🌟 DESCRIPTION🌟
THOUGHTS ON THE FF7 REBIRTH: I've never fully played the original on PS1, so I don't have many notions of what the game "should" be or how the story should play out. I know the story, respect the game, but I was a Nintendo kid growing up, so I never got to appreciate FF7 in its time. Just wanted to say that so you understand the perspective I'm coming from. I understand if there's things about that bother fans of the original but for me, all in all, this is now one of my top 3 Final Fantasy games if not my favorite. I was lost in this world for the past 5 days. I couldn't wait to keep playing and my mind was consumed with this beautiful world.
As for gameplay mechanics, it feels much like FF7 Remake but just more refined and fluid. They've found the perfect blend of strategy and real-time action that never gets dull. I played it on normal and it felt like the perfect level of difficulty for my taste. It wasn't hard by any means, but many of the boss fights required me to figure out their weaknesses, time my blocks, and use the right materia to get the job done.
As for the story, I felt the overarching narrative takes a backseat in this game. By the end, I didn't really care about what's happening to the planet, didn't care about Sephiroth, about Shinra.
The main story was just was background noise for me. Usually that'd be a terrible thing to say, but I feel FF7 Remake did a good job of setting up the stakes of our mission. This was, after all, originally all in one game so that dynamic makes sense to me. With that being said, I do feel it's an absolutely necessity to play the first game to get the best out of the second. That may seem obvious, and most people probably will play both, but I recently read Square Enix say that you don't need to play the first to enjoy the second. I firmly disagree with that. I think it's a necessity. At the very least, to familiarize yourself with the world/story of Remake.
For me, the real reason to play and explore is expand the relationships between all the party members and unravel their stories one side mission at a time. I ended up caring about every single one of the party members (even Yuffie!) and couldn't wait to find out more about their back stories; to unravel the tragedies and triumphs that motivated them. Ultimately I only cared about saving the world because I NEEDED to save them. FF7 Remake lacked some of that charm, which makes sense since the group hadn't really meshed yet. This is the most I've felt attached to a party of heroes since Mass Effect 2!
That's not to say they were the only interesting thing about the game. The world is vibrant, fun and full of things to do. There's minigames galore, they're at every turn to keep you engaged in this colorful world. Exploring is almost always reward with more tidbits of interesting lore. As always, some NPCs are more interesting than others, but all in all the side stories are worth your time. It feels much more alive in a way that FF7 Remake never did.
Overall this playthrough took 65 hours. I did the entire main story, the majority of the side missions that built the relationship with party members, and about 50% of world intel, 20% of protorelics. There's still much more to do: I could easily get another 40 hours out of the game.
9.5/10
P.S. We also did the game movie in parts, if you prefer to watch in smaller chunks. Check it out here!

I did leave the music on, but there were some moments were I had to edit around it for copyright reasons. But for the most part everything is intact, and hopefully you won't even notice it. Thanks for watching!

It's a bit hit and miss. I enjoy what they have done with the game, but still, there's a bit too fluff in the game for my liking, which if they skipped they could have had the entire game created in one game, and we'd have all played it 4years ago, instead of this "milking it" for as long they can which I feel that they are doing.
PS Thanks for upload all the parts, I watched them all, because I won't be buying a PS5. I mean if it's gonna be on PC eventually like the 1st part, why bother?
Plus you can't mod the Playstation version, in time it will be the inferior version. Well that's just my opinion. Good day to you.
PS I am sad Cid and Vincent are not properly in this game, especially since I used those 2 characters in my party and Cid is my favourite character in the original.
Definitely, if you're willing to wait, the PC version felt so much better for Intergrade, no doubt it will for this game too. I see what you mean but milking feels too strong of words for me, when they're both incredibly in depth and fulfilling experiences. But where I do agree is that they don't feel complete without each other, and that's the biggest glaring issue for me. I'm guessing the third one will be the same in that regard.
Thanks for watching the parts! Much appreciated.@@neat3468
@@glpSup' GLP!
