I own a record store, Oil Capital Vinyl in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I’d slowly upgraded to better and better copies of the original 6 LPs, some early or first pressings, some somewhat later repressings, but all were slightly flawed in some way. Last year, coincidentally around my own birthday, I saw on TH-cam, that AP once again had all 6 of their 45rpm reissues available, so I figured what the hell, and ordered all six. I’m so glad I did. While I’m admittedly not crazy about having to get up and change sides 3 times, I’m a huge Doors fan and honestly, these probably are the absolute best these records will ever sound. Also, the auditory highlights you mentioned are some of the things that stick out for me as well. Money well spent, in my opinion.

I agree! The doors, analogue production pressings are phenomenal!

Yep, got all of the AP 45rpm pressings as soon as I learned about them a couple years back. Before that, I tracked down some nice, somewhat minty OG pressings and still have those as well. I also have the VMP mono first album too... In my mid 30's, but been a _huge,_ lifelong Doors fan, thanks to my mom & uncle, so I _had_ to catch em all! 😎 I have a couple of the RSD releases too, but none of the other, newer digital stuff.. Analog for life baby! 🤙

Arthur Lee from Love suggested to Jac Holtzman at Elektra that he check out The Doors. Jac did & signed them on the spot. Good decision.

I have the AP 45 RPM pressings of the debut, Strange Days, Morrison Hotel and LA Woman. I found Strange Days to be the least impressive of the bunch. It has a shrill sound to it and lacks bass. Morrison Hotel and LA Woman sound Amazing! The debut holds a special place in my heart being the first rock album I’ve ever owned. I was underwhelmed by the sound of the AP 45 RPM of the debut. I was previously unaware of the whole safety tape issue but that certainly explains a lot! I heard the DCC pressing is the very best sounding press next to an original Monarch. So I bought the DCC and it arrives tomorrow. I can’t wait to do the A/B comparison! It was super expensive so I hope the hype is real

Nice video. I have a dcc cd of their first album but I prefer the 50th anniversary cd. Not into the mono lp. My stereo album I bought in the late 70’s while not highly detailed I prefer. The Soft Parade 50th anniversary lp is my second favorite of their releases. The sound is first rate. Bruce Botnick made great recordings. In college (early 80’s) we listened to Strange Days a lot because the dude only had a few records. Great album. I recently saw Robbie Krieger perform. What a thrill! Right before that I saw the Wild Child Doors tribute band, excellent as well and very authentic. They have Krieger’s guitar tech. Both of these concerts were better than listening to recordings if you have the opportunity.

Yes, grabbed them a year or so ago. I’d say they won’t be around for ever but who know anymore.
If the AP are a 10, what’s the Rhinos?
    Good video ✌️🎶

Hello, a question which version of the Doors is better from analogue productions, the one from 2012 or 2020. Thank you!!

I only have the A.P. version of L.A. Woman, but I have the mofi self titled. Does anyone know if the A.P. version of the self titled is better than the mofi one?

I've heard tell that it is, but can't say for sure myself, guess it truly depends on the individual

I haven’t heard the MOFI but I’d bet the AP sounds best. After the scandal, everyone seems to listen and compare and more often than not, MOFI is not as Great as thought. I think they got a pass with the “Hype” for a long time. The Miles Davis is holding up as the Best to be had. Who knows.

I don’t think the AS Doors albums are an upgrade. I used to own most of these, and sold most of them as I was able to get clean originals. The mono version of the debut absolutely kills the AS 45rpm, same with Strange Days mono OG, Soft Parade, Waiting for the Sun. I still have LA Woman and Morrison Hotel. The 45rpm also makes it a boring listen. Sorry, nothing like the OG’s
