Absolutely amazing lyrics and concept to create this album. Over 30 years listening to this and I’m still blown away of the brilliance of this album. Saw the movie in high school...totally awesome and I loved it. The visuals helped me to understand the songs, but I've always said you need to listen/experience the whole album. Individual songs are good but the album is an experience.
Same here man, my mom and I would sing this album together every road trip. I saw the movie with her when I was 5 or 6. Of course I had to close my eyes at certain parts but man I loved it. The dark cartoon segments were especially amazing to me. Thank you mom for giving me a love for such good music!
The drummer (Mason), bassist (Waters) and keyboard player (Wright) were all born during WW II in '43. Both guitarists (Barrett and Gilmour) were born in '46 after the war. They were little kids as England was putting itself back together.
When I was in high school in the early to mid 90s, I exclusively listened to rap (Ice Cube, Dre, Wu Tang, Cypress Hill, etc.). At age 15, I had a teacher that let me borrow this CD and he made me promise to listen to the whole thing. That weekend, I reluctantly hit play and my life changed. That is not hyperbole, this album changed me as a person and how I saw the world. I was hanging on every note and word, wondering where they were taking me. I have never had anything like that happen before or since and I am in my mid 40s now. When you said that you had a long way to go to get to the end but you didn't want it to end...I had the same thought the first time listening to it. I ended up playing the album from start to finish close to a dozen times that weekend and begged my mother to take me to the music store...because I am old and we did not have internet or digital music. We did not have a lot of money so she would not let me spend $30 on a double CD that I had just heard. I begged the teacher to let me hold on to it until I could buy the CD for myself, which he did. I played it so many times over the next week and begged relentless to let me buy it, so she finally gave in and took me to the mall. I was so happy finding it in the store and buying it, it felt like I had just obtained a priceless treasure. I still have that same CD 29 years later and still listen to if at least once a week from start to finish. While I think Dark Side of the Moon is their best and most artistic album, The Wall is what spoke to me and changed my life. I enjoy seeing other people enjoy all different types of music and have their own moments like I had. Watching your video took me back almost 30 years and reminded me of my experience.

@MrWishud I'm the same age the same feeling. My first time Floyd experience was a hit of real orange sunshine and pioneer headphones listening to the Umma Gumma album. Changed the way my brain was wired that day. I cn still pictur3 most of that day and night vividly.
First off, you straight up crushed this little brother. I've loved Pink Floyd all my life, this came out when I was 19 and it's as amazing now as it was then and it'll be there for you when you're old and rusty like me. I almost bailed when I saw you were editing it but you didn't ruin the flow (much). You kept saying it was "like a movie". Dude there IS a movie! 1982, "The Wall" and it's glorious. Check it out, it's just the album wonderfully brought to life and everything fits perfectly. You'll be amazed and glad you watched it. The movie will help it all make sense. @@KingAhmadTv I would hold off on the movie just yet. Pink Floyd, I believe…just as their previous album (DSOTM), meant for the album to be taken in as one continuous piece. My advice is to lay back with the headphones (ear buds) and listen at least twice through. Both DSOTM and the wall are meant to be looped to express the continuation of the the cycle….that’s why the same sound is attached to the beginning and end each album, respectively. Once you feel you have a pretty good grasp of the story…then watch the movie. If you partake…the movie is best enjoyed whilst slanted….js
@@jrag9435 A friend of mine tried to watch the movie on 3 hits of acid. He ended up locked in the bathroom for 5 hours after the blue sky segment. I tried to warn him the movie is way to dark for that but he wouldn't listen, he thought it would bring it to life. Don't get me wrong, they have albums that are great to listen to while tripping but the wall isn't one of them
@@joewilson2929 I too was 19 when this movie came out, not that it makes a difference but I'm a black man that grew up on the south side of Chicago so I didn't grow up on rock and roll music I grew up on Soul Train, Motown, James Brown and music of that sort... I'll never ever forget this I was out on a date and we wanted to go see Friday the 13th Part 3 however it had sold out, I was disappointed because I knew she would be scared and want to be close to me hugging her holding hands Etc, being disappointed that they sold out however we decided to go see a double feature movie that was going to be playing within 10 minutes the movies were the class of 1984 (which is the one that caught our attention that we really wanted to see) and the other movie was called Pink Floyd The Wall, I had no clue what it was all about but since we were there we decided to watch them both.. From the introduction to the very first song played I was totally captured and a huge fan. The very next day I went to the store and bought the cassette I played that cassette every time I got into the car I learned it I memorized it I played it so much it wore out I bought another that wore out also, to make a long story short I think I purchased at least five or six Pink Floyd cassettes and or CDs.. when my buddies were in the car and I played Floyd they would say man what is this white boy music you're playing I said just relax and listen to it we would be high off weed and I tell you every last one of them to this day is hooked on Pink Floyd especially after I took them to go see the movie The Wall.. It's a toss up between Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin being the greatest bands, Led Zeppelin may be the greatest band but Pink Floyd is my favorite and vice versa🤣🤣 oh and for the record this is an honest to Goodness true story... anyone that hears Pink Floyd for the first time will be moved captivated and hooked for life💯💪🏿💥💥💥💥💥💥