@@glpLevelling up your characters and your inventory is a difficult thing to split up between parts. When I mean milking it, I mean Square is not rushing to finish anything, because they know it's gonna make a ton of money for them long term. I mean you can't blame them, they are a business after all. Still, none of us are getting any younger and well it's already been 10 years since they first announced the remake, does it really need to take THAT long to finish a game. A lot of FF7 fans will have passed away and be unable to complete the remake, and to me I find that quite sad.
I don't even know what happens to your materia from the 1st game to the next and your levelling up (it seems it all goes back to lvl 1)
Not having the whole game in one entire package I think is quite sad since most of what you accumulated in this 2nd part won't be going to the 3rd at a guess.
I think Rebirth was much better paced than Remake. I really disliked how they took such a small part of the game and padded it out so much. I think you could lose 75 percent of that game and not really be at a loss for anything.
This one, there was still plenty of fluff, a bit too many unnecessary side quests (like the Costa del Sol stuff felt particularly unnecessary, though amusing). Otherwise, almost every chapter was a key part from the original game.
The voice work has been pretty good, though I felt the girls were a bit too animated, and the boys a bit too gravely. Except Cid and Cait, they was perfect.
It was a little silly how many side quests they had to capture runaway chocobos, and I'm sad that breeding them up wasn't in there. I guess it makes sense though when the game is so fragmented.
I really think part 1 and 2 should have been a single game. The next part I feel would be fine as a second one, but they really need to find a way for your stuff to carry over more though.
My favorite change was when the party meets Vincent, and they fight him as Galian Beast. I also love that they kept his ineptitude with technology in tact.
My least favorite change, as much as I love the man himself, was Cid being so available. The Tiny Bronco breaking down was so random without the stuff from Rocket Town to give it context. I'm a little worried about how they are gonna weave all that in. At least, Cid seems a bit kinder for it.
Only thing I really hated was Loveless.
I watched each part as they came out. I did watch on 1.25 to 1.5 speed depending on what was going on, and I did skip ten seconds a lot, mostly during the side quests and some of the Press A Button To Struggle To Move parts. The multi world thing is still confusing for me, but I cried a whole lot anyway. They did a lot of the hard hitting scenes justice.
Man sephiroth was so chill dude. Crazy how he flipped
I know right. Maybe he was already on the edge of insanity but did a good job of hiding it.
Flipped? More like activated!
His chill attitude reflects how he regards everything. Such chill attitude is still the same, only the objects now have changed.

Okay, I'm only an hour into this, and I have to say the following:
Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to not only play and capture all of this but edit it so that those of us who don't have time to play or want to rewatch this in its entirety can do so without missing a single beat. I know this took you so much time to do, but we are SO grateful man.
Or those us who dont have playstations
Thank you!
I'm only on part 6/12 right now, but I just wanted to say your compilation was the best because you included the in game cutscenes to make it an actual "movie" compared to the other TH-camrs
Thanks bro, that means a lot. I'm glad you're liking our style of compilation! Hope you enjoy the game movie
@@glpthis is one of the main reasons why I watch and recommend your videos. It’s cause you add all the dialogue in between! And so that you don’t miss anything !
@@glpIt massively helps because the fixed cutscenes in a lot of games don't give enough information to have any idea of the in depth plot. So, thanks 😀
@@glp I've been a fan of Your channel for who knows how long. Any time I want to watch a video game cutscene movie your channel is the first one I check. Something I appreciate is how you include all the necessary/important dialogues from cutscenes to fights to normal walking around, it really elevates the story telling and not everyone does that. trust me I've looked around and compared lol. As well you don't post any spoilers in your titles or thumbnails either! I know I can trust you. Ever since rebirth came out every day I would refresh your channel to see if you uploaded a new part and once you did I watched it ASAP! I was willing to wait for your videos as it felt more complete and cared for rather than others that posted the "full thing" but you can sense there was stuff missing in between As I don't have a PS5 i have to wait for it to come to PC so i can play it myself so thank you!
