I remember this concert, it was in 98 on Lisbon Colosseum and Beck played a killer setlist on an awsome show! It was some months before Mutations release and I remember he played Debra from the 1999 Midnight Vultures, and amazing versions of looser, beercan, high 5...
Shit! I went to this concert and it was simply amazing. Full house, hot weather, every body going crazy, dancing throughout the show... Basically more like a huge party rather than a concert. Beck always loved to play in Portugal because of this, great atmosphere, no fights, everybody having fun. Simply unforgettable! How I miss these concerts in Lisbon Coloseum...
Mutations is my favorite album, and this song shows the range of Beck's talent!!! I quit going to concerts a few years ago, but I'd kill to see him live, especially in a smaller venue...
this is great, he looks happy. A lot of live clips of Beck, he doesn't look present, or like the stage sound isn't very good. He's really having fun! Thanks sound guys.
Brilliant Artists like Beck (like his Uncle) usually can float above all the man made spiritual structured dogma. I was VERY surprised he went into Scientology, now he can share quality time with the likes of Tom Cruise and John Travolta. COME ON BECK
Why discuss his religion, that is his choice. It is his music that counts here. He is giving us his art to enjoy not his private life. A man like Beck is free to create and select his own decisions without caring what others think. I like to have power over my own choices too and do not need to get approval from others either.
yeah i agree. I really like when he does that kind of bossa nova style. but I also like his hip-hop/big band/pop stuff like midnight vultures album. I don't know so much about the information..there are good parts of some songs, but mostly just noise...
Sinister warp of a workable system that relieves Spiritual travail stress and restores ability, I should know , I am clear and would bot trade this for anything.
xshabootiex: "Justin and brian? Justin's the bass, and and Brian's like casio dj stuff. I don't think brians in this video, but Justins the one at 2 minutes." I saw Brian live in 2000, in Buenos Aires. His hair was magestic.
the funny thing is that there is a kind of bossa nova beat, but the name of the song is Tropicalia, wich is a diferent musical moviment. And It has some topicalia caracteristics, so its not exactly contraditory.
OH MY FUCKING GOD, Beck looks either like a kid or an angel in this vid.. and still enthusiastic.. it's a bit of a pity that he seems to act so "grown up" in his recent shows i mean, 27 or 37, who cares?
granted her death was a sad one. then again many people have died in many religions, because of people in those belief systems. like i said - so thank whoever for music. (thanks for the info king)
Don't get me wrong, I adore Beck....but don't state that he can't help the situation because he was born into it. Scientology is a modern religeous cult started by a Science fiction writer in which you have to get rid of the REACTIVE mind and ultimately become a "clear". Its cloaked in secrecy, and is super vindictive to those who quit/expose the inner secrets. Beck may not champion his religeous views, and I think that is a good thing. His art speaks volumes, and much respect for that! -peace
come on...beck better than caetano, gil and mutantes?beck's music is nice but if you listen the others you will know that you're wrong...and caetano, mutantes and gil are the guys who create tropicália

Beck is The Musician of our days

favorite single!
0:15 kills me!!! That smile!!!
You are right !
Such a good review for our tropicalia!! Brazil!!
stunning!
He looks so young and adorable here. o:
Actually Tropicalia is a movement of brazilian´s pop music in the 60`s.
Brilliant Artists like Beck (like his Uncle) usually can float above all the man made spiritual structured dogma. I was VERY surprised he went into Scientology, now he can share quality time with the likes of Tom Cruise and John Travolta. COME ON BECK
What a cute! Love this freaky smile (?) at 2:07. Great music too, very... Brazilian? Fuck yeah, Beck rulez.
awesome
amazing, really
pum ...pum pum¡¡¡¡ beck show,, tropicaliam
In October/November of this year.

Lol, you girls...
Beck is cool, original, I can't stop listening to his 1993 album Mellow Gold.
mmm, Becklicious!

música brasileira cantada em inglês para um público português.
i wish i would go to the show like that. Beck to me is like Lennon in 90's
What 😂
i never see him in concert before :(
and i live in asia
xshabootiex: "Justin and brian? Justin's the bass, and and Brian's like casio dj stuff. I don't think brians in this video, but Justins the one at 2 minutes."
I saw Brian live in 2000, in Buenos Aires.
His hair was magestic.
i was there!
in 98
beck is hawt!
Yeah, I'm bummed that Justin's touring with NIN right now, but whatevs, the show'll still be great.
Beck is the 2 sexiest man alive after the singer Morrissey!
the funny thing is that there is a kind of bossa nova beat, but the name of the song is Tropicalia, wich is a diferent musical moviment. And It has some topicalia caracteristics, so its not exactly contraditory.
that was actually a pretty cool song.
At 0:14 he looks so adorable!!!
anyone know the beck filmclip where he's using a fork as a capo?
wow ive always wanted to see Beck live, he doesnt tour much does he? when was the last time anyone heard of him in the NE part of the US?
this music looks so brazilian..i believe the lyrics are about Brazil too..Its like a gringo's bossa
=)
It's tight seeing Smokestack with Beck though :D
Does anyone know where I can find the video of Loser from this same concert? It was the best version I'd ever heard.
just because he has different beliefs doesent make him a bad person
nice dude i am brazilian
he does look really young for his age ..im 28 .. and i must admit i look older than that ..
k back to the music... was this during the midnight vultures tour?
OH MY FUCKING GOD, Beck looks either like a kid or an angel in this vid.. and still enthusiastic.. it's a bit of a pity that he seems to act so "grown up" in his recent shows i mean, 27 or 37, who cares?
@sheepers411
yeah, a mixture of Luke Skywalker and David Soul ;)
By the way, this song that is more um samba-rock, a 60's post-bossa-nova style. Bossa Nova is a 50's style and Tropicália, 60's.
Anyone know a link or somewhere to download a bootleg copy of this show? I'd kill to watch the entire set.
I always thought Beck was kinda cute back then.
+corkey04 He was and still is :D

xshabootiex (1 week ago): "My favorite people in the band is Beck, of course..Justin, and Bryan."
which are those?
quis dizer: o que não descarta a influência da bossa nova, of couse.
@glgaspar, bom, é muito mais para um samba rock a la Jorge Benjor né? O que não descarta a influencia do samba rock of course
he is a child here damn
imagine a duet :zooey deschanell and beck
Untrue
When you say he doesn't want to tour again, is he referring to forever or what?
no it cant be, look how short JMJ's hair is
0:14 xD
Why what did she do?
He's not even 40, though. I'd love to believe that though. When did he say that?
he seperates himself from scientology, I believe.
Anyway, who cares? Beck rocks.
Don't get me wrong, I adore Beck....but don't state that he can't help the situation because he was born into it.

Hey Marcbackman, "Scientology is a viable religion"? Kind of like brainwashing or idiocy is a viable religion.
come on...beck better than caetano, gil and mutantes?beck's music is nice but if you listen the others you will know that you're wrong...and caetano, mutantes and gil are the guys who create tropicália
so much anger towards scientology, wonder why, just like anger against every other "thing" your not a part of. thank god for music then.
