Finally someone puts respect on coded and recoded’s name! It was my first KH game and it’s what got me hooked to the series. I’m so glad I can emulate it on my iPhone same as days :). Great vid
I almost got mugged by a crackhead in Union Square because I went to GameStop a week early. And when the time came, they didn't give me my preorder content at GameStop.
Fucking thank you, man. I remember when Coded came out, I couldn't play it, but I followed all the mysteries intently, and you're absolutely right, it was more of a glimpse into the future of KH's storyline than BBS was. The book, the Mickey letter, the way it broke open KH into a metatextual narrative, etc. I remember thinking the theorizing was at its best around this time.
Now this is the kind of solid critical analysis that the Kingdom Hearts fandom needs. Good stuff! The pataphysics explanation makes me feel like another layer of understanding of this series' story has been unlocked for me
Hey, I play Re:Coded on my DS, and its an amazing way to play the story. Re:Coded should've been ported up like KH3D was. SquareEnix could have done it easily, too 🙄
Actually, I have heard (though I have no proof) that they couldn't for initial release of 1.5 and 2.5, cuz they lost the source code for KH1, that they planned to use for 358/2 days and later ReCoded, but they had to scrap those plans and focus on rebuiding KH1.
Listening to you talk about Coded sounds very similar to how I talk about Chain of Memories. Shame that the more philosphical games in the series are also the ones that people have the easiest time shying away from.
I think you meant a DS and not a Gameboy, that's what you need to play the original Re:Coded. Re:Coded from what I recall started out as a mobile game.
I managed to get Re:Coded for DS for $29.99 and I almost cried Having another full playthrough of games with my wife, just couldn’t manage to get 358/2😔 thank you final mix for at least giving us the story
This is certainly a refreshing take on Coded after all the story bashing the community has done on it (and yes, even myself). I'll have to remember this perspective when I eventually replay the game
I appreciate your video, but i don't totally agree with the importance of this game. Is more about the lore than actual main story. It foreshadow the book of prophecy, and explain a little about the mickey letter, but still you can skip this game and understand KH3 without it. It explains that everything can have a heart, and all the pain stuff, but there's no practical use in terms of main story. Unfortunately even the execution is really poor, and the pacing is a mess. Even the SE video about "in what order play the series" forget to mention this game at first. It's a must for fans who want to explore every little aspect of the universe, but not necessary. Anyway, idc too much about the story, the most important thing in a videogame is the gameplay. Best deck-based combat system in the series, but unfortunately ruined by gimmicks and slow paced exploration. I'd say is underrated for the combat, but not for the rest. Anyway, i still like your video, you explained stuff that a lot of ppl didn't realized, even if not completely necessary... for now

Average dream drop experience
You describe it more beautifully then it is portrayed in execution, and THAT is the true spirit of being a Kingdom Hearts fan

Oh wow I didn't even realize that the Data Riku section was super inception-y. Great analysis
Screw the story. Re:coded combat is the only thing I care about. The best in the entire series out of the command deck games

I never noticed how important Coded was before you pointed all these details out o.o
Data Sora and Repliku will always be famousss
I still have my old DS and my copy of recoded 😊
Me too!!!
@@cybersiku6846 nice the farther I got as a kid was hollow bastion. I only played my DS on road trips
Been doing a replay of the series and I was gonna skip Days and Re:Coded, but you sold me. I'll give it a shot.
If Re:Coded has no fans, I'm dead 🗣🗣
Nah me too

5:55 "Hold my SeaSalt IceCrema 🍦"
🤣👍🏼
It’s on DS not Gameboy
completed recoded on my 3DS
Re:Coded has some of the best gameplay in the series
I wonder if Data-Sora will be one of the big keys to either resurrecting or bringing Sora back from the other side.
I mean the kai-blade did use 2 kingdom keys to form
This video really makes me want to buy Re:Coded! 😍
This made me like Coded lol beautiful video
Still convinced that Sora is gonna meet Schala and Lightning in Quadratum.
Gameboy? It's DS. Can be played on the 3DS line.
I keep hearing "pay to physical".
I liked the game when I played it
Don't let Chris-Chan get into this series and "pataphysics".