It's nice...i ran across this while going through youtube...decided to watch it before I went to sleep...got an hour in before I checked how much longer I had to go...video is over 21 hours!!!! lol....going to take a week or two to watch it...but lets me get the story/gameplay while casually doing chores.
See y’all again in the next 3 years or so. 🥹
Lets us hope it's only 3 years too lol. Can't wait for the 3rd one!
Considering 2027 will be 30th Anniversary of the OG FFVII PS1 game and VII franchise as a whole hopefully
Gotta be seven years in all
I doubt it, if you already played the OG one, then you know we've only gone half way. There's still a lot to cover, so the last game will be massive with all the bosses and cutscenes. I anticipate 2028
@@roleemack1535Not only that, Final Fantasy itself will be 40 years old in '27.
Not sure who’s got worse mental health issues: Cloud or us trying to figure out the story at the end
Yes.
say no more
Us. More likely.
I still don’t know if I should cry or if everything is fine
the original ff7 story in 97 was confusing also. The end villain is Sephiroth. He is trying to get the black materia to create a meteor that would destroy the planet. The way to counter that is the white materia that Aerith has. So Sephiroth killed Aerith. Shinra is just an evil company or side villain. Shinra progresses the plot but in the end, they are not that important. So the ending is the party kills Sephiroth and the planet heals.
Shinra's worst mistake ever sending Sephiroth anywhere near Nibelheim, Jenova, and that library.
From the perspective of them achieving their own goals, agreed. Tho one _could_ take a step back and argue that their biggest mistakes were (a) inventing Mako reactors and/or (b) exploiting Jenova in the first place.
@ferd617 so much explanation not compute
I thought they did it on purpose, or at least Hojo did because he wanted to test Reunion Theory
probably hojo doing so as a sort fo human experiment. there wouldnt be a reason to send him here otherwise
i can only say there is no mistake sending Sephiroth along with Zack on Nibelheim mission.they already know what will happen in Nibelheim
they send 2 the strongest SOLDIERS around just for inspection of reactor.
just you know its a set up
and books beneath the mansion about Sephiroth birth probably white lies
i highly doubt it Hojo would just left there unguarded his high prized knowledge.
20:58:36 zack summarizing the entirety of rebirth in one sentence. how nice of him
It’s so iconic for him too lol

@@asar1065 couldn't have said it better myself.
Zack + Cloud = how the player feels after rebirth...
Man post-game depression be hitting me so hard, I feel so empty after beating FFVII Rebirth
Same, I wanted to go complete the game as much I could after beating it. But the moment I booted it up again it really hit me again, guess I still hadn't really healed from 25 years ago......
Tho I got a theory on what happened at the end there when it happened.
I think Sephiroth jumped timelines or dimension, cuz we 100% saw Cloud saving her. The moment when I thought she was save I called my best friend saying she would survive (he alr finished the game), only to show him my live reaction that a Canon event can't be changed
@@AnotherGeek.... it might be Aerith's plan to help Cloud save her for that at least in 1 timeline she's alive to counter Seph's plan. Even though Seph attempted to distort the timeline back to the OG where she died but ultimately her plan worked, even Seph agreed he underestimated her.
@Khang-qm3hc I agree. I have reason to believe that at the end of remake, aeriths materia became empty because the whispers took key memories from her and split them up amongst other aeriths, aware that this one fails to summon holy. The next time we will see aerith will more or likely be the one from Zacks Timeline. When cloud is telling aerith to "wake up", there's a high probability that he is speaking to the comatose aerith from the Zack timeline. What Marlene tells Zack mid game is further support for this idea. Idk... I could also be a crazy as cloud is though. 😂
@@vice-virtue lol maybe Aerith pissed him so bad that he decided to kill her in any timelines she exists 🤣 Seph knows so well the active white materia is the key of defeating him. At the start of chapter 14 Aerith in the alternate timeline knows Seph is comming for her so she transported Cloud to give him her materia before Seph comes to set the OG timeline in motion. That might be the reason why Marlene didn't want Zack to wake Aerith up because somehow she knew if Seph senses her appeareance in any timeline he'll come to kill her. Just theories tho, it’s a multiverse so anything can happen. Just hope the writers know what they’re doing and wrap it up nicely
There’s nothing to feel empty about. This is not Final Fantasy VII.