Next the movie, and then The Wall Live from Berlin, then The Wall Live Amsterdam 2013 has occupied my #1 spot for 10yrs solid. Mind blowing shit on the biggest stage imaginable. A really wide gaming screen would be an nuts. All are great and capable of sending you to a different level altogether, unlike 2013 Amsterdam, seems to be my go to Wall of choice for the last 10yrs. Maybe I've finally peeked .
He truly is. He and the band doesn't have yet the recognition in history of music they deserve, even being one of the most known rock bands ever. Watching people from other music background witnessing them (and others from the same time) for the first time became my favorite sport

I don't know why it's so entertaining to watch people listen to the music I love for the first time. I guess it's like listening for the first time yourself. But I'm glad a new generation can appreciate Pink Floyd. This stuff is my the soundtrack to my formative years.

The Wall track by track: Track 1 : pink as narrator, telling you what's to come 2: birth and still narration on regret 3: father dies during ww2, feels abandoned first "bricks" building his wall of isolation from everyone 4: teacher picks on him in school 5: fantasy from school age pink about standing up to abusive teachers.... more bricks in the wall of isolation 6: smothering mother more bricks 7: growing isolation during the cold war 8: marriage starting to implode... more bricks 9: cheats on wife with groupie trying to connect...... phone call to wife but her boyfriend keeps hanging up 10: depression and anger .... completing his isolation to the world 11: very dark, admits to abusing his wife.... more depressed 12: anger, fuck her, fuck everyone you're all bricks in his wall 13: everyone thinks its about suicide.... but no.... its his wall of isolation complete... live has an extra track to complete building the wall on stage 14: crying for help, from inside his wall of isolation. Can't connect with anyone anymore..realizes the wall he built was too big to get over... (worms ate into his brain = went crazy)...my favorite track 15: crying out for help 16: acceptance of the end of his marriage, drug abuse as self medication from the isolation... Starting to go mad 17:Vera Lynne was a pop singer during ww2. Her hit was Some Sunny Day.....remembrance of losing his father..... more madness, as reality starts to fade 18: a plea to keep other fathers from being killed and not coming home. More reality fades 19: doesn't really fit the album theme.... this was written in 1977 before a performance. He was sick and this describes his feelings when a "doctor" injects him with something "to get through the show"..... the most recognizable PF song. 20: delusional realization that everything and everyone he loved, hurt him, but he must continue down this path 21: pink as neo Nazi. And narrator again...his father fought Nazis but died..... rebels against everything and everyone good in his life madness has taken over..... pink is no longer here... he stayed back at the hotel.... from here to the end of the album, I believe it's all in his head.... all delusion, based on his isolation. Has a breakdown. 22: more neo Nazi delusions fighting off reality.....about running from emotions too.... more about madness 23: worms again.... following the (worms) crazy. all about madness and delusions of grandeur...his isolation has made him crazy... still in rebel neo Nazi mode. 24: realizes that all his attempts to avoid emotions and the damages done to him were futile 25: puts himself on trial for his own sanity...... forced to "tear down the wall" leaving him naked in front of everyone. 26: picking up the pieces, but also showing that it starts over, in an unending cycle of hurt, isolation and breakdown...... Originally it was supposed to be a big fuck you to fans who wouldn't give them any peace and forced him to retreat from fans and be a dick..... turned into a life story of Roger waters.

track 19 has the famous line "That'll keep you going through the show come on it's time to go' is about a show which I attended in Philadelphia Pa. in the summer of 1977 in which Waters had severe cramping issues that he thought would cancel the show. A doctor gave him a shot to relax the cramping. it worked so well it made it so he could barely raise his arm above his knee. it was noticeable through the whole show and was bad enough that they couldn't do an encore which normally they would have. But no matter what they were EXCELLENT as usual.

