    I have the Expride rods in the light & medium power but tried the Expride MH and thought it was too soft at the tip for bottom contact baits.... do you find the Zodias medium-heavy to be stronger?

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. I believe that the Zodias does a better job with bottom contact baits, such as jigs and texas rigs, than the Expride B. However the Expride B is better at popping reaction baits, such as the spinnerbait and the rattletrap, off of the bottom. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    Hey, i have a question. Do you think ''Okuma ITX Spinning ITX-1000H would work well on the Shimano Zodias Spinning rod? I'm after normal perch and normal sized pike!

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the Okuma ITX spinning reel size 1000 would work well on the Shimano Zodias. It would work best on the light models. Thank you for the question and thank you for watching the video 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    I read about several complaints from american fishing fellas about FedEx delivery. My experiences are the complete opposite. When I order an USDM or JDM rod - which mostly are handled by FedEx International - delivery is lightning fast and no damage at all so far....Nevertheless I would have been enraged too as the risk of a damaged rod in such a tube is quite high. Nice rods for a good price. once again well done Mali 👍

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know if you noticed in the video, but I was very anxious as to what I would see in that rod tube. Fortunately, I was greatly relieved that no harm was done to the rods. I am heartened that your experience is much better and I hope you continue to receive that excellent service from Fedex. Thanks for y our comments and for your support of the channel.

    good afternoon, please tell me what do you think shimano zodias 270ml-2 with wobblers or jerkbait in size 110????

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the question. If you are using Fluorocarbon as your main line or your leader, you may want to buy a medium, not a medium light. You will need just a little more backbone on the retrieve and when reeling in the fish. If you are only using braided line, the medium light would work better because it needs to absorb shock of the fish loading onto your bait.

  • @bestthingsinceslicedrice

    I wonder if this is a good replacement for my Gloomis e6x medium 8 6ft?
    For some reason I never had luck catching anything on that rod compared to my JDM Daiwa Lateo R

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have never thrown a GLoomis E6X but that new zodias would be a fantastic addition to your rod and reel arsenal. Thanks for watching the video and supporting the channel.

  • @iriana1189
    @iriana1189 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Which one is better, the zodias or the st.croix victory for senko application?

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for your question and thank you for watching. Zodias is best. The is much more sensitive and the backbone of the rod is more responsive than the St. Croix Victory. Additionally The components to make up the Zodias are passed down from the NRX and the Conquest vs the Victory which cut a few corners to compete in that price range. The most egregious example are the guides. So the Zodias for sure. 👏🏿👏🏿

    • @iriana1189
      @iriana1189 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@familybudgetfisherman Is the zodias medium rod flexible at the tip? I like a more flexible rod with some backbone. I didn’t like the st.croix 7ft1 medium victory rod because it was too stiff for me. If I were to get a zodias rod, should I get a medium lite or medium?

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is. The Zodias is more flexible BUT maintains a very powerful hookset. Shimano added the hi power X wrapping design to the 2020 Zodias (down from the Conquest) to achieve that very capability. So when you’re fishing with it you will notice that it is flexible past fourth guide. However when a fish bites, you can actually feel the power of that rod helping you manage the hookset.

    • @iriana1189
      @iriana1189 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@familybudgetfisherman -Are you referring to the medium action or ML? Last question, Shimano expride or shimano zodias?

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@iriana1189 No problem on the number of questions. Keep the questions and comments and advice flowing. This is the reason for this channe😎l. The medium is best suited for your application. If you are using a lot of light wire hooks or you’re throwing a lot of crappy style jigs than the medium light would be better. The medium can also throw a good number of crank baits and smaller reaction baits. With a medium action you get a better General use rod than you would with the medium heavy or the medium light.
      The Expride is Shimano‘s “Bass” rod model. That ride was designed to be competitive with other bass specific rods, in that price point, on the market.
      The Expride is not a general used rod. So if you need a rod for multi species fishing, stay with the Zodias. However if you are specifically focusing on bass, the Expride is the better choice. As a matter of fact the Expride is so fine tuned for bass fishing that the next level up from that rod in terms of quality and performance is the NRX+.

      I do not anticipate baitcasters being part of my arsenal at any time in the future. I do on to bait cast rods. They are the previous generation Shimano Curados. Each of them are 7’8” MH. I have actually thrown them in the past. I just prefer, and do better work with, spinning equipment. Thanks for the question.

      What I meant to say
      What’s the odds of Shimano making a 2024 version for this rod ? I think they had great success with the Expride from 23 so in my mind I think this rod is due for a upgrade maybe ? What’s your thoughts

    • @familybudgetfisherman
      @familybudgetfisherman  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Lord_Hiram it’s not likely since the upgrade that the Shimano Zodias got is very similar to what the Expride B got. Even the 2023 Shimano Curado was upgraded to the 2018 Zodias model. The Shimano Poison Ultima is the newest rod with the newest technology. The technology from that rod is not yet prepared to be passed down so that rods like the Zodias get the upgrades. 2025 will be the earliest you will see the Shimano lineup get upgrades; except, maybe the Poison Adrena. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

    So is anyone else having issues with these rods breaking??? I’m on my third one that just broke on me. The first one broke at the tip at that time my boy was working at BP so took it back. The second time I just got it back from warranty exchange two months ago or less. Fished with it around 3 times and I baby the damn thing. It broke a quarter of the way from the top while casting. This last time it broke in half while casting. All I use it for is throwing dead shrimp on a 1/16 jig head. It’s the 7’ MH so it should be more than enough rod for that.
    They travel with rod warrior neoprene covers and neoprene reel covers. All rods ride up in the cab of my truck so no slapping around in bed of truck. I have custom rods by fish stix, J&H and H&H that have never broke once. They treated great as well however not babied like this Zodias.
    I bought it for the fact that it looked great paired with the vanford. Which by the way is basically a brand new reel cause it spends more time sitting on the sidelines. This is a sad rod!!!