Why not Cait Sith, Barrett, Red, Vincent, and the pilot man? :(
You mean Cid
With the level of detail this game has, its like watching a 21 hour Final Fantasy 7 movie. What a time to be alive, and thanks so much for uploading this as well as all the editing that must have gone into this.
20:33:48 Advent children vibes
That is such a beautifully haunting theme...
Advent Children had a great soundtrack. Glad to see it being put to use.
I knew it ,when i heard this it's no way they will change the story ,Aerith :( .
Having all the Shinra troopers quick-march like a bunch of demented meerkats was a stroke of comedy genius.
(Anywhere from 4:32:45 to about 6 minutes later, when the drill team fetch quest is completed.)
Wait! Like demented Meerkat _conga lines!_

12:50 - I swear for half a second I thought Zack was gonna start singing.
Thank you so much for this great work, from all the big fans that don't own a PS5. The original was my all times favorite game, because of the legendary story. Can't wait to check it out. You guys are the best!
Thanks for watching! I really hope you get to play it yourself down the line as well, it's definitely worth the time. It's my early frontrunner for game of the year so far.
Best part about seeing Cloud toting his sword in the remake, is realizing how many times it would literally impale half the stuff he sits on during the cutscenes.
I'm still partial to the impossibility of him wielding that thing with his spindly spaghetti arms.
(Also, how big a letdown was it when the APB for Cloud described him as being "armed with a Buster sword"? _A_ Buster sword!?!? I always imagined _THE_ Buster Sword was one-of-a-kind, not a widely-recognized model name!)
Maybe it's nanotech? That's the reason? Or Cloud has enhanced body.
i never had ps4 or 5, or even good pc to play this game, thanks man, u let us experience this game again
I'm you love the story as much as we did!

Sir gitarisbejat judging from your comment I can safely assume you finished the whole video
May I ask
Say in the video the player had to pick between tifa or aerith
Which did the player pick? Aerith?
Loved how convoluted the whole ending was, cant wait to not understand the next one!
Red XII in uniform made me laugh really hard! Good stuff!
Hearing Aerith sing threw me for a loop, it sounds nothing like what she sounds like the rest of the game.😂
First watch--Sephiroth was actually a fine gentleman! Stopped at 1:50:00
Second watch--lots of running errands and two grands! Stopped at 3:50:00
*Timestamp: **4:05:25** Just casually see Tifa vibin', laying on the grass and watching the blue sky next to Cloud ^^*
Third watch--I laughed so hard when loner type Cloud is forced to become the captain of Midgar's seventh infantry, and then I laughed harder when Red challenged Cloud for a card game battle in the ship lol! Stopped at 5:30:00
Fourth watch: Lol I didn't predict Barrett would wear that sailor crew suit for two chapters straight, suits him well! Stopped at 7:30:00
Fifth watch: It's feels odd to see the most temperamental person in the group could hold back so much while being bullied. I feel sorry for Barrett and what he had gone through. Stopped at 8:30:00
*Timestamp: **8:43:40** wow didn't predict Tifa would actually ask out Cloud for date, and onward she's the one who initiates to hold hands too (trivia: If you romanced her better, there's a chance for Clo-Ti's kiss in the skwheel)*
Sixth watch: Hold up, does the cat really just casually sit on Tifa's lap behind the steer, and use her chest as a comfortable driver's seat??!!! Stopped at 10:00:00
*Timestamp: **10:12:10** IS THAT RUFUS?!! **10:37:45** Double deadly stare*
I wish Cissnei had more screentime, she's the jewel in this chapter. That scene when Tifa is trapped inside the giant materia is simply one of the best moments in rebirth, though it can be better had the seiyuu's language tone didn't sound a little too repetitive during her monologue. Stopped at 11:31:00
Seventh Watch: I feel like there's little character development going on with Tifa and Aerith here, as both learned to embrace their faith and become more honest with themselves. Stopped at 12:35:00
Eight watch: Nanaki's origin story is quite touching, as dramatic as Barrett's, I say. I also glad the old man with the flying ball came to his realization and made way through his ignorance. Stopped at 13:08:00
Will continue soon!
