  • Dogs are biologically designed to eat raw meat.
    We have been feeding Zazu and Walle a raw food diet for a couple of months now. There is just so much information out there! We only want the best for our babies and continue to update and improve their diet.
    From all the research we have done on raw food diets it has always proved to have done wonders for a dogs overall health.
    Some benefits are healthy skin, shiny coats, cleaner teeth, higher energy levels, smaller stools.

      So you say that you have to wash your hands afteer handling the raw meat... even wash he floor where they eat... but what about the dogs themselves? Do you have to wash them after each meal so they dont spread bacteria?? O_o
      All that raw goodness is now smeared across their faced and paws.. after all

      I would recommend using perfectlyrawsomes calculator. It gives you the amounts of liver, muscle meat, other organ, and edible bone. I use it for my gsd pup and while she isn't nearly as big as your pup but it still works really well. Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions let me know.

      Right now my puppy is in the beginning stages of starting raw so we are using chicken. It's important to look at your dogs size to determine which bones they should eat.

    Still can not understand how people believe that processed kibble is better for your dog than this balanced meal. I am a vegan myself but I believe that dogs need it actually. So many vets are sponsored by processed pet food brands, It is disgusting.

      @Geebax2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      There is nothing wrong with feeding your dog good quality kibble. The problem is finding good quality kibble to start with. The best advice I can give is to NEVER feed your dog kibble you can buy in a supermarket. We only feed our 6 dogs Royal Canin Professional food, that is only available direct from RC. They get one cup in the morning, and a full raw chicken carcass in the evening.

    • @goveggie0395
      @goveggie0395 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Geebax2 yes there are good kibble brands. You just need to find the brand that is good for your dog. My dog didn't do well on royal canin for example. My dog gets kibble in the morning from edgard cooper and at night he gets raw meat. But many vets in these commercial videos say that kibbles are much better but I do not agree with that. With raw meat it is easier to give variation and most dogs react better to it. So does my dog. The fact that they are sponsored to dislike raw meat is just disgusting. Because for most dogs raw meat is a much better alternative. I think the variation is very important.

    • @screwcove9739
      @screwcove9739 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Some is good I just found out by a vet that raw diets are bad for dogs and cats and can make them sick most say they can wat that because they evolved from wolves and lions and stuff like that but there a 30 key differences between dog and wolfs including there ability to digest raw meat

    • @graystonie
      @graystonie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@screwcove9739 Don't listen to your everyday vet, they are taught to dislike raw diets and aren't taught about the benefits. Go find reputable sources with people who actually study nutrition and who aren't sponsored by pet food companies. In most kibbles there is a bunch of unhealthy fillers like different types of flours and carbs, which are NOT necessary nor good for your dog or cat and can lead to loads of health issues. But do your own unbiased research before telling people that raw is bad, and research kibble too while you're at it. A place to start for learning about the benefits to raw is www.gsdstormy.com/ she also has an Instagram. Also a side note: Dog are facultative carnivores meaning they thrive on meat but can survive on plants. Cats are obligate carnivores which thrive on meat and cannot survive on plants nor do they need them in their diet AT ALL.

      Actually your German shepherd doesn't want kibble they put additives in kibble to make it smell like meat or more appealing so that your dog would want it if they didn't do that your dog wouldn't go near it so a lot of people think their dog likes kibble. Believe me dogs go crazy for raw meat. Kibble is junk food

    It is so great that you are doing a raw diet for your dogs! It really is most natural, and dogs thrive on it!
    Just a few tips to help you out:
    1) I would recommend using at least 3 different protein sources. There are different vitamins and minerals in different meats, and variety is key. Try to find other meat sourced than just chicken.
    2) Gizzards and hearts are actually classified as muscle meat and NOT organs. Kinda confusing...but gizzards and hearts don’t secrete. Organs would include liver, spleen, kidney, and brain.
    Other than that, great job! Hope this helps!

      I understand the thought process of feeding a dog what their ancestors ate, but his ancestors were dangerous animals and part of it was because bloody meat is intoxicating to dogs. It's the reason fighting pit bulls were fed bloody meat its addicting and makes them very aggressive and mean. I hope you dont have small children.

      @@bigbad9583 Who told you that a raw diet would do that? Because they are incorrect, dogs thrive for meat there carnivorous animals. And a raw diet doesn't "turn" a dog that's a myth. You really think that someone that fought dogs would feed them raw your most likely incorrect. They would care about the dog enough they'd probably just throw ol'roy out to there dogs on a chain. And most fighting dogs are rehabilitate.

