Finally, a sensible approach. Why cut C02 in one sector and increase in another 🤔 Australia has the natural competitive advantage to have the cheapest power.
It’s so encouraging to hear a politician speaking the truth, recognising scientific reality, having a vision and developing plans in the best interests of Australians and Australia. Thank you, Larissa. Thank you Greens.
there's no scientific reality at all in this speech. CO2 is a trace gas, does not create global warming and is absolutely necessary for LIFE. The Greens are pushing lies.
Hi Larissa, what happens if the target isn't met? Could the greens table a bill in the lower house to state-fund green energy production to actually meet the target? Qld labour senator Anthony Chisolm used to be a lobbyist for Santos so it really should be no surprise to you that they're not serious about hitting the target.
We cant reduce global emissions by banning new coal and gas projects (as the Greens claim), in fact it causes global emissions to increase, as our trade partners will source their coal and gas from lower quality suppliers. If the Greens really were interested in lowering emissions they would be encouraging technological development of new energy technologies, like nuclear SMRs.
How about just doing the right thing by Australians, The Green Utopia is one extreme & corporate greed the other extreme, where screwed either way. MSR Nuclear solves all the dreams, reliable energy integrated into a existing system . The green machine is a long walk on short jetty. So help us😢
Yeah, the best thing we could do to fix the unexpected long denied problems caused by waste in a mere 150 years, is jump to a solution creating waste that will be dangerous for as long as humans have walked the earth. 250k years- can you explain how rocks won't move and landformations won't change in that time? Maybe if any in the nuclear industry had worked on cleaning any of the problems they've already created it'd be in the game. But just because miners want to keep making mega bucks doesn't mean it's a good idea
Well said. You know, there's a way to end the political donations from that sector and best control an effective transition at the same time... nationalisation.
This grub's comments on the Family Law amendments means I will never, ever vote Greens. Commented here because comments are turned of there, perhaps because they're so biased, one-sided and bigoted.
How are you going to make windmills and solar panels, install these devices, maintain them, decommission them, dispose of them, and replace them without coal, oil, and gas? How are you going to manufacture electric cars and batteries without coal, oil, and gas? It takes 7 gallons of oil to make 1 tyre on average. How are you going to put tyres on your Teslas without the oil industry? With respect, your vision is blurred, your science is nothing but politics, your influence is disastrous and deadly on a huge scale, and there is no truth in your claims at all. I'm sure your technologies have their place, but they must complement and enhance the oil industry not complete with or abolish it.
Yeah, you're right, we'll just have to design walkable cities. Will probably need to grow food in our backyards and stop relying on major supermarkets in order to really reduce those supply chains. Great point!
@@baldbeardedbloke6887 You mean tyres. Also yeah we can do that, they're just more expensive at the moment. If only there was some sort of tax on carbon emissions...
Well you don't need to burn oil or coal to create rubber. So I don't see why we need to make tyres without rubber... In fact given that oil and coal are non-renewable resources that aren't found on any other planet, don't you think we should stop wasting it by burning it as fuel, so future generations can still have synthetic materials like rubber? 74% of oil is used for petrol and diesel whilst the rest is largely single use plastics. If we eliminate all that, which we can, we could use current oil field for decades without needing to open up more.
