really appreciate the honesty in this review! OT stuff, especially arks 1-4, are the backbone of almost all my orchestral tracks and i absolutely love them and even don't mind sine that much, but i like the honesty about the player and it's shortcomings, since i think these observations will help OT pinpoint issues better and continue to fix their player. Ark 5 was also a bit underwhelming for me at first but the more i learn how to use the playable runs and the more i take advantage of the deeper dynamics in the shorts sampling it's really growing on me as a useful library
Thank you!
Thank you for the playthrough. I own Ark 1 - 4 and they definitely are among my most used orchestral libraries.
My pleasure!
As usual great overview. I DO like OT and the Sine player - as you say, for me too, is a bit different to navigate but I like it. I don't have a lot loaded at any one time so it's never crashed on my end. But then your setup is far more robust than mine. And again I don't overload it anyway. But I do like it. The only thing I have trouble with is all the switching of CCs to change articulations and such. But the instrumentation is nice. I don't have the ARK series - not into hybrid, trailer oriented stuff anyway. But these all do sound great - especially in Teldex studio space. It's why I have what I have from OT. And while it's literally out of my price range, I did bite the bullet and get the Berlin Orch compiled - the Berklee edition which is a nice library for me without having to get all the separate section stuff. There is quite enough for me in that library and while it too was expensive for me - all done at Teldex - it provides as much as I need at this point - I mean you know where I stand on that. And this ARK series - while nice, is not what I would likely ever use. But it is brilliant. Good overview.
Thanks Bill!
Thanks soo much for showing the FX sections most people gloss over them like its bread crust.
You are so welcome!
Nice!
Thanks!
5 finally 👀👀👀. Trully an end of era indeed
:)
I just got the flugelhorn patch this morning to try out with a song I'm composing. It was either that or the one from Ark 2 but this one sounded a lot warmer from the demos.
Awesome!
Hello thank you for a amazing video. Just gotta ask. Im currently thinking about getting Metropolis ark 1 or 5 but dont know which one to get. Ark 1 is a little more prizey and is older. But does it sound as good as ark 5? Would I get a better or just as good buy, but cheaper, if I bought ark 5? Sorry for my newb question. Cheers.
Hi! Ark 1 choir or this for a classical choir or this? Thank u for this reviews Christopher!
I love Ark 1 choirs!!
Wait, why your "String Orchestra Large" doesn't have the "+ Winds"? It does have that in the website. It is an error or something? Does it actually containts winds?
This guy has every sample library. Even the ones that haven't been produced yet.
This guy has no spitfire libraries (only just now got abbey road two).
That’s means he is missing out on the chamber strings (literally the best string library ever).
23:30 Dude same, sine player crashes my fl studio all the time.
:( Sorry to hear that!
Hi Chris would this work well with Nucleus together? Thinking this might be a good add on for me as my next step! Only own nucleus as my full orchestra library. What peaks my interest is the runs and the fx in ark 5 that gives flavourful sounds
I think it definitely could! Nucleus is slightly brighter overall and dryer, so with a little massaging it could work.
@@ChristopherSiu thanks for your answer :)
3:34 rogue Ab in the samples lol
XD
I like OT's samples, but I agree SINE isn't as stable as Kontakt yet. I find SINE also crashes Komplete Kontrol and doesn't support NKS like their Kontakt versions do.
Indeed!
Anyone have experience with this Ark 5 and Ableton?
Where is the link to the guide?
In the description! Here it is again: www.christophersiu.com/best-cinematic-orchestral-libraries
I thought they were about to announce a subscription model. Glad they didn’t. 🤣
Haha for sure!
@@ChristopherSiu LOL
No Kontakt version! I`m kind of sad...
Agree :(
0:15....was not 2011/2012....
They started in 2015 with ark1
I will tell you the truth as I always will... I enjoy your videos more, when you just play the music and don't think you need to explain everything...
Thanks!
Thanks for your honesty...that's my inner teacher coming out there! At least 80% of the video is playing thank goodness XD
@@ChristopherSiu You got it, you are a great musician!
