There's no real evidence that he stepped in to help any more than just giving the Shadow Court what they wanted. He said himself he had no idea what he was doing at the time; he didn't want that. As the TV Tropes say, he did what most people would do: he blamed himself and thought he was a complete monster. Then, unlike other people, he decided to become one full time, because that was the only way he could live with it; he had to become someone who was unmoved by such things.
Fun fact: if you’re a female hero, Reaver calls her a “cow” in his fourth diary entry. I can only imagine Sparrow’s face when she gets to that part lol
He's one of those villains who appear absolutely despicable at first, but if you learn more about their story, you suddenly can understand them, or maybe even *love* them. And everybody's like: "How could you, he has shot innocent people!" - Me just answering: "Because he's Reaver. One cannot simply hate him!" :D
It's just unbelievable how this monster, a man he can hardly be called, who should only evoke hatred... makes me feel sad and pity. The thought that behind the monster's guise, he is still the weak human being that Reaver is desperately trying to kill within himself, to wall off the pain of the loss he experienced that night... And how long has it been...
Marceline Abadeer - The eye color of the player character changes with his decision for good or evil deeds. 40 years of building his own empire on the back of the weak ones leaves its trails on Reavers hair, eyes or general appearance. I think that the changes are plausible. And they suit him sooo well! ;)
Today I was playing Fable 2 And Reaver mentioned a woman named Ursula and I then downloaded See the Future and there was a diary in the cursed Snowglobe ( Oakvale ) and there was a book called Ursulas diary it was in a school. Just sayin.
Reaver's is one of the most handsome guys in the Fable series, well, besides your character of course. I haven't seen a single bisexual pirate in any games~
@Pagemaster22193 He destroyed Oakvale, not only for the sacrifice required for the Shadow Court, but for that very purpose. He made sure no one nor nothing survived to put the blame on him. But as he said, his nightmares never make him forget either. Such is the price for such a curse I suppose, reliving that moment in time, for 200+ years. A pity really.
A character in Fable II and III, Reaver is a monstrously evil bisexual pirate and business magnate, who is the mayor of Bloodstone and owner of Reaver Industries. He sacrifices the youth of others to give himself eternal life, and would betray absolutely anyone if it gave him an advantage.
@kylekicksass100 Reaver sacrificied Oakvale to the Shadow Court for youth. Oblivious to what he was doing he felt regret for sacrificing 'her'. But as he says: 'what a weak despicable man he is. But I am not he, I am Reaver.'
Ah...Reaver...I used to hate you...now I don't...now I love you!!! You can rest assured that the moment I met the Reaver fanatic I became her best friend!!! My Soul Sistah!!!
@bwabadoe He dose but he also says he has never been there. Quote "ohh I've never been to Samarkand. Hot nights, exsotic substances and uninhibited people"
5.10 - 5.20: "so delicate, so breakable, and so afraid of death..." A queer question here, but is Reaver not still afraid of dying? He may not care for the lives of others, but hasn't he always feared dying himself by continuing to provide the shadows with sacrifices? I adore Reaver's character, but I do find him hypocritical at times. Ah well, everyone dies eventually - and Reaver's time will come.
After living for several of centuries. I imagine death would not be as scary to him due to he might have done everything he wanted, therefore he has nothing to lose.
@Evyldyn Also, but he stated in Fable II that he had been there before and discribed the people as "uninhibited" the same way as here, therefore I think the place discribed here is Samarkand instead of Aurora.
@weer390 Yeah me to, I imagined it to be much more of a tropical jungle land or summin' like that. It'll hopefully be in Fable 4, I recon it won't be in any DLC since the large amount of open space in Aurora hints at future expansion in that land.
When he said Kraken I got really excited because they only mention it in fable 1 and I feel educated because I have played fable 1. I probably only get excited though because I played Fable: The lost chapters after I'd been through fable 2 and 3 several times.
Do you mean did we see him in Fable 1? Cause no we didn't. He is only first mention in Fable 2 when Theresa tells you the story of how Wraithmarsh was created and Reaver was the cause of it. I think Reaver wasn't born yet when The Hero of Fable 1 was around. So we didn't know who Reaver was before he destroyed Oakvale.
@OtherEvil Actually, I think he kept those animals for the sole purpose of weirding people out. It's Reaver, such an idea would not be out of character. I think he probably drew the line at the monkey.
He is possibly the best game written characters ever. Yes, he's a cruel and selfish man but that's what makes him so fascinating. He's not necessarily a villian, he's neutral to the sense where he is only agrees with whatever is before him if it benefits him. Love his character, there's no one quite like Reaver.
@serenade128 Redeem him from the Shadow Court? Would be great :D I mean he can't be sacrificing souls forever.... can he... ? And remember what they said: "When the sacrifices stop, we will come for him. This he knows" Oh nose!! :O
@mattron574 Captain Dread presumably. Twinblade should be dead before Reaver is even born, being that Reaver is little over 200 years old during Fable II.
Reaver isn't the mayor of bloodstone because bloodstone was twinblades camp in fable 1 and lost chapters he was the one Teresa said sacrificed oakvale to the shaddows for eternal youth
@ThePhenderson730 You watched this video so your thoughts started to sound/talk like Reaver, which in turn came out onto your TH-cam comment, happens to all of us lol
@top1terra1girl If I remember correctly he says he has been there and then remarks on how "uninhibited" the people are, although I could've misheard it.
"I might have stayed there forever, if it hadn't been for the monkey insident......" XD someone should make a spoof of that LMAO! Reaver: Haha I got your guys' fruit!!! CrewMember: Reaver! There's a bunch of monkeys headed this way! Reaver: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! .... Reaver: No fair they have Poo! All we have pistols! ...... Reaver: The man you love to hate, and the man you hate to love. =3
XD too true, my friend. too true.
I admit I like his voice but hate that hair style
Steven Frys voice acting for Fable 3 was possibly one of the best parts of the game.
You gotta build that brothel! Since love is what everyone needs!
There's no real evidence that he stepped in to help any more than just giving the Shadow Court what they wanted. He said himself he had no idea what he was doing at the time; he didn't want that. Then, unlike other people, he decided to become one full time, because that was the only way he could live with it; he had to become someone who was unmoved by such things.
He’s hardly a monster, just a freed man

