    This 1971 Ford Mustang BOSS 351 is quite a ride, with it’s high-compression, heavy-breathing 351 Cleveland building 330 HP horsepower and competition suspension. This one is also different in that it wears a special order color, and shows less than 900 original miles! From The Brothers Collection.

    At 21 years of age, I bought a brand new 71 Mustang Fastback. It had the 351 Cleveland Engine, Hurst 4 speed, & functional Ram Air. It was blue, with back interior, and a silver hood. I think it was was the coolest and prettiest car I've ever owned. It was so fun to drive, and it was very, very fast. I'll never forget one Saturday night easily taking it up to 120 mph on I-94 near Detroit Metro Airport. Yeah... I wish I still had that car.

    My first car was a black/black 71 Boss. I was 17 when my dad handed me the keys! he bought it when I was 15 in 1976 for $1,200.00! He used to tell me I was going to wax the paint off the thing because I kept it shinning every weekend with a lot of elbow grease and Kit car wax! Unfortunately a bad man came buy our house on Sunday as we all ate supper. He made my dad an offer for the car he couldn't refuse and I saw half my heart drive out of my world that day, I was sick.... about 6 months later and many disappointing test drives my dad blew my mind again and tossed me a set of keys to an immaculate 1 owner 69 SS 396 Nova! What a beast! But That black stallion stole my heart! I have had many mustangs since and currently driving a 2015 Ecoboost. Love the looks, love the mileage but miss the horses...

    Boy the Brothers must have paid handsomely for this car. The '71 Mustangs it has been said were really the best riding Stangs, and what a bold design. It is a shame so few of these Bosses were built, Ford should have offered an automatic version and would probably have at least doubled their production. The standard 351 Cleveland 4-Barrel in 1971 was also a high compression engine with a specific intake and heads, a sound performer, very much different than the 2V car, and really a great car to acquire.

  • @steves4639
    @steves4639 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    man what an awesome car. one reason for the size increase for '71 was Bunkie Knudsen's belief that American's wanted big engines...which they did. to get the 429 into the Mustang took a bigger space between the shock towers. which, to keep it proportional, required a bigger car all around. my '70, with a big-port Cleveland, is almost impossible to get #2 and #3 plugs out...a 429 would not have fit...which is also why the 70 Mustang had a 428 while all the other BB '70 Fords were 429's. The first '71 I saw, as an 10 year old back when they were new, was a grabber green sportsroof...I was amazed at the flat rear window...thought it was the coolest thing ever. A '71, esp the Boss, would be very cool.

A 73 Mustang 351 car getting stomped by any 1970 car would not surprise me. A mach I version of this model was the first Mustang I saw at 19 that blew me away. I do like these a lot, but the 69 is my favorite. I'm kind of glad they changed it when they did because that means there are less 69's out there. One thing I love about old cars is that they changed or tweaked them every year. I like the 70 as well, but just the two minor changes they made I don't care for that much, but I love that every year back then the muscle cars would get changed. Nowadays they keep the same one for years and years with o change. But yeah, the 69 is amazing looking.

      I've heard the 69/70 Shelby borrowed the look from the 71 still being developed.
      So how is it the 69 looked fast standing still, yet the 71-3 looks like a brick?

      Darrell Kidd, that,s exactly what I was thinking when I watched this video I used to own a 69 Mustang and then a 70 Mach 1 back in the late 70,s I always thought they were the best looking Mustangs and they where only made in that style for two years.

    This particular engine was recently rated in retrospect to be the most powerful factory spec small block of all during muscle car period. Actually dyno at 380 something hp at crank.

    Well, I think it (still) looks fabulous. But in my totally unbiased 😂lol opinion, our Aussie Ford Coupes of the early 70s looked even better!