This album proves that just because a record is by far the best known, and most played (on the radio) album of a band does not mean it can't also be genuinely magnificent. Best enjoyed with high fidelity headphones in a fat chair and a dark room. Worth listening to all at once, and multiple times in a row. Great.

When I first got the album on vinyl I realized that little tune at the end is the same as the beginning, and if you listen very closely he says "Isn't this where-" at the end, and then "we came in?" At the beginning, this whole album is just an unfathomable level of artistry
great reaction. it's so good to see you young guys loving PF. you call it art, and you're not the first, but the music industry has never given these guys the recognition they deserve. so happy to see you all calling it for what it is; something separate from everything else. something special. something unique that stands out from all other music. i'm 63 and became a fan in '73, when they bought out dark side of the moon. i still listen to them, and Gilmour's solo stuff, almost every day. have you heard Echoes yet? it's a 21 minute song from the album, meddle. watch the live at Pompeii version. you'll get an idea of what they were like in the early times. it's a truly beautiful work of musical art. after 'the Wall' it changes. Roger leaves and the concept albums end. but it's beautiful. Division Bell is my favourite album. enjoy it all.
Very honest and feeling reaction, Ahmad. The 70's truly were years of open musical expression with opportunity for experimentation and stretching out artistically. This was one of the last outputs in my opinion that ignored convention and did not follow a formula simply to gain attention other than exactly what we just witnessed through you. I was in the seventh grade 1980 when visiting a friend's house, he said, "sit down here. You have to listen to this." He handed me the album, opened to the lyrics, and dropped the needle on the edge of track 1. My world opened up. Stay honest, man. This was a joy to see, took me back...
I loved watching you listen to this masterpiece. It is enjoyable to watch someone to hear and understand the complexity of it. I was 7 years old when this album was released. Hearing it as a child, teenager, young adult, and older adult I found myself finding different meanings that apply to current life. I love that you’re taking in the whole album. There’s a ton to work through. I discovered it at 12 and it sent me on a life journey trying to understand how people work and how we get lost, how to get redeemed. One track that didn’t make the album but was in the movie that I think really matters in the story is When the Tigers Broke Free, about how his dads company was ordered to hold a bridge against a bunch of German Tiger Tanks. A hopeless assignment that wiped out the whole company. Pink finds a letter from the King acknowledging his father’s service and death…” Signed with his own RUBBER STAMP.” That’ll rip at your heart strings.
I listed to this album in the summer of 79 when I was a kid, I’m still listening to it nearly 43 years later …their music never grew old to me, still love them.

It starts from there, & goes through the rest of his life. He grows up to become a Rock Star, & that doesn’t help his painful upbringing at all. He turns to alcohol & drugs to cope... only to steadily slide into insanity. It was loosely based on their original lead singer, Syd Barrett.
I'm in my 50s, and this album was introduced to me when I was a teenager. you will find as you continue to listen to this masterpiece over the years, that songs will have more meaning to them, and it sort of grows with you. I loved your reaction; it's gratifying to see someone your age get their genius. I hope since then you have experienced the movie.
True. It's one of those things where you understand what the song is about when you're young but sometimes you get older and you just feel it more. It's like the difference between experiencing the death of a loved one vs reading about it. You can read about it all you want to be that just isn't the same.

Dark Side of the Moon was like the top album worldwide for14 years. The Wall wasup there, also, but Dark Side was bigger. Since you told us you are 19, I will tell you I am 66, and I saw Pink Floyd live every time they came to our city (Vancouver, Canada) The first time was late 60s but mostly the 70s they would make new album then tour it. I have been to literally hundreds of concerts all types music from folk to jazz, but mainly Rock n Roll. If I had ro pick the best band/ concert it would be Pink Floyd. I saw them early 70s and a British band opened for them called Jethro Tull, I had never heard of them. Pink Floyd invited them to open for them, and I became an instant Fan on the band with the lead singer who played a rock n roll Flute. They were so good I saw them 4 or 5 more times, bought every album. Bit I am glad you got turned onto Pink Floyd. All their music is great. I watched your whole video, first time. I will watch again. I can't see Pink Floyd as a band now as they broke up, but I have still gone to the concerts of Roger Waters(bass) and my favorite singer and guitarist David Gilmour, who toured with the remaining two original members a few times over the years. They are one of a few bands that sound as good live as on record. I grew up in a great time for rock n roll music through the great 70s , 80s, early 90s. I have 2 grown sons who heard their music as I played it everyday as they grew up. They used to say their friends said I was a cool Mom, because I played rock n roll on the car radio. I still love Rock and roll. All kinds of bands. Sadly some have broken up and don't play now, but I have over 400 LPS, CDs that I play still. I married a jazz musician when I was 17, a d I did back up singing for bands on the west coast mainly. So, I do know my music. Hope you continue to listen and appreciate the best of music. I know the modern bands, singers and flappers, too. I do keep up, but my music Of my teens, 20s 30s are some of the nest. Cheers!

