    As a whole house electricity back-up if the power goes out. Don't want the frozen stuff in the freezer to thaw out. And it'll run a gas fired furnace we have in Canada in the winter so we don't freeze to death. Just need a hook up to the breaker box (electrician work) I wouldn't attempt it myself. Great video and for the size I think the db is reasonable.

    Nice review, it would be a good generator for small, one machine use like the grinder, welder, lights etc. Could it power an arc welder - farmers always use them a lot on farms..?? And, is it powered by a Honda clone engine..??
    Would also love to see a series of clips on 'Clarke' branded machines. This UK brand has been around for decades and serves the home DIY, hobbyist.

    Martin, I was looking at the sticker for the choke, I realized it was backwards. I recently replaced the carburetor on my generator, and that was fresh in my mind. My workshop is on a farm with no electric power, so I use solar or a generator.
    I'm looking to get a belt driven generator that cannot power most of my tools from a diesel engine.
    I have an engine, and will look at a generator a guy has on Monday.

    I think needs at least 5000W constant to operate the welding unit in order to weld anything thicker than 1,5mm. Prices of generators go incredibly fast sky high when some power is needed! But for cars with 0,6mm sheetmetal, no big deal for sure.

  • @Farm_fab
    @Farm_fab ปีที่แล้ว

    I had been using a 2900 watt generator for my welder, so I'm moving up to a 3500 watt which should do better on the welder. When I go to use my plasma cutter, I'll use my 5500 watt as the air compressor draws 18 amps at startup. All of my generators came from a local scrap yard, and so far I've gotten all but two running. One was a bit out of my ability to repair, so I took it to a professional.

    The back to front choke seems to be common thing on Chinese engines. I have a Clark generator and a wolf pressure washer and they both have the choke backwards, I also have a strimmer and a hedge trimmer both two stroke and again the chokes are backwards, I think it must be something to do with translation, maybe run in chinese translates to on if you use google or something along those lines and it has been going on for some time because there is at least 15 years between some of the equipment.

I've got a cracking deisel 6.5KVa generator and it took 3 oil changes before I stopped getting swarf out of the engine 😮 Dotn get me wrong the chinese stuff for the money is great but its well worth doing multiple oil changes and run about making sure all the bolts are nice and tight 🙂

    Hi Martin. I was wondering... Is your welder supposed to take a normal 13a plug or is it supposed to use one capable of 16a? Only reason I ask is because I bought a 160a draper welder a couple of months ago and I'm supposed to use a plug capable of 16a but I was wondering if i could just wire a normal 13a one and use it at a lower power until I can get a 16a capable socket fitted?

    • @thegreengrass6501

    • @robertpotter2515
      @robertpotter2515 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thegreengrass6501 ahh ok. Mine needs to be fitted with one of them blue cylindrical 3 pin plugs that goes into a socket capable of 16a so I'd need to have one fitted to be able to use it. I do however have a converter I bought so I can use it on a normal 13a domestic supply I'm just sceptical on using it incase it causes a fire or what not so haven't tried it yet. But I was wondering if I use it at a much lower power than it's rated for just for light work for now would it be ok. I've had a few say they use theirs in a normal 13a supply on lower powers but I want to hear it from someone I trust which is why I asked Martin. Hahah 🤣 unfortunately as you have said yours/ Martin's one already comes with a 13a plug attached. Hahaha I guess I'll just wait until I can afford to get the correct supply fitted I'd rather not burn my house down. 😅

    i’d look into solar generators no gas/oil to fool with. with gas you need to be able to drain the tank and run the carb dry for storage. and needs to be able run on camping fuel to. because during winter storms getting out to gas/or petrol station may have had a run on fuel trucks can’t re supply during icy conditions. these gas units need to be able to run on all grades of gas to even natural gas.

    These are terrible generators... Once you get around the 100 hour mark, of running time.. The insulated copper windings start to burn up, pretty easily..
    Even when you never pushed it close to its max rated wattage...
    i had one, rated for "3000 continuous watts"... Used to take it to Motocross track days, To just power our 1.8kw kettle.... Really didnt last very long...
    Luckily it was under warranty, and i got my money back...

      @RGD-Repairs ปีที่แล้ว

      @@retrorestore If it was defective.. It would have failed immediately, or after a short time.... Mine was fine to begin with.. But after a fair amount of use, it failed...
      Where as i have other generators that have thousands of hours on their hour meter, Still running flawlessly...
      The insulated copper windings inside the power head, Usually burn up by excessive power draw... Mine did it without excessive power draw... So i'd call it "poor design or build".... Not defective from factory...

But if you look at the publicly available information for MaxSpeedRods.. their Quarterly sales reports while remaining under the CEO of Henry Chen, Based out in Surrey........... Reports show, They dont sell too well.... Not many people are going to complain of faults... if hardly anyone has bought it...
      And ofc, This is a paid promotion video, So i fully expect you to back up the brand...
      But for an end-user such as myself, That has owned one for a period of time, and used it a considerable amount, to the point where a legitimate review can be given on it.... Unfortunately... Not something i'd rate... With a understanding on petrol generators, how they function, and how to repair them... The copper windings are not meant to burn out and short to the commutator within less than 100 hours of use 😊
      The company were clearly (possibly) aware of this?!?!?! Hence why they didnt hesitate to refund me...

I am a full time TH-camr and this is a part of my job reviewing stuff that people want to give to me. If I do a paid promotion, It will say so in the video. You mentioned your personal experience with this model, why not make your own video (as I see by your channel) that you do make videos, I personally don't have the time for in depth communications with people with the amount of comments I have to deal with.
      Your last comment has assumptions about me being biased about a product which is not true. As you probably saw in the video, I highlighted an issue with the choke label being the wrong way round.
      You also assume in this following phrase
      "The company were clearly (possibly) aware of this?!?!?!" Clearly and Possibly are quite contradicting and I won't make assumptions on your experiences when you use such uncertain quotes.
      With all due respect, My comment section is not for people to vent their frustrations out. You have your own channel for that.
