Umm what....? Triathletes need more than 3800 calories. They can burn up to 6000-7000 calories in an event. And any gymnast eating 1800 calories is underfed and will burn out before the competition even starts.

No athlete especially a gymnast Olympian should be eating only 1800 calories! She’s being underfed and it will lead to burn out and bad performance.
I’ve been a sport nutritionist for years. That’s terrible.

Thank you!!! I was a competitive gymnast for 12 years and we were constantly getting hurt and had really low energy. Also saying that gymnast need less carbs just doesn't sound either! We need carbs!!!

There is something related to weight? Why does she said they should eat only 1800?

@@invisible8334 that was the old way of thinking. They expected the female gymnasts to look slender, no curves, no bulky muscles. A lot of girls were starving themselves and would get injured. Thankfully now thats changing.

Me too. I am a carpentry student, who has been on placement in a company for a couple of weeks, and notices that my appetite is increasing quite a bit. I'm also an athlete from before, so I didn't think that the carpenter job would have anything to do with it... but yes, it does🍔🌭🥪🥙🍕🍟🍗

People are overreacting to this video and taking it wayyy to personally. I'd take these to be averages on a training day. As a nutritionist she probably averged out what she would normally recommend. Gymnasts "tend to be smaller and lighter"... which is true; they just are and will need less. That recommendation was not bad. Any serious athlete is going to have a program tailored to them, this is helpful for folks to train similarly and need a place to start on their own.

great information and very good comparison. Wish I had more time to look at adds and other videos, but I have a paper to write as a person returning to school that is also an athlete who has tested various diets on my own body for peak performance. Both short spurts of energy for cross training and long-distance century rider that trained like a tri-athlete who also enjoys challenging hikes and swimming long distances deconditioned due to a serious accident that has caused a lot of physical damage later in years being both competitive and a "monkey" all my life.
