I'm with you, I enjoy the building process so I'm not too bothered if the results are not visible in the finished model. I have had a problem with spayed Vallejo Air Colour. I used it airbrushed over Mr Surfacer 1200 Grey and it had virtually zero adhesion to the primer. It may have been my application at fault, but it looked great initially - it just did not stand up to handling or the least abrasion. I think that I will stick to Tamiya in future; it's a bit of a bind using special thinner, but being resin based I think that it's a bit more robust. I have used Micro Set and Micro Sol and think that they do a really good job, but I have had one issue: I put down quite a large transfer over a gloss varnish base, and, although the transfer settled well with just the Micro Set, I decided to give it a coat of Micro Sol for good measure. All went well until I rubbed over the transfer with a cotton bud quite firmly to finally bed it down. The transfer was fine, but the rubbing brought out some of the adhesive from beneath it, which made a bit of a mess, which I couldn't clean up without risk to the transfer or paint. Lesson learnt, in future if I use a solvent on transfers I will only dab off any surplus gently and allow it to do its work. The model was an Italeri a few years old, and the issue may not arise with other manufacturers transfers. Best wishes.
Fantastic information thank you.. btw I have been spraying Tamiya for a while using isopropyl alcohol 50% to thin and it works like a dream.. much cheaper too! Thanks for watching 🙏
Lead shot ballast for model boats is excellent for weighting noses, and very economical. Similar to liquid gravity, but much cheaper! Got a kilo from eBay for £11 delivered.
Really nice build, the silver finish looks great. In answer to your paint question I use mainly Vallejo Air and will use Tamiya if I need it to dry quickly. Have also used Revell aqua and Humbrol, Revell is very thick and requires a lot of thinning for airbrush use. Humbrol have a great range of colours but can be a big hit and miss. Mr Surfacer for primer. I use Micro Sol and set and also have Tamiya Mark Fit for decals but tbh I’ve been using paint masks to airbrush markings recently which is very satisfying.
@@lowrentrick There is much more: Also ask google about: Focke Wulf Ta 183, Heinkel P1073 (which was later the Heinkel 162), Messerschmitt P 1101 and P 1092, Lippisch Delta VI, Horten and so on. All modern Fighter Jets have their roots in german science and projectts from 1944/45. A lot of info is available and I bet a "Jesus Christ" will come over your lips seeing all that stuff.
Hiya.. for enamels I thin with white Spirit, IPA for Tamiya and good old water for Vallejo.. I'm all about the cheap hack.. usually no need to spend a fortune!!
Nice build for a nice kit !
Thank you.. it is a really good kit

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your knowledge, it really helps me out. And thanks for watching.. might try the mask method myself!
Actually it is the Focke Wulf "Flitzer" rebuild by de Havilland.
I did not know that! I’ll look into it, thank you for watching and for the information 👍

I just got the Vallejo satin varnish to try, what do you use to thin it for airbrushing. I love Vallejo paints, especially the sets.
Hiya.. I use straight tap water to thin all Vallejo stuff.. one big reason I too love the stuff so much
@lowrentrick that's why I like Vallejo. No fuss clean ups and you can't complain about the flowery smell after airbrushing lol.

Is there a reason why you use IPA to thin your paint? It's cheap as chips compared with 'proper ' thinners.