19:32 I love how Barret virtually said; "PAUSE" 😂😂🤣🤣👍👍😭😭📝📝
I’m impressed at how accomplished Elena is in this one she wasn’t the brightest in the OG
Always giving away their next move, lol.
Thank you for making these available to us, who cannot play such a magnificent game. You put a lot of effort into these and even make all the important parts known to us.
5:31 - Every time I hear that "SEPH-I-ROTH!" music, all I can think is, "Rectus! Dominus! Cheezy-Poofs!"

Idk the ending…It’s really setting Tifa up to take on the main character role! Clouds mind?! Non existent babes; we’re seeing ghosts now.
I went back and watched Advent Children after watching this, and I have to say Rebirth ties into the events of AC very well. It ties in how certain characters make it into the movie, and AC even had idea of whispers, though not nearly as flushed out. When Sephiroth made his appearance in the movie there were swirling black masses similar to Whispers. So I like to believe that they've been building off of the narrative and ideas of the old to create this masterpiece of a game.
This one was a tear jerker for me in certain spots and at the end. Even when I played the OG game back in the day. Such a great game with a great story.
thank you for making this
Thank you for this gift. I will have it saved so i can watch it whenever i like. 🔥💯
I switched to watching this video because the previous one was a full run through and I don't have that kid of time. But now I wish this video was longer because you actually know how to battle!
Red showing up in a Shinra uniform was the most Scooby-doo shit ever and I loved every second of it.
3 years more until under highwind
And Cloud ghosting Tifa for two years living in his and Aerith place 😂

I never played original FF7 but played Crisis Core back then, loved the story, I never though they went alternative world things that make things confusing, thanks for uploading
The original FF7 on PS1 didn't have alternate worlds (as far as I know)
5:46:55 - I wonder if they've considered that Yuffie might be clinically brain damaged?
Well I would say neurodivergent, she probably has always had a problem fitting in and catering to the mass. Maybe aspergers
zack is the true hero of this game good to see him getting some love.
Very nice. Can't wait for the final arch!
i loved so much how all these timelines were mixing up together in strange way :D sure, for following exactly what happens its not ideal but... gives that "Lost" episode kind of feeling.
13:19:00 Aerith must have sense that it was Zack. That’s just sad
21 hours of cutscenes is insane, and I wonder why my final playtime was 70+ hours.
when that piano comes in just right @20:45:34
... i lose my mind like Cloud
Yeessss! And I'm gonna watch it all over again! Thanks you GLP! :D
One thing it is missing, is a sense of an adventure. Like old days you dont know what is coming when you land out of nowhere, fighting a stronger monster. This feels like watching movie, all guided with a storyline
Agreed. Personally, I loved it. ~ Though that was my one and only critique.
Well they cut out all the gameplay so obviously you are gonna miss out on the exploration part of the game, it’s literally what you spend over 80 hours doing that isn’t shown in this video
I had to get xbox this time round, as I needed to get multiple consoles as my young family grows. Which meant I missed out playing this. So, thank you for doing this video mate. Much appreciated 🤝🏻🏴
Great work!
Thanks!
@@glp I love your movies! always good watch!
First of all, I'm so thankful for these and all the work y'all no doubt put into this. BUT lol... I wish the volume levels had been adjusted before recording. I'm only a little over two hours in, but so far, a lot of dialogue is almost totally drowned out by the blaring BGM. We have the subtitles, of course, (which I'm thankful for) but all the competing noise in some scenes is really hard on the ears.