I can't even begin to tell you how much this album affected my life. I listened to it over and over when I was a teenager and still to this day. It has brought out alot of emotions in me and also demons. No other band or artist has touched my emotions like Pink Floyd has! They can take you from an upbeat song and the very next song makes you think about life lol. Especially this album. It helps to watch the movie or at least know the history behind these songs

I know this sounds so dumb, but…… I was really upset when I first saw a photo of Pink Floyd. They were real people, playing instruments!. I never gave it much though and just thought someone had pegged down the cds from heaven. 😂

I was 18 when this album came out and 42 years later I feel the same way you are feeling now EVERY SINGLE TIME I LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM, and I have listened to it countless times and I will keep on listening to it to the day I die. I am not laughing! I am smiling from ear to ear. All I ask is for you to share this experience with all your friends. This is the greatest album ever created. Pass it on young man. Keep it alive. I highly suggest you watch the movie and watch the live performance from Earls Court in 1980 and the live performance of a Roger Waters tour in 2010.
You without a doubt have the greatest Pink Floyd reaction on TH-cam sir. You're 1 year younger than me too man. Listened religiously to Floyd (this album the most) for 12 years now. I don't know if modern contemporary music has gotten deeper than this sadly. It's a special record.
The greatest album ever!! I'm 56 and grew up on this. It's like going to every funeral, wedding, birthday, celebration, party rolled into one and then, being at your best friends deathbed! The emotion is poignant. This masterpiece will never be duplicated and no current band could ever do this ever again!
I just watched your reaction and it had the effect on me when it came out in 1979. I was 16 at the time. I hadn't listened to the whole album since about 82 in college. I was still able to sing along with every song and enjoy it again as much as you enjoyed it. At 59 I too get emotional listening to it. Gilmour can play a guitar with more emotion than anyone. Brilliant bravo this is the only way to listen to any of these songs because it’s one story. The first time I listened to,this album it was like hearing nothing like it before. The story that I was hearing was painting a vivid images I’m my mind unlike nothing before. Bravo my man bravo! Thank you once again for tanking through a journey with this awesome piece of music!
I saw this live in concert 1980...LA. It was so true to the album that I thought the band was lip syncing. They actually acted out the album by doing scenes like a play and building a wall on the stage. Gillmor was standing on the wall doing his comfortably numb solo under a spotlight. Epic.
It was more like a musical play with props than a concert. They only played New York and LA because, I guess, it was too big of a production to take on a full tour. I will never forget that concert!
"The Wall Live in Berlin", is an all star performance, on the actual streets of Berlin. It's well worth your time whether you react to it or not. I glad you got enjoy this modern opera. I was 15 when it came out, and it changed my life.
I actually went to that concert on potzdammer. One of my friends actually got one of the bricks and drove it all the way back to Liverpool it’s still his prized possession 😂

OK so. This album actively changed my life. Getting out of The Wall on your own isn't very easy, but it's possible. My focus is going to be making sure I don't put my own kids into walls.
It's interesting, when I first heard this album as a shy 17 year old vs now as a 40 year old I definitely feel like I'm looking at the wall from the other side.

