvis
I am glad you listened to this, it is so packed with feeling and meaning, it would be a shame for you to only know it by that clip you played.
I actually saw Elvis live :)
His sooo incredible cool to look at

Look for "Life" of Elvis, it's beautiful and "Who am I" and also "If that isn't love"
Beautiful performance. He was incredible to look at. Vicki
Incredible reaction, we want more Elvis.
Elvis recorded 2 versions of Lonely Man. The solo one with only his guitar is wonderful. He sang to Tuesday Weld in The movie Wild In The Country.
As a teenager Elvis was all for me. As a grandmother now, I enjoy South Park more than I should.
Think how amazing this is Elvis is Vegas singing to famous celebrities black and white and Elvis does a lot of message songs his manager said we don't do message songs it will ruin your career but Elvis said after doing if I dream we would only do songs that mean something to me and he did

He sings this with such heart and soul he grew up very very poor in tupelo ms.. he never forgot where he came from..
I get chill bumps when he turns his face to the camera at the last. The intensity and tragedy of the song is magnified. Yes indeed, Elvis is the King.
If I can dream live is awesome
Just found you through your Elvis reactions. I’m addicted to Elvis and can watch him all day. You said in a previous reaction that you don’t want to react to well known Elvis songs as you know them. My advice, you need to. Even the best known songs are completely different live. You mentioned Suspicious Minds, but the 1970 Vegas version of this is something else. Just don’t want you to miss out cos what you think you know could end up being something completely different. Enjoy Elvis, you have so much goodness to see 💙
Whitney Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, is one of his backup singers. The backup group was called The Sweet Inspirations.
When this was filmed in 1970 Cissy had already left the group, in part to spend more time with Whitney.
Such a wonderful reaction to this great man 💕💕
Watch the Elvis 68 come back special. Lots of good music.
Gotta love Elvis!👍🏼💗🎼 This was in his Karate days.🤗

Elvis is hands down my favorite artist and this is my favorite song. It gets me every single time.
This song was originally titled 'The Vicious Circle'.....
Listen to "OH DANNY BOY" it is out of this world.
I’ve always loved this song. I’m binge watching your reactions. Have you done If I can dream? To my knowledge, he only did it one time on TV - MLK Jr tribute. It’s amazing!
You have to hear the French Canadian kid by the name of David Thibault . At the at of 16 he sounded just like Elvis when he sang.
Great song he had so many I like the song 🎵 clean up your own backyard from the movie trouble with girls
“Jimmy!” Of course this was in their heyday, but my friend Jen and I whispered…”OMG, we’re going to hell.”
BTW, I LOVE Elvis, but I still understand where you felt the needed to pre-empt your potential response.

♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
This makes me cry every time, but especially today, Tina Turner passed away, and the losses we have endured in the music industry are just so sad.
The backup singers for Elvis included a trio of black women who went by the name, The Sweet Inspirations, and one of those singers was named Cissy Houston, who just happened to have a little girl named Whitney who you might have heard of.
Not in this 1970 performance, Cissy was in the group during the start of Elvis’ run at the International Hotel in 1969, though.
*The biggest musical movie of 2022 is about to hit the World mid year - ELVIS* (Reaction videos to his music will skyrocket.)
You need to react to this song with his daughter, Lisa Marie singing with him. It’s edited to look like it’s a duet. It’s amazing.

For live performances, the best are from LIVE IN LAS VEGAS, LIVE FROM HAWAII, AND THE 1968 COMEBACK SPECIAL.
1st time I heard that south Park on this video, it runs in my head & I had to chuckle.
Whitney Houston’s mom was one of Elvis Presley back up singers
