      ⚠️Here’s an important safety announcement:
      Please make sure you follow the generator safety tips whenever you use your portable generator. This is just a reminder for everyone’s safety. All generator safety rules need to be followed carefully
      Here are the generator safety tips:
      1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against the generator safety rules. We also need to be keeping an eye on our children too. You need to make sure that your children are not playing near the portable generator especially when it’s running so they won’t get electrocuted. Generators pose electrical risks and they can be hot during an operation. Please keep your children away from the portable generator at all times. It is important to keep our children safe especially our little ones. Children often get curious about anything so we should keep an eye on them to also make sure they’re not wandering towards the generator.
      2) WHERE TO RUN YOUR GENERATOR: Some people use their portable generators indoors which increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s important to have a carbon monoxide if you have a gas generator. Never ever use your generator indoors even if your doors and windows are open and even in the garage is not safe to use a portable generator. Not even at your porch and your deck. It is never safe to use your generator indoors and in enclosed areas of your home. Your generator needs to be 15-20 feet away from your house.
      3)🔥FIRE HAZARDS: Never refuel your generator while it’s running. You need to let your generator cool off before refueling it and before storing your generator. Never overload your generator too. Never ever back feed your generator. You should never plug your generator into a wall outlet. Also never store propane tanks indoors. Please keep flammable things away from the generator as well and please don’t smoke cigarettes near the generator. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the generator safety rules.
      4) GENERATOR OPERATION: make sure your hands are dry before touching the generator. Never use your generator in wet conditions. Don’t let your generator get wet. You need a generator tent if you need to use your generator during wet weather. Please don’t wear loose clothes when operating the generator. Turn on your generator before plugging in appliances. Use the right cord for your generator. Please do not use worn out cords.

    Had the exact same unit. Bought it new to replace a Generac GP6500. Have to be honest, the GO series ran so much better and the lights never flickered under load. With this unit, light flickered and surprisingly the mIn breaker tripped 3 times with similar loads as I ran on GP6500. This is a Lowe's brand machine. Sold mine after Tropical storm Isaias and bought the GP17500E

    I like that you don't have a crazy opening intro with annoying music. I have been stuck in bed for a week after foot surgery, and I've been binge watching your videos. I have learned more about generators and gas motors than an average person would need to know (and that's a good thing).
    I think Harbor Freight should sponsor you. #harborfreight
    Also, I get that it's a harbor freight ultrasonic cleaner, but I cringe whenever people stick their fingers inside a running ultrasonic cleaner. When I was working in research lab, my professor stuck his finger into an ultrasonic cleaner (granted it was a much more powerful one) for a split sec I attempt to retrieve a small item. He said he lost all sensation to that finger tip!

      Would be concerned that the car charging system would put too many amps into the dead battery which could lead to an issue. Would recommend a new battery or a battery charger that has a maintenance mode like the "Battery Tender".

    I've drained my year old fuel and ran some thru the lawn mower and the rest thru the car, it was treated and ran good in the mower so I figured it was good enough for the car and no issues, but what do you do with a tank mostly full of very old fuel?

    • @jcondon1
      @jcondon1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I guess is depends on how old and how bad. If it is really bad then I recycle it. My town has a collection twice a year. Most of it I use in my lawn mower. I just run it through a coffee filter to clean it up, remove the water and sometimes will mix it with fresh stuff to help it out. Just cut the grass with 8 year old gas yesterday without issue. In the past, I have put it in my car. I don't anymore. Mostly because I am worried about clogging up my fuel filter which is inside the gas tank and not easy to change.

    I got a wiring diagram for this model. It appears that the power board is powered by a transformer that hooks up to the hour meter. I think if I replace the transformer the power module and hour meter will begin working. I am reluctant to replace both GFCI outlets until I can confirm all of the grounds are working correctly. I stubbornly refuse to believe both outlets are bad. I have seen other threads where the grounding can effect the resetting of the 120 sockets. I will let you know what I find. Any idea how to test the transformer or where i can find the transformer if I need to replace it?

      d vasq they go quick in my area so I check a couple times a day. Also I think it depends on where you live. I am fairly close the New York City. A lot a wealthy towns in the area. People buy these things in response to a storm and then do not know how to take care of them and just want them gone once they stop working. My mother-in-law lives down south near South Carolina and I always look when visiting her area, but I find nothing there at these prices. ⚠️Here’s an important safety announcement for everyone:
      Please make sure you follow the generator safety tips whenever you use your portable generator. This is just a reminder for everyone’s safety. All generator safety rules need to be followed carefully
      Here are the generator safety tips:
      1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an non qualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator.

    • @jcondon1

      The GP series costs more and is powered by a generac made engine. The XT I believe has a Chinese engine. Both are good, but I am cheap so would probably go for the XT series. Also the XT series is easier to work on.

    boy, that was a steal of a deal! When you know what you are doing....I'm living 8n the Bahamas and I have a Generac 5000. I use it to run my water pumps for farm irrigation. Unfortunately, I am afraid to put it in the generator room because I have already had two stolen from me. They were chained to an eye-ring that was cemented into the floor of the generator room. The criminals cut the stain steel chain with the keyed locks and left me without power. My head is still out to lunch. You got yourself a dam good generator. Is it for sale and how much?

    • @jcondon1
      @jcondon1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Maria-Theresa Kemp I don’t blame you for not wanting to leave it. A chain will only slow someone down, but if they have the right tools then it will not slow then much. I have not listed my generator for sale yet. Will probably ask around $550 for it. There are special hardened steel chains I see securing bikes in NY City. It might help, but you wold also need a good lock and eye ring. Schlage 12mm Noose Security Chain (No Lock) www.amazon.com/dp/B00X6E0NE0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_92IgFbW03ZTKR
