Your still photographs were terrific, they illuminated the Rover very artistically.
Thank you
Clean the caliper / piston properly.
Remove the pads and push piston OUT of the caliper to expose much more of the sides. Clean these up properly with 3-in-1 oil, brake cleaner, brake fluid. Crack open the bleed nipple and push piston back, expel old overheated brake fluid from caliper and let some drain from the hose (which can also fail internally and cause sticky brakes). Let bubbles bleed naturally, close bleed nipple and reassemble.
Thank you for the excellent advice
Glad it was an easy fix. The people parked up, you should have gone over to see if they were licking the windows.
Yeah, but it's like trying to teach a giraffe how to use a vacuum cleaner.
Nice easy fix Paul! I had a front caliper sticking on my Rover 45 and it howled like a banshee.hah.Good to see northern lights.I u.stand your frustration with some of the plebs out there...
Excellent video Paul and lovely Northern lights 🚗🚙🚘👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏🍻
Thank you, Jimmy ☺️☺️☺️
Earlier in the year I saw the Aurora for the first time in Estonia. We went to a spot to watch that was as popular as Blackstone Edge appeared in this video but most people had the brains to turn their car lights off. Until someone turned up in one of those giant Audi electrical SUV things with lights brighter than a thousand suns. They all jumped out, the interior lights almost as bright as the headlamps, and set off to have a nice look at the sky, but despite them not being in the car the lights stayed on, turning a midnight cliff in Estonia into something like midday at the equator. Then someone went stamping over to this family shouting and waving his arms, very unEstonian behaviour. I asked Mrs Miller what he was saying and she told me he’s very unhappy about these lights and is very forcefully telling the driver to either turn his lights off immediately or he is suggesting he leave. There was more back and forth that I thought necessary before the bringer of daylight de decided to leave. Apparently he can’t turn his lights off, he has to wait until the car doesn’t for him, and I’ve never heard anything like it. In Estonia you have to have lights on all the time so most cars have a setting where you just leave them on and the car shuts them down but when I started writing this comment I found it hard to believe you can’t override this. But since the beginning of this comment I have remembered that everything you buy now is worse than the same item was 10 years ago, cheaper, flimsier, thinner, less features so it’s quite possible that Audi have decided not to bother with headlamp switches in markets where you need your headlights on all the time. The Aurora round my way was spectacular, I didn’t have to leave the house to see it. Often it’s not visible to the eye, only on photos and this was the case for much of the night but around 12.30 it was so strong that it could be seen by eye. Incredible. I find the whole thing quite magical and I like standing underneath it looking at the beauty and vastness of the skies, feeling somehow very small but also connected to whatever the universe is. And then some div turns up and spoils it with noise and light. I’m off to spray WD40 over everything I have that is supposed to move. Preventative maintenance, because I’m smart.
I had a chirping noise once and thought "as long as it makes noises it's ok" Yeah... The roller tensioner pulley just exploded in the middle of Brussels rush hour traffic jams while towing a caravan...lost lights, battery, everything lol😅
Hope the brake fix stays fixed! Spectacular views of the Northern lights - and spectacular guitar playing too!😊
You caught a lucky break with that... Brake, Mustard 😁. Saw the Northern lights last night as well. Looked quite lovely. They were a bit more spectacular out here in the Desert what with no Buildings, people, ect👍.
Yes people are that THICK!
Great photos Paul 👍🏼
Once you had escaped the thicko contingent the northern lights sky looked fantastic!
Must say I agree with the late Professor Stephen Hawkin's thoughts on the evolution of intelligence having been in reverse for some time. The evidence is increasingly apparent!
Personally, I'm paranoid about sticking calipers, I'm forever letting my car freewheel to a standstill to make sure it doesn't stop abruptly. Also I never leave the handbrake applied at home lest the rear calipers end up sticking, instead I chock the wheels, which is admittedly is a pain in the a*se at time but it does appear to work!
Another appearance from the spirit of Mustard past with a very nice guitar piece.
Thank you very much 😊
The northern lights, cool.
Glad you sorted the breaks .
Ive been watching that series on the bbc about the planets found it fascinating.
Brian Cox?
@@ProjectNigel that's the badger .
You might be lucky with WD round the piston but in my experience that's only a temp fix & will be sticking again in a few weeks.
I got seal kits for a front & a back caliper on my 45, about 6 quid each & rebuilt them. Right as rain after a year👍
I am prepared to do it again more properly soon 😆
I hope you paid Steve Howe royalties for the use of the video clip at the end 😉
😆
Nice guitar outro. Do you happen to do guitar cover videos?
Absolutely stunning photos you caught there, Paul. Thank you for sharing them with us 🙂
Thank you ☺️
Jason had new disc and pads and both rear callipers greased as they wound back perfect.
Used to do nearly 1000 miles a month to work and back and never had an issue. Cars are fun aren’t they !!! ☹️
I even bought rear callipers for the car! But garage told me to send them back as they were fine so DMGRS refunded me.
Seems like the 45s are just back luck for us both Paul! 😮
Alfie is playing up as well…I’m £600 into fixing him. SRS light is on, Electric issue with rev counter. And the engine isn’t running properly. And rocker cover gasket is decided to start leaking as well as power steering. 🤦🏽♂️
Northern lights were incredible weren’t they 😍
But glad you are looking after Jason! He was superb car. 🚘
P.S don’t forget to send me Alfie’s spare keys please 🔑
Thank you 🙏
Yes, I remember. Nothing lasts forever, though. Anyway, a day later, and it's behaving.
Sorry you're getting problems with Alfie, maybe that motor really wanted to stay with me.
On its way.
Funny thing is, my vehicle failed the annual vehicle test (equivalent mot) on insufficient contact between disc and pad. On inspection I failed at the first hurdle to gain access to the brakes due to a stubborn wheel bolt 🔩😢. Are you sure you didn't stumble into the local dogging site 😅??
Great footage mate 👍did you get my fb messages about the 45?
I don't think so
@@ProjectNigel I was asking about coming up to pay you a visit about a week ago. Assumed you must’ve been busy 🙂
It seems to be a British problem sticking brake callipers because in Australia l have wined many vehicles and never had a sticking brake calliper never also sagging head liners and another thing l have never experienced and my brother owns a couple of classic British cars from the 1960s and we'll one of them hasn't experienced a sagging head lining and tge other one is a convertible but that doesn't count as far as head linings are concerned and l don't think he has ever had a sticking brake calliper and in my 50 years of driving l have owned vehicles from the 1960s 1970s 1980s 1990s 2000s 2010s and 2020s and most of are gone but l still have a 1997 Toyota Hilux and a 2017 Suzuki Baleno l do like Suzuki's and Toyota's and the absolute best decade for vehicles is the 1990s
ah ye😎😎