But thank you again, regardless. 🙇
Agreed, but I kind of took that as at least partly the game's fault. Seemed like it really doesn't know when to quit with the "action" music sometimes. (Like, combat music continuing long after the battle is over, and stomping all over the cutscene dialogue that follows...)
@@ferd617It sounds like that to me too, in some cases, but you can hear the issue even when wandering crowds, where chatter (from both the player characters and NPCs) and the BGM are competing. And that's on the devs, IMO, since audio levels like these should really be optimized out of the box without much user tweaking. But still, if this has settings like Remake's, then I suspect there are sliders for music, SFX, and speech, respectively, that could've been adjusted after the issue was identified.
I played the original more times than I can remember, and this new stuff is REALLY GOOD. That is, if you manage to keep a somewhat open mind. I can see how if you don't, it would be different, but from where I'm at, this game is pure gold. Sadly, although I can afford a PS5, I cannot prioritize it with the turbulent economy. First things first and whatnot. Love the vid, and I'm only at the beginning.
Them making Cid have a Southern Appalachian accent was such a great move.
The fact that the cutscenes result in a 20 hour high quality "movie" is actually kind of incredible.
How long does it normally take to make a 90 minute actual movie? Years? Well, Square made this 20 HOUR movie plus a game around it, and it also *just* took a few years
ah yes, a video i will be watching for multiple days, i love it.
Oh my gosh! Crispin Freeman as the Reporter!!! My life is complete
Thank you for the film. I love it
The final moment....they did so good job....thank you Square.for this.....
Great executions ❤

Ever star wars character:"I have a bad feeling about this."
Bro ty for this now I can go crazy making ff7 edits🙏
Sephirothbis so handsome & charismatic 🔥🔥🔥
Always a legend.
Thanks GLP
God bless you mate thank you
27:20- "What, its not like i found your 'orthepedic underwear,' or nothing.." 🤗😅😅🤣🤣🤣
37:10 - Curse your sudden but inevitable bridgetrayal!
Bridges. They always be falling in the FFVII world.
Imagine Genesis Rhapsodos appearing in the next game to Redeem himself and Act as a True Hero by Fighting Against Sepiroth while being a playable character as well. That would be Fire 😎😎
“Feels so good to do good” Cait Sit says as they kick two other groups from their rooms
I bought Rebirth and am dying to play it, but my PS5 won't let me since it keeps crashing as soon as Cloud starts explaining Nibelheim in the very beginning. Truly, you're doing the Lord's work. Thank you so much!!
Oh! Junon innkeeper is a voice i know very well :) congrats man!
Oh now I’m definitely getting this game
Johnny speeding by on a segway, and not 10 seconds later, the title "Where's Johnny?" appearing on-screen is a combo I did NOT expect to see.
The chocobo theme goes hard
Aye!!!! I’m so excited to see this game!
Great. Now I'm depressed.
I had to sub the dedication and effort to edit this is amazing ❤️
Young Cloud remind me a lot of Zack, good old days playing crisis core on psp
Thanks for doing this! But I agree with some of the other comments.. the music is like 2 or 3db too loud.
As others have mentioned - thanks for making the effort of adding in-game cutscenes. I love the scope and care they've put into this game, but after 20 hours the mini-games have completely worn me out. The fun-per-minute ratio has become too low for me but I'm glad that many people seem to enjoy it.
I also felt they overdid it a bit with the number of minigames, the chicken one was the worst though
Love the Zelda references throughout the game. Got me weak 😂😂😂
Yours is definitely the better compilation I’ve seen so far, but I have a suggestion. Could you maybe turn the music down some in future compilations? I can barely hear the dialogue it’s so loud. I always have to tweak the sound before I play anything; this I played with music on 5 and voices on 10. It’s great editing otherwise!
Not trying to be mean but you can read the captions
That Johny squad is hillarious
21 hrs of cutscenes is pure insanity.
After seeing Aerith preform the "sending" dance, and what the weapons look like, I'm convinced that this and FFX are the same world in different points of time
Can't believe Like a Dragon and Rebirth was made in the Unreal Engine
