If I wanted to seek asylum in Japan because my country was a Nazi regime. I would have ZERO ISSUES with Japanese people sending me to work in a rice farm in the middle of nowhere. I would feel like such a waste of life, knowing I wasn't contributing or doing something. To help the country which just took me in and possibly saved my life. I don't understand how we do not have work lined up for the immigrants that want to stay within the United States. Instead we have hotels, gifts cards and busses lined up for them to go wherever they want. When you join the air force, coast guard, etc. they don't even let you chose which location you're going to be stationed at. I have no issues helping people in need but when the people in need have more rights then American citizens, it's just gives you such a migraine headache because logically doesn't make any sense.
You are correct. They could also be taking English classes, US History classes, etc or given stipends to keep their streets/shelters clean

Secondly, NY is offering plane tickets to migrants who want to go somewhere else. Apparently, there aren't a lot of migrants who want to leave. Every new benefit provided to cater to the migrants' needs just reinforces why they're coming to NYC and why they're not leaving.

That’s kinda of upsetting, I’m single and newly disabled and fighting for social security benefits. With no payment assistance from the state I live in California. And I’ve burned through my savings and business fund, which I had to shut down my business. I get a family gets 1400 but families here don’t even get that in California and most of them that are impoverished are living in shacks and vans! Why did the state and government allow corporations to out price the market for the working class and then open its doors to immigrants and then say it’s overloading the system? If America work as so many people claimed they said it has which it never has except for the wealthy. Why are the middle and lower class to suffer and fight each other. I honestly don’t believe that either political party cares for anyone under the 100,000 yr income bracket. Both parties to me are failures at the growing wealth gap.

This is a perspective from another immigrant. I immigrated to the US in 2009 NYC was my first city. I applied for a work visa and I brought money that I saved to get me started. I didn’t have a SSN so I couldn’t apply for any credit cards for atleast 3 months. The only way I could pay for stuff was cash or credit card from my home country.
I remember one time I landed at EWR and the customs 🛃 people asked me if I had any money and how much. They weren’t going to let me into the country trying if I couldn’t prove that I could support myself…
The fact that these people can just show up and get free handouts is insane.
I’ve been fortunate enough to be employed for the last 15 years. I’ve paid all my taxes and I never took a dime from the system.

I’ve been ill since 2018 and permanently disabled from a 2003 accident. I went on a Medicaid waiver in 2019 because I am not well enough to work but not sick enough to stay in a nursing home. I can barely survive between me and my service dog. I am grateful for what I get, but I would love to be able to have that kind of extra spending power for food and other basic necessities. Or how about help for my medically necessary service dog who is my legal medical equipment yet his expenses are not covered by Medicare and Medicaid like other medical equipment costing 5-6 figures, plus being able to get them serviced/repaired regularly? Because I have to pay for his needs myself, I go without things for me.
I mean, is that right that someone in my position should be struggling?! I was born and raised in this city. I’ve paid taxes in this city and country. It’s not my fault that I had a life altering accident. Yet these people can just walk into our town and get everything and anything no problem? I’m as liberal as they come, but this is wrong and needs to stop. It won’t discourage people from straining and ruining our city, and it surely isn’t helping us people who’ve lived here for decades and truly need the help.
Oh and while you’re at it, NY, fix the Medicaid waiver contracts. 600 sick people in this program who are supposed to have guaranteed rent help may lose roofs over our heads because of a contract renegotiation where our landlords and coned are not getting checks by the third party responsible to pay them. We are into month 3 of that ordeal. If my family didn’t come up with some emergency money, my landlord was already talking eviction proceedings. Most families can’t come up rent money for their sick family member indefinitely, and many people don’t have a family to come up with a month’s worth let alone three months at this point. How about fixing this problem nobody seems to be talking about, NY?! I used to be proud to come from NYC, but I don’t know if I’m feeling like that in recent years.
