Thanks for the comparison! One hint of advise though would to be kill the room mic that is picking up the guitar pick and strings, it throws of the audio when trying to actually compare the sound.
I been using torpedo load box with wos with my amps pedals . But now getting into this kind of software more. I like them both guitar riff and amplitube . Nice job reviewing them .
I've been using Amplitube 3 since about 2010.....I skipped the upgrade to 4...figured it would just be a little prettier UI but the same sounds....Didn't jump on 5 when it was released...but picked up Amplitube 5 Max during a sale recently....wasn't expecting to be blown away...but....I've got to say, I've been really impressed....there's definitely been improvements in the sound dept..... I can't speak for Guitar Rig 6...although I do have Guitar Rig 4.....and between Amplitube 3 and Guitar Rig 4....I nearly always went with Amplitube....now with Amp 5....there's no real contest...and I don't really plan on getting Guitar Rig 6 I should add....that there are some really good bass amps/cabs in Amp 5 as well....
Thanks for this. Whilst your style is not what I use but still good to see. I have TH-U, Guitar Rig 6 and just this week purchased Amplitube 5. Each has a little difference in my opinion. I most use this stuff live. What I di is all clean. I use an FCB1010 foot controller to switch between various stomps, volume control and to control Wah. I have pretty much always used TH-U I found it easiest to set up but it sounds a little dark to me. Guitar Rig also fairly easy to set up but sounds a bit harsh to me. Amplitube 5 sounds much better in my opinion but the midi control whilst it has more flexibility it is not quite there (using the FCB1010) in my opinion. The reason I say this is if i press a switch then move to another switch go back to the original switch I need to press twice. Could be I have not got it right yet. The noise gate missing is also annoying IMHO. That’s my two bobs worth. Thanks for your demo.
Gonna say amplitube sounds more like an actual amp to me, just in the way it squishes when hit hard. Also holy shit the soldano in amplitube sounds amazing.
Guitar Rig has evolved to cater to a slightly different market than mainly guitar players. Amplitube is geared more towards players who are "traditional guitarists" in the sense that they wanna produce guitar tones with guitar gear that is specifically suited for guitar driven genres. Guitar Rig's features, just by looking at the suite of parameter modifiers and Traktor effects that are nowhere to be found in competing solutions except for maybe Fractal hardware, suggest that GR is geared towards players/composers/producers who are in the pop genre needing a solution for a highly flexible means of creative tone shaping. The consensus from all kinds of comparisons I've seen and by my own experience do tend to agree that the IKM, Positive Grid, and Overloud solutions tend to produce more authentic tones compared to GR. But w/in the context of any mix, that level of authenticity is a non-factor when GR satisfactorily produces the tones it purports to model. And at least as of now, none of the other solutions have an LFO, sequencer, and envelop control modifier that GR has that allows it to alter sounds over time the way synths do, and the PG solution doesn't let you assign min/max parameter ranges to controller assignments while the OL solution doesn't let you assign multiple parameters to the same controller.
well, you are right, didn't think about it this way, indeed i like Guitar Pro WAY MORE than amplitube because i can use it for my pop productions and in songs where the guitar is just filler kind of. But they still do have great sounds for rock too.
I also have both (Amplitube 5 Max and Guitar Rig 6 Pro) also. I seem to use Amplitube 5 Max way more than Guitar Rig 6 Pro. I do use a lot of the effects from Guitar Rig 6 Pro on other tracks….. great comparison video!
Hahaha on impulse buying... That is me as well. Don't wanna see don't wanna know what I'm missing, and all is right with the world! ;-) Great review... IMO Amplitube 5 kicks Guitar Rig 6 out of the water... The new impulse response technology used in Amplitube 5, the new GUI, and the wide variety of real gear simulations makes Amplitube 5 the deal breaker. I haven't tried Guitar Rig 6 myself, but damn the tones and responsiveness I get from Amplitube 5, and the sounds I hear from your review, makes me happy that I invested in Amplitube not Guitar Rig.
The ability to expand on your library as you need is the real selling point for me. That and the fact they are still bringing out new models and some officially licensed ones. I'm glad your enjoying Amplitube and that you enjoyed the demo man. Thanks for watching and commenting!
not a fair comparison, really bad video, you need to change the position of the mic in guitar rig and change the mics to have a better sound, that's just a couple of clicks, also i think amplitube has an reverb or something like that
So I'm actually not 😂. These videos were all made as a part of a project for my music degree. My main focus was actually on teaching, songwriting and performance. This was just one of the modules on the course. The fact that this video has gotten as many views as it has is completely mind-blowing to me
What a load of hype bollicks, all these settings to make practically no difference in sound, moving virtual mics around virtual cabs, load of balls! lol Pick a preset and away ya go!!!
I have the same problem turning dials and adding delay seems not to alter the tone in GR 6, unless i use a different preset. I have ordered a more expensive guitar interface will try that today.
Thanks for the comparison! One hint of advise though would to be kill the room mic that is picking up the guitar pick and strings, it throws of the audio when trying to actually compare the sound.
Hey man thanks for watching. This is some great feedback and I'll definitely tak it on board for future videos.
Thanks man. Good review. I like your style and attitude!

Amplitube sounds heavier but a bit less defined than guitar rig. Personally prefer the guitar rig model because it sounds more defined and less muddy.

The Soldano in amplitube is my go to and was what actually made me pick it up in the first place.

Is my 8GB machine enough for these plugins. I’m getting some noise with Amplitube. Or could there be some other cause. Thanks!

All tha cool people doing guitar videos on TH-cam. It would be cool if Iggy Pop did a review of GR 6?

Amplitude is more real amplifier sound
Bro, you are an audio engineer. I can barely hear you talking. use a mic or amplify the quiet parts. 🤣
