    My niece is traveling to Jordan to from the US to live and work for a few years. I was concerned at first because I know nothing about the Middle East, but this video has eased my mind greatly.

      @@faithyayi Hello, Palestinian American here, lived in Jordan for like 11 years. It's very easy for Americans to find work in Jordan if she has a degree, as they love when they are an English-speaker. I was told that when I graduate college I would be offered a position this company would create just for me. I moved back to the US though after to finish my schooling!

      I can't really speak as if I've lived in Jordan but as a fellow Arab American who went on vacation multiple times I can say America is more expensive for cost of living. Meanwhile the Jordanian gross income is less (although not taxed nearly as much) except if you're retired this won't play a part.
      If you are looking for "western" experiences like buying full priced clothing from the mall and going out for certain luxuries or western food the price may be more expensive. But for someone who buys clearance clothing, Arabic food, and prefers to do free activities then expect a much lower expense in that department. Also, utility prices and rent payments are much lower.

    Hello, my name is Ayad Gharbawi, and my daughter, Alex is 17. We live in the UK, coming from Syria in 2010, So, Alex is basically 'English'. I'm trying to be as brief as possible. I want to go back to the Mid-East, living in Amman. There's so many problems, the biggest is Alex, because for an English teen, Amman/Arabs terrify her, and I'm not gonna force her of course. Second, I am fluent in speaking Arabic, reading Arabic only as in menus, street signs but not books. I have no one in Amman, so I don't know where to live. Anyway, I'll end her, who knows if you'll even read this. Either way, thanks and God bless you. Ayad

    • @youma3551
      @youma3551  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Ayad
      It’s nice to meet you, I can see that your situation is difficult and yes it’s not easy for a teenager to move across the world and start over, my advice to you is to study your carrier situation first, I mean if you find a good job with good income in Jordan then you should talk to your daughter and move here, but if you have a good job and life in UK then stay there because Jordan economy is not that good after COVID-19 and its really hard to find a decent job, aside from that I think your daughter will have more opportunities in UK, so I hope I was helpful to you and I wish you the best of luck...
      Take Care

    • @Ayadxxify
      @Ayadxxify 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@youma3551 Marwa & Angelina, thank you for your reply. I know unless if u r rich, one cannot get a decent job in Jordan, or in most countries like Jordan, especially when ur Arabic is awful. In my case, my idea is to live off the properties I have in the UK, and continue writing, etc. My daughter would have to study Arabic first, before anything else. Anyway, it is so difficult cos there are so many videos on Amman, each saying this & that. Is it true, u can only drink, wash & bathe in 'filtered water'? Also, is it true costs are like the UK? That's crazy! We want to leave the UK to escape the prices here and now I hear costs for basics such as food, gas, electricity, taxes, etc are the same as the UK?! Meanwhile buying a 2 bed flat/apartment in Amman costs a minimum of 90,000 JD, that's what I've seen; is that true? I assume anything less costly would be a hideous apartment, right? I have so many questions ... If the streets have no names, [that's also a U2 song ....] how on earth can you submit online your address if you have no address?! Also to get anything online, like an Uber or buy food, can we type in English? Are there pubs, bars like in the West, serving alcohol, for teens or no? [Can u imagine an alcohol-free bar in the West?!] Thanks, sorry for the tons of questions. Ayad

      @abdullahkhatib1464 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Ayadxxify I studied in the UK, Bristol to be specific, I can tell you that the cost of living in Jordan is much lower. You can rent a nice 3 bedroom apartment for about 300 quid a month. The rent for a room was 400-500 in Bristol. There are pubs in Amman but it is not really what most people do around here and the drinking age here is 18. With regards to water, you can drink tap water and you wouldn't get sick. I certainly do but we do have a filter because my family likes it better. I think it is too overblown. When I first moved to the UK it took sometime before getting used to the taste of water over there because it tastes different to filtered or tap water in Jordan. You probably should visit for a bit before committing to move here to see what is like. Animal products are a bit more expensive in the UK but vegetables are much more expensive than Jordan. We don't have Amazon in Jordan. You can buy stuff online they will directly contact you on your phone and probably ask you to send google location. Delivery is faster in Jordan but you don't have as many choices since we don't have something like Amazon. Some restaurants are way too expensive in Amman considering the average income. Costa and Starbucks cost as much as it costs in the UK which given the disparity in income is insane. If your daughter is going to school in Jordan, I would recommend going to an international school so she can get her A levels which can be costly. Also, I think she might not enjoy being in Jordan if she is happy in the UK because it is much different socially. I hope that was helpful, good luck!