Watching you react to this album....an album that means so much to me personally....has changed it for me again. My mom was a huge PF fan. I grew up as a kid singing these songs. I remember the day I realized that Comfortably Numb was about drugs, haha (thanks, DARE) Then I grew older, my mom was an alcoholic. My dad was an abuser and I was put in the custody of my sister. Even though I knew the words, I HEARD the words. I felt every chord of pain. Disc 2 is something I'll cherish forever. My mom got sober when I was 18, and died of cancer 7 years later. Anyway.... watching you react to it today gave it another piece of beauty for me that I'll never forget. Thank you.
Great reaction. Many are often too intimidated to experience The Floyd, as they can get really deep. No disparate one-track pop love songs for them. It’s all concept. Every “track” is actually a continuation of the story. Most newbies will not get it because the digitally remastered albums break up the tracks. If you were to listen to the original LP (record), you’d notice that there are absolutely NO breaks in the entire album. All the songs flow into the next. Same with just about all Pink Floyd albums.
I see these reaction videos and I can't help but be a little envious. I would love to be able to listen to "The Wall" for the first time again. That record changed me forever when I was 14 - which was a long ass time ago!
Not sure how I stumbled on this video, but I fn love this guy, he has an adventurous open mind. When I was 13 hearing this album for the first time it changed my world. What I get from this video is that we are all so biased by society and peers, race and age division, that their music sucks, and vice versa. The world needs more people to follow their own paths and explore whats out there. Im an old man, grandfather, but have found some amazing music is always out there, new or old. This album is legendary. Keep doing what you're doing, you are a smart man.
I was 18 when I first heard it, just after it came out. At 19, you have a whole lifetime with it now. They made a movie of it, and it makes a lot of what was going on more clear.
I can remember this like it was yesterday. Waiting in line in Manhattan to buy this album. I had heard Another Brick in the Wall, Comfortably numb and Hey you. My experience was pretty much the same as Ahmad's. I don't think I left my room for a week. Just listened to this back to back over and over till I knew every word, every lick. Couldn't believe Floyd did it again

I was only five-years-old when I first was the film, entirely too young, I could not comprehend it at the time...but...I'm glad I saw it when I did.
I've watched it quite a few times for the last 35 years or so. Certain scenes in it always bring me to tears. The pain is excruciating.
Saw the movie in high school...totally awesome and I loved it. The visuals helped me to understand the songs, but I've always said you need to listen/experience the whole album. Individual songs are good but the album is an experience.

Same here man, my mom and I would sing this album together every road trip. I saw the movie with her when I was 5 or 6. Of course I had to close my eyes at certain parts but man I loved it. The dark cartoon segments were especially amazing to me. Thank you mom for giving me a love for such good music!
The drummer (Mason), bassist (Waters) and keyboard player (Wright) were all born during WW II in '43. Both guitarists (Barrett and Gilmour) were born in '46 after the war. They were little kids as England was putting itself back together.
When I was in high school in the early to mid 90s, I exclusively listened to rap (Ice Cube, Dre, Wu Tang, Cypress Hill, etc.). At age 15, I had a teacher that let me borrow this CD and he made me promise to listen to the whole thing. That weekend, I reluctantly hit play and my life changed. That is not hyperbole, this album changed me as a person and how I saw the world. I was hanging on every note and word, wondering where they were taking me. I have never had anything like that happen before or since and I am in my mid 40s now. When you said that you had a long way to go to get to the end but you didn't want it to end...I had the same thought the first time listening to it. I ended up playing the album from start to finish close to a dozen times that weekend and begged my mother to take me to the music store...because I am old and we did not have internet or digital music. We did not have a lot of money so she would not let me spend $30 on a double CD that I had just heard. I begged the teacher to let me hold on to it until I could buy the CD for myself, which he did. I played it so many times over the next week and begged relentless to let me buy it, so she finally gave in and took me to the mall. I was so happy finding it in the store and buying it, it felt like I had just obtained a priceless treasure. I still have that same CD 29 years later and still listen to if at least once a week from start to finish. While I think Dark Side of the Moon is their best and most artistic album, The Wall is what spoke to me and changed my life. I enjoy seeing other people enjoy all different types of music and have their own moments like I had. Watching your video took me back almost 30 years and reminded me of my experience.