I NOTICED THAT AND I WAS LIKE WTH I THOUGHT WE HAD SOMETHING REAVER!!
@@nicolelynn9404the betrayal I would feel
reaver is the most epic character to ever character (character is a verb now)
Fry's voice is perfect for the role.
Inwë Meneldur couldn't agree more
"Good isn't necessarily pretty, and evil isn't always ugly. What matters is the choice you make with your heart."
I want a comic of Reaver destroying Oakvale
I agree, this story needs to be told!
@@Serillian you made it?
I want an explanation of the monkey incident
Reaver is so awesome! He was the first Fable character I fell in love with. How can you not love that pirate pimp! x3
Aye! I'm still devastated by the fact that I can't marry him. D:
I don't think Reaver would be such an ass if he hadn't had such a traumatizing experience in Oakvale. Love him ;)
He's one of those villains who appear absolutely despicable at first, but if you learn more about their story, you suddenly can understand them, or maybe even *love* them.

Stephen Fry has a voice of gold
Indeed! I switched from the German synchro to the original voices just because of him. :)
Reaver is my man
Who would agree that Stephan Fry has a voice for narrating?!
Okasi I can very easily get lost in an episode of Pocoyo for this reason.
I think anyone that listened to the OG harry potter audiobook would know this
I just love Reaver
Reaver and Astarion from Baldur's Gate 3 are cut from the same cloth!
It's just unbelievable how this monster, a man he can hardly be called, who should only evoke hatred... makes me feel sad and pity. And how long has it been...
In Fable 3, I was completely thrown off by the drastic change in Reaver's appearance
it was 40 years after the events of fable 2's end.
Gamer From Beyond yeah but I mean 40 years time doesnt really change eye color 😂
Wicker _ as long as he sacrifices someone to the Court of Shadows
Marceline Abadeer - The eye color of the player character changes with his decision for good or evil deeds. 40 years of building his own empire on the back of the weak ones leaves its trails on Reavers hair, eyes or general appearance. Stephen Fry just breathes life into Reaver. It's incredible.

Such a tragic live, I believe that deep inside he has a good heart.

Massive eargasms. That voice fills me with a wonderful ease, like the soft roaring of fireplace in the early hours of the morning. Love it.

(Side note: I could literally listen to Stephen Fry talk for hours)
what an excellent character
I am being to think that reaver is the first hero from Lost Chapters.
Niltiac Zerep the lost chapters was 600 years ago from the events fable 2
*Oops it’s 500
***** lionhead shut down
reaver makes deals with the shadow court he is as old as the old kingdom
thats not true, he make the deal some few centuries before fable 2 and thats why oakvale was destroyed.
500 years before fable 2 is fable 1 or lost chapters
that's when reaver made the deal
Awesome him I love his voice and his character x
Reaver is speaking of himself. Reaver was the one who brought Oakvale's end.
Obviously?
I’d hope that if you’re watching this you’d not need help to realize that.
It's so weird that Reaver fable 2 has no makeup and hat and slightly more normal outfit then bam fable 3 Reaver
@Smaialy The man who voiced Reaver also narrated the Harry Potter video games, year 1-4 I believe. I just realized it when I listened to this.
Found that out in 08,a good friend got me hooked to fable. I still want to play 3
Reaver is my favourite character in the whole Fable series
@masterpengun It's 500 years from Fable I to Fable II, and 50 from II to III, I believe.
@FierceGriffon That would be awesome. I'm looking forward to Fable 4 even more now!

I can practically see him writing by firelight.

I bet Reaver is a fun character to voice.
Because, with Reaver, there really are no limitations.

Does anyone talk like a gentleman for hours after listening to this?
So I'm guessing he changed his name to Reaver to try and destroy his past.
Destroy, leave behind, forget... Must be *maddening* to live with the guilt for hundreds and hundreds of years!
That and if you think about the name-- Reaver of Oakvale. It's almost a title.
Thank You!! This with the mansion music in the background just makes this complete :D
