True, but the problem is that Konohamaru just keeps losing in Boruto; if they wanted to establish just how strong Koji is this way, then they needed Konohamaru to have on-screen victories against tough opponents; that way, it would be clear that it's not that Konohamaru's weak, but that Koji is simply far stronger (all for the glory of the Spade Kingdom).

He's proficient in fire jutsu techniques that are unique to the Sarutobi Clan, he has a lightning jutsu that coats himself in electricity so anyone who tries to touch him gets shocked, he has both Asuma's wind style techniques as well as his own wind-style rasengan, he can do both multi-shadow clone jutsu as well as his grandpa's shuriken shadow clone jutsu, he's proficient with both Asuma's knives and with staff-fighting, and he has both toad summoning and monkey summoning. He should already be stroong enough to bring down a lot of tough opponents, but he's either put up against fodder or he's forced to lose.

Ummm what? There's no inconsistency here. This guy was taught the rasengan by the creator (not counting Ashura) and has taught the rasengan to one other person who taught it to Konohamaru. So it's still just Naruto, his son, Konohamaru, and the White haired GOAT

Not really, Rasengan is a pretty hard to learn ninjutsu because it requires a high amount of chakra control, aside from fillers, Minato was the creator of the Rasengan, who then taught it to Jiraya (who as his master was interested in learning the jutsu) and Kakashi who was his apprentice, however the three of them tried to create better ways to perform the Rasengan, trying to enhance it with natural element, but they all failed, Kakashi failure created the Chidori, after some years Jiraya taught Rasengan to Naruto, who taught to Konohamaru, and Boruto learned it as an asspull jutsu being able to put his natural element on it from the very begining. But still, only Minato line of students/masters used Rasengan, no one else.
Kashin can use it because he is a clone of Jiraya.

People saying that “Konohamaru is trash” neglect the fact that his opponent is “Jiraiya” but a lot stronger.
But yeah, Kishimoto should definitely give Konohamaru a good role now.
We know he isn't weak but actually strong.
But constantly throwing him against very strong opponents is not a good plot. There must be a balance like how Kakashi was able to fight and hold against many Akatsuki members (5 hearts guy, Pain and Obito)

Kashin was like, created and trained to fight a karma-powered threat, and he did that. And lived through his fight vs an otsutski that is stronger than Momoshiki or Kaguya. He is way above Jiraiya’s level. Konohamaru was able to do some work vs a transformed Jugo, and brute force his way out of a sealing jutsu (that was being used by fodder, but still) and immediately let out a rasengan that leveled a section of a forest. He isn’t weak, it’s just that all of the big threats in Boruto are power scaled up to being above regular kage level (like, Kages that aren’t Hashirama and Naruto).
The thing is konohamaru is not a genius like kakashi. Sooner or later he ll become iruka level.
Konohamaru uses a variety of chakra nature releases and is at least proficient with a larger variety of jutsu than we see most shinobi use, and he’s done that without using a sharingan to copy other people’s use of jutsu. He also was using S-rank jutsu as a genin. He may not be described as a genius, but he definitely shows himself to be versatile in the same way that people described as genius are.

For those who are saying Konohamaru is weak,
1. He is fighting a Super Enhanced clone of Jiraiya, whom the original was already able to take down multiple Pains
2. He survived the True flames of Samahada, something which completely incinerated Karma Jigen, who defeated both Naruto and Sasuke easily
rewatch the episodes again! The flames he used against jigen was not the true flames of samadhi since jigen can absorb ninjutsu, but summoned since karma cannot absorb naturally occuring flames.
He couldnt even beat victor or ao , as a jonin compared to kakashi or guy he is super weak.

My issue with this is that, yes, I understand that he is outclassed, but they didn't even try to make him tactful and clever. He just rushes straight at opponents without thinking. Its stupid that they did that to him considering that he outwitted pain as a genin.
He didn't outwit a Pain. The Pain simply underestimated him and never expected a kid to have a destructive jutsu like rasengan. Here, Kashin Koji was simply more tactful and didn't give Konahamaru any opening.
People need to learn that their favorite characters can't always win, especially if they aren't the protagonist.

