About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zealand band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

There is no one on the planet like Beck. I was fortunate to have seen the Midnite Vultures tour and he blew my head off. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
I remember buying the "Midnight Vultures" CD back in '99, putting this song on in the car outside the store, and almost getting in a wreck from laughing so hard. My travelling partner and I had to play that sucker four times straight, which is the mark of a genius song. A few years later, The Flight of the Conchords came out with their show on HBO, and I couldn't help but think, "This group has based their entire routine off of "Debra"!".

I seriously feel like people don’t talk about Beck’s insane vocal range enough. Like he goes sooo fuckin low normally, and then just kills the high notes in this song. Especially that goddamn last note of the chorus.

Was lucky enough to see him perform this in Cincy at the Taft Theater & they lowered a huge bed w/red satin sheets onto the stage for him to sing this on. One of my all time favorite Beck shows!

There were some real life spinal tap moments with that bed. Some nights it didn't come down. Or by the time it did come down the song would be over.

Is the sax player laughing cause Beck messed up the lyrics? His recorded version says something like “gonna take u up to Glendale..,gonna take ya for a real good meal. Cause when our eyes did meet…u know I was packing heat”. Here he replaced the packing heat line with (after a pause n the music , waiting for him to say the line and it doesn’t seem to come to him fast enough, hence the long pause, and instead blurts out ‘ain’t no use in wasting no time’ …then he just goes with it and repeats the line again cause now he’s back on with the timing. Am I hearing this right, or am I way off? Regardless, he kicks ass and he knocked the ball out of the ballpark with this one. The whole damned album kicks ass on so many levels.