I've loved Pink Floyd all my life, this came out when I was 19 and it's as amazing now as it was then and it'll be there for you when you're old and rusty like me. I almost bailed when I saw you were editing it but you didn't ruin the flow (much). You kept saying it was "like a movie". Dude there IS a movie! 1982, "The Wall" and it's glorious. Check it out, it's just the album wonderfully brought to life and everything fits perfectly. You'll be amazed and glad you watched it. The movie will help it all make sense. @@KingAhmadTv I would hold off on the movie just yet. Pink Floyd, I believe…just as their previous album (DSOTM), meant for the album to be taken in as one continuous piece. My advice is to lay back with the headphones (ear buds) and listen at least twice through. Both DSOTM and the wall are meant to be looped to express the continuation of the the cycle….that’s why the same sound is attached to the beginning and end each album, respectively. Once you feel you have a pretty good grasp of the story…then watch the movie. If you partake…the movie is best enjoyed whilst slanted….js
@@jrag9435 A friend of mine tried to watch the movie on 3 hits of acid. He ended up locked in the bathroom for 5 hours after the blue sky segment. I tried to warn him the movie is way to dark for that but he wouldn't listen, he thought it would bring it to life. Don't get me wrong, they have albums that are great to listen to while tripping but the wall isn't one of them

I'll never ever forget this I was out on a date and we wanted to go see Friday the 13th Part 3 however it had sold out, I was disappointed because I knew she would be scared and want to be close to me hugging her holding hands Etc, being disappointed that they sold out however we decided to go see a double feature movie that was going to be playing within 10 minutes the movies were the class of 1984 (which is the one that caught our attention that we really wanted to see) and the other movie was called Pink Floyd The Wall, I had no clue what it was all about but since we were there we decided to watch them both..
From the introduction to the very first song played I was totally captured and a huge fan. The very next day I went to the store and bought the cassette I played that cassette every time I got into the car I learned it I memorized it I played it so much it wore out I bought another that wore out also, to make a long story short I think I purchased at least five or six Pink Floyd cassettes and or CDs.. when my buddies were in the car and I played Floyd they would say man what is this white boy music you're playing I said just relax and listen to it we would be high off weed and I tell you every last one of them to this day is hooked on Pink Floyd especially after I took them to go see the movie The Wall..

Next the movie, and then The Wall Live from Berlin, then The Wall Live Amsterdam 2013 has occupied my #1 spot for 10yrs solid. Mind blowing shit on the biggest stage imaginable. A really wide gaming screen would be an nuts. All are great and capable of sending you to a different level altogether, unlike 2013 Amsterdam, seems to be my go to Wall of choice for the last 10yrs. Mind blowing fact: The ending of the very last song on the album ties in seamlessly with the beginning of the very first song. So basically the album could be played on an infinite loop. Eternal art that goes beyond music. From birth to death, lessons learned, repeat.

The most amazing thing about really good music is that it can reach out through the decades (even hundreds of years) and fing it's way to someone and speak their truth as if it was written yesterday. On a side note I sat and watched you get your mind blown and it was epic.

Originally it was supposed to be a big fuck you to fans who wouldn't give them any peace and forced him to retreat from fans and be a dick..... turned into a life story of Roger waters.

track 19 has the famous line "That'll keep you going through the show come on it's time to go' is about a show which I attended in Philadelphia Pa. in the summer of 1977 in which Waters had severe cramping issues that he thought would cancel the show. A doctor gave him a shot to relax the cramping. it worked so well it made it so he could barely raise his arm above his knee. it was noticeable through the whole show and was bad enough that they couldn't do an encore which normally they would have. But no matter what they were EXCELLENT as usual.

This album proves that just because a record is by far the best known, and most played (on the radio) album of a band does not mean it can't also be genuinely magnificent. Best enjoyed with high fidelity headphones in a fat chair and a dark room. Worth listening to all at once, and multiple times in a row. Great.

When I first got the album on vinyl I realized that little tune at the end is the same as the beginning, and if you listen very closely he says "Isn't this where-" at the end, and then "we came in?" At the beginning, this whole album is just an unfathomable level of artistry
great reaction. it's so good to see you young guys loving PF. you call it art, and you're not the first, but the music industry has never given these guys the recognition they deserve. so happy to see you all calling it for what it is; something separate from everything else. something special. something unique that stands out from all other music. i'm 63 and became a fan in '73, when they bought out dark side of the moon. i still listen to them, and Gilmour's solo stuff, almost every day. have you heard Echoes yet? it's a 21 minute song from the album, meddle. watch the live at Pompeii version. you'll get an idea of what they were like in the early times. it's a truly beautiful work of musical art. after 'the Wall' it changes. Roger leaves and the concept albums end. but it's beautiful. Division Bell is my favourite album. enjoy it all.
Very honest and feeling reaction, Ahmad. The 70's truly were years of open musical expression with opportunity for experimentation and stretching out artistically. This was one of the last outputs in my opinion that ignored convention and did not follow a formula simply to gain attention other than exactly what we just witnessed through you.
I was in the seventh grade 1980 when visiting a friend's house, he said, "sit down here. You have to listen to this." He handed me the album, opened to the lyrics, and dropped the needle on the edge of track 1. My world opened up.