    We have always been feeding raw food to our gsp and she really thrives on it. You are doing a pretty good job as well. My advice is to offer them a variety of meat not just chicken and to add a mineral supplement to make sure they get all the nutriants, especially taurine and l-carnitine which is super important to ensure their health. i feed my both of my dogs raw. They will ALWAYS drop it on the floor so we spent $50 on a steam mop and when theyre done, we steam mop the area where they ate. its quicker and easier than getting on your hands and knees wiping the floor down!

    • @ZazuTalks
      @ZazuTalks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that is a good idea.. need to start doing that. Thank you!

    • @heather368
      @heather368 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      i hate to be that person, but i to have a steam mop, thought it would be a good chemical free option with dogs. Now the research is saying that it really dosent kill the bacteria like it should because the mop isn't held in one spot and can get an area hot enough to kill the bacteria. :( probably could spray the floor with some cleaning spray but that kind of defeats the purpose for what i wanted.

    For a raw diet, you’ll need to feed them 2-3% of their body weight each day depending on their activity level. And on top of that, each day they must have 80% meat, 10% bone, 5% liver and 5% excreting organs. Shown in the video, gizzards and hearts are NOT considered organs but muscle meat. They dont need much vegetables either. And it is important to play around and change their protein, it is also good to have more than 2 or 3 proteins a day:) raw feeding is not hard, you just have to do some research and be willing to learn:)

    • @ZazuTalks
      @ZazuTalks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Remember that feeding raw requires a TON OF RESEARCH. You should always look up multiple recipes for raw food and take from the ingredients depending on your dogs nutritional requirement. VARIETY is key in making your own raw food. Meat, liver, bone, sardines/cod liver oil, a dog safe fruit, a dog safe vegetable, and kelp are the things you should build off of in your dogs diet. Does your dog need intestinal support? Add pumpkin, cranberries, or a high-quality dog probiotic. Does your dog have arthritis? Try golden paste (turmeric, ginger root powder, water, and a bit of black pepper to increase the bioavailability of the ingredients). I could go on forever, but the point is research is KEY to a raw diet. If you get sick from the food you are feeding your dog, it’s your fault. Use an OraPup after feeding your dog to get rid of bacteria on their tongue. When preparing raw food, put on latex gloves so that you won’t get sick from the raw meat. To be extra safe, put on a surgical mask. Wipe down the area that you prepared the food on with wipes that are antibacterial and anti-fungal. I’ve fed my dog raw for nearly a year, and he is better than ever.

    I'm so glad I found this. My sweet girl seems to be suffering from a type of mange that she got from her mother. And I have constantly been looking for a way to cure it. (But you can't really cure it) Then, in the comments of a TH-cam video I was watching, someone had mentioned healing your dog from the inside, out! I didn't know that mange was cause by a suppressed immune system. And if you take care of your dog like this, the problem should go away! So I am beyond happy that I found this. maybe a little too late, but thats how my dog was, until i noticed she had really bad allergies to grain, and the shelter had just heen previously giving her these high end prescriptions to treat it. now she does just fine, but ( again, already may be too late in saying this) take it slowly, but not too slowly. some dogs do better than others, but my dog had the runs throughout the entire week when i first started her, so beware.

      Same happened to my dog, so I looked for advice and found out the chicken had too much sodium in it, we have to read labels and make sure there isn't any added sodium or flavorings in the raw chicken. Their chicken should have 60/65 sodium , anything higher will cause them to have watery stools. I thought she was allergic too cause of all the watery stools , so I switched to a low sodium leg quarters with hardly any skin on it and she does great on it now. We have to read labels on everything. "high quality" Dry kibble in no good. It's cooked in high heat no matter what brand and it only provides about 3 % of the nutrients dogs need, no Bueno. I don; trust the FDA either.

    My dogs are rescues so I slowly transitioned them from bagged food to raw. First I incorporated veggies but I cooked them a little to not upset their stomachs. Wow I had no idea how much dogs LOVE veggies. It was broccoli cauliflower peas carrots green peas spinach and Brussels sprouts all mixed together. 1 cup of veggies and right after 3/4 cup of their hard dog food. I then added eggs. Then I added hard boiled eggs and eventually raw egg. Then chicken and switch chicken and liver every other day. It’s amazing my lab went from me putting down the food and waiting a couple hours to eat to excited to eat. After I they eat I give them chews to keep their teeth and breath nice. They have excellent teeth and no bath breath. I see people saying not so many veggies. I’m wondering why??? I do half veggies half meat. 1 cup of each they go crazy for the veggies. Coats are so healthy teeth are amazing. And never any bad breath