Just like Kakashi back in the Land of Waves arc. At least Konohamaru has some wins against a named opponent. And dude had like three fights back to back. The only person that could beat Koji at that point were either Naruto, Sasuke, Jigen, or Code.
Indeed. Remember how, in Naruto, it actually mattered when Kakashi was in trouble because it had been established that he was a skilled and resourceful fighter and we previously saw him beat tough opponents? The most that Konohamaru has beaten on this show is a dying White Zetsu and a bandit.
They needed to similarly establish Konohamaru if they wanted this fight to be meaningful, as then it would've been clear that it's not that Konohamaru's weak, but that Koji is simply far stronger (all for the glory of the Spade Kingdom).

Well he is basically fighting Jaraiya sensei, who was clearly stronger than several Pain (not all of them but several). Naturally he doesn't stand a chance with this guy who's a clone of one the legendary ninjas of their age.
Pain himself stated that Jiraiya would have beat him if only he knew about Pain's abilities during their battle.

I like how Konohamaru seems to be a lot like young Hiruzen, both in techniques, but also in character in some ways! We never saw much of what the third could do so it'd be interesting to see some of it

I think we should give Konohamaru a break this time. Hes had to fight durable robots with strong immunity to ninjutsu while taking care of Mugino, got a surprise attack by Ao and drained a lot of his chakra to give his team a chance against him, got blasted saving Boruto and then had to fight a untired Kage level opponent and he still had enough strength to deflect Garo's blast and save him Boruto again.
I think he did okay this time around but we differently need see more W from him in the future

Sure, but that would've been more apparent if they had given Konohamaru some victories against skilled opponents earlier on in the series; that way, it would've been all the more clear that it's not that Konohamaru's weak, but that Koji is simply far stronger (all for the glory of the Spade Kingdom).

Jiraiya would probably be initially at a disadvantage at first due to Koji being engineered to be stronger. However, Jiraiya is far wiser and more experienced, and he knows how these techniques work better than Koji does, so he would likely figure out a way to beat Koji through cunning.

Sakura:Defeated a pain summon, Pumped naruto’s heart herself, held her own against a mangekyo user(and probably would’ve won if she knew about his ability of controlling weapons), Punched Kaguya, worked with granny chiyo to take down sasori the puppet master, helped save people during the chuunin exams(Boruto era), freed naruto from a genjutsu(inherently stopping Gaara because if naruto never was released Gaara wouldn’t have been stopped), Has top tier chakra control, healed people during the pain arc, saved Karin, stopped a pseudo jinchuriki with naruto and sasuke dna and a kyuubi cloak(in her novel: Sakura hiden), and more.
People also always forget that she was the only reason Obito was able to bring back Sasuke from Kaguya's dimension. Without her, Kaguya would have won, not to mention Naruto & Sasuke would have bled to death without her healing them after their final fight.

1. kojo kashin was able to be an actual threat to jigen to the point of him forcing himself to turn into isshiki, and STILL posed a challenge
2. konohamaru one shotted jugo with a single rasengan, even while his chakra was being absorbed
3. he's seriously not weak its just that the villains are way stronger than he is

Each were relative to fused momo who in base scared kaguya so I'll say Base momo ~ Kaguya.
And KCM Naruto is close to fused momo so I'll put them as relative and say Base momo ~ ¼Naruto (assuming KCM is a 2x and he also lost half his chakra),
So Jigen is like 8 kaguyas lowballed to nor include how much stronger jigen would be OR the multipliers for KCM.
Ok now let's assume Naruto and sasuke from Shippuden are relative to in Boruto.
8 kaguyas Is 16 KCM Naruto's which is atleast 32 pre-tree Madaras (when he fought guy)
Assuming the ten tails power is a 9x boost (all the bijuu), this is about 288x Base Madaras one of which could destroy all 9 bijuu at once with the gedo statue
These are mostly extreme lowballs and give the illusion that Kashin koji and Kaguya are close In power which they aren't but even still Kashin Koji was vastly superior to much of the shippuden cast
(BTW for madara I wasn't talking about Jubidara, just the one who got cooked by sage mode naruto with a lava rasenshuriken

Rasengan is difficult to master. You have to rotate your chakra and manipulate the shape of the jutsu into a destructive sphere. Adding a nature transformation into a Rasengan is S Tier, only Naruto and Boruto has been able to make variations so far.
Jiraiya can make a Massive Rasengan while using Sage Mode as well.