Hearing it as a child, teenager, young adult, and older adult I found myself finding different meanings that apply to current life. There’s a ton to work through. I discovered it at 12 and it sent me on a life journey trying to understand how people work and how we get lost, how to get redeemed.
One track that didn’t make the album but was in the movie that I think really matters in the story is When the Tigers Broke Free, about how his dads company was ordered to hold a bridge against a bunch of German Tiger Tanks.
A hopeless assignment that wiped out the whole company. Pink finds a letter from the King acknowledging his father’s service and death…” Signed with his own RUBBER STAMP.”
That’ll rip at your heart strings.
That song was later incorporated into the re-mastered newer version of "The Final Cut". :-) By itself worth listening to and highly underrated.

I listed to this album in the summer of 79 when I was a kid, I’m still listening to it nearly 43 years later …their music never grew old to me, still love them.

It starts from there, & goes through the rest of his life. He grows up to become a Rock Star, & that doesn’t help his painful upbringing at all. He turns to alcohol & drugs to cope... only to steadily slide into insanity. It was loosely based on their original lead singer, Syd Barrett.

I'm in my 50s, and this album was introduced to me when I was a teenager. you will find as you continue to listen to this masterpiece over the years, that songs will have more meaning to them, and it sort of grows with you. True. It's one of those things where you understand what the song is about when you're young but sometimes you get older and you just feel it more. It's like the difference between experiencing the death of a loved one vs reading about it. You can read about it all you want to be that just isn't the same.

Dark Side of the Moon was like the top album worldwide for14 years. The Wall wasup there, also, but Dark Side was bigger. Since you told us you are 19, I will tell you I am 66, and I saw Pink Floyd live every time they came to our city (Vancouver, Canada) The first time was late 60s but mostly the 70s they would make new album then tour it.
I have been to literally hundreds of concerts all types music from folk to jazz, but mainly Rock n Roll.
If I had ro pick the best band/ concert it would be Pink Floyd. I saw them early 70s and a British band opened for them called Jethro Tull, I had never heard of them. Pink Floyd invited them to open for them, and I became an instant Fan on the band with the lead singer who played a rock n roll Flute. They were so good I saw them 4 or 5 more times, bought every album. Bit I am glad you got turned onto Pink Floyd. All their music is great. I watched your whole video, first time. I will watch again. I can't see Pink Floyd as a band now as they broke up, but I have still gone to the concerts of Roger Waters(bass) and my favorite singer and guitarist David Gilmour, who toured with the remaining two original members a few times over the years. They are one of a few bands that sound as good live as on record. I grew up in a great time for rock n roll music through the great 70s , 80s,
early 90s. I have 2 grown sons who heard their music as I played it everyday as they grew up. They used to say their friends said I was a cool Mom, because I played rock n roll on the car radio.
I still love Rock and roll. All kinds of bands. Sadly some have broken up and don't play now, but I have over 400
LPS, CDs that I play still.
I married a jazz musician when I was 17, a d I did back up singing for bands on the west coast mainly. So, I do know my music. Hope you continue to listen and appreciate the best of music. I know the modern bands, singers and flappers, too. I do keep up, but my music Of my teens, 20s 30s are some of the nest. Cheers!

I listened to this album for the first time in Jan 2022 and it made me cry too. It really impacted me and now it’s one of my all-time favorites. I’m working my way thru your reaction video and I felt the same way on some of these tracks, thanks for sharing

I can't even begin to tell you how much this album affected my life. I listened to it over and over when I was a teenager and still to this day. It has brought out alot of emotions in me and also demons. No other band or artist has touched my emotions like Pink Floyd has! They can take you from an upbeat song and the very next song makes you think about life lol. Especially this album. It helps to watch the movie or at least know the history behind these songs

I know this sounds so dumb, but…… I was really upset when I first saw a photo of Pink Floyd. They were real people, playing instruments!. I never gave it much though and just thought someone had pegged down the cds from heaven. 😂

I was 18 when this album came out and 42 years later I feel the same way you are feeling now EVERY SINGLE TIME I LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM, and I have listened to it countless times and I will keep on listening to it to the day I die. I am not laughing! I am smiling from ear to ear. All I ask is for you to share this experience with all your friends. This is the greatest album ever created. Pass it on young man. Keep it alive. I highly suggest you watch the movie and watch the live performance from Earls Court in 1980 and the live performance of a Roger Waters tour in 2010.

You without a doubt have the greatest Pink Floyd reaction on TH-cam sir. You're 1 year younger than me too man. Listened religiously to Floyd (this album the most) for 12 years now. I don't know if modern contemporary music has gotten deeper than this sadly. It's a special record.
The greatest album ever!! I'm 56 and grew up on this. It's like going to every funeral, wedding, birthday, celebration, party rolled into one and then, being at your best friends deathbed! The emotion is poignant. This masterpiece will never be duplicated and no current band could ever do this ever again!
I just watched your reaction and it had the effect on me when it came out in 1979. I was 16 at the time. I hadn't listened to the whole album since about 82 in college. I was still able to sing along with every song and enjoy it again as much as you enjoyed it. At 59 I too get emotional listening to it. Gilmour can play a guitar with more emotion than anyone. Brilliant bravo this is the only way to listen to any of these songs because it’s one story. The first time I listened to,this album it was like hearing nothing like it before. The story that I was hearing was painting a vivid images I’m my mind unlike nothing before. Bravo my man bravo! Thank you once again for tanking through a journey with this awesome piece of music!

I saw this live in concert 1980...LA. It was so true to the album that I thought the band was lip syncing. They actually acted out the album by doing scenes like a play and building a wall on the stage. Gillmor was standing on the wall doing his comfortably numb solo under a spotlight. Epic.
Color me jealous, one of those performances I wanted to catch at the time.

It was more like a musical play with props than a concert. They only played New York and LA because, I guess, it was too big of a production to take on a full tour. I will never forget that concert!
"The Wall Live in Berlin", is an all star performance, on the actual streets of Berlin. It's well worth your time whether you react to it or not. I glad you got enjoy this modern opera. I was 15 when it came out, and it changed my life.
I actually went to that concert on potzdammer. One of my friends actually got one of the bricks and drove it all the way back to Liverpool it’s still his prized possession 😂

This album actively changed my life. Getting out of The Wall on your own isn't very easy, but it's possible.
My focus is going to be making sure I don't put my own kids into walls.
It's interesting, when I first heard this album as a shy 17 year old vs now as a 40 year old I definitely feel like I'm looking at the wall from the other side.
I saw it live twice. Opening and closing nights at the Los Angeles Sports arena. 1980. Best concert I ever saw. 😀👍

My mom was a huge PF fan. I grew up as a kid singing these songs. I remember the day I realized that Comfortably Numb was about drugs, haha (thanks, DARE)
Then I grew older, my mom was an alcoholic. My dad was an abuser and I was put in the custody of my sister. Even though I knew the words, I HEARD the words. I felt every chord of pain. Disc 2 is something I'll cherish forever.
My mom got sober when I was 18, and died of cancer 7 years later.
Anyway.... watching you react to it today gave it another piece of beauty for me that I'll never forget. Thank you.

Great reaction. Many are often too intimidated to experience The Floyd, as they can get really deep. No disparate one-track pop love songs for them. It’s all concept. Every “track” is actually a continuation of the story. Most newbies will not get it because the digitally remastered albums break up the tracks. If you were to listen to the original LP (record), you’d notice that there are absolutely NO breaks in the entire album. All the songs flow into the next. Same with just about all Pink Floyd albums.

I see these reaction videos and I can't help but be a little envious. I would love to be able to listen to "The Wall" for the first time again. That record changed me forever when I was 14 - which was a long ass time ago!
Not sure how I stumbled on this video, but I fn love this guy, he has an adventurous open mind. When I was 13 hearing this album for the first time it changed my world. What I get from this video is that we are all so biased by society and peers, race and age division, that their music sucks, and vice versa. The world needs more people to follow their own paths and explore whats out there. Im an old man, grandfather, but have found some amazing music is always out there, new or old. This album is legendary. Keep doing what you're doing, you are a smart man.

I can remember this like it was yesterday. Waiting in line in Manhattan to buy this album. I had heard Another Brick in the Wall, Comfortably numb and Hey you. My experience was pretty much the same as Ahmad's. I don't think I left my room for a week. Just listened to this back to back over and over till I knew every word, every lick. Couldn't believe Floyd did it again
