The quality, durability, and consistent reliability of the iPhone hardware showed up for the very first time in spades with the introduction of the 10S and 10S Max. That has been consistent up to the present with the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. My take is that Apple’s iPhone hardware division has gotten their act together in spades. Therefore there is no valid reason whatsoever that the iPhone software division has not followed suit. For years now, we the customers have been made to serve as the unpaid test bed for that software division. It is reprehensibly criminal - no ifs and or buts, and it is more than high time it stops NOW!!! Apple has had years to determine a solid estimate of how long it takes to fully research, fully develop, and fully finalize each new introduced iPhone software. If it’s two or three years then that is how they must approach when to begin R&D of a new software to where it will be released in completely finalized form alongside the new handsets which have been produced by the hardware division in that exact manner since 2018. On another equally essential subject: If the 14 Pro Max for the USA market had been produced with a nano SIM card alongside the eSim capability the way all the ones produced for every market across the globe are produced I would have upgraded to one of those models. After a nearly three hour discussion on the day to day experiences of customers utilizing the Apple eSim technology in all the iPhone models that began in the 10S and 10S Max the discussion having occurred with a top advanced support technician at my carrier, AT&T who have three years on all their competitors in supporting iPhones on their system, I learned from the literal horrors revealed that I could never ever subject such a lifeline piece of technology as I need to such a literal “Russian Roulette” unpredictability. The worst case scenario which is NOT uncommon are people being completely cut off of AT&T’s system as though they never ever had a customer account with them. It is inexcusably criminal to the first degree that Apple has so far gotten away scot free unjustly, and criminally discriminating against all of their USA customer base only by forcing them to accept the 14 series of their iPhone missing the nano Sim technology that they consistently, and readily include in all of those same exact 14 series models for all of their other customer base in every single other country around the world including our immediate neighbors on our northern border - Canada! It’s despicably reprehensible, and they need to be held fully accountable and punished for such inexcusable, unjustifiable discrimination.

For the bright screen at night, you can use the “white point” accessibility feature (If the IPhone has it, I only have the Ipad pro for guidance) to make the screen dimmer. And when it comes to faceID, the cameras are not used to detect your face. It doesn’t matter if you use it in the dark since it will unlock the phone using the dot projector or whatever is called.

Love the 14 plus. I wanted something to replace my 6.8" android phone (also using an xr). I'm moving from android to ios (6 years of updates).
USB c is a pain. Six categories of different cables. Larger USB c port gets dirt stuck in more easily than lightning, more easily scratched around the sides than lighting, not as easy to insert. And I have lightning cables that don't need replacing if I stick with lighting (lightning dac mmcx for tip audio for example).
I don't need faster charging or data transfer.
So, iPhone 14 plus for me!
I had my XR since 2018 and was contemplating between the 13 Pro and 14 Pro. Ending going with the 13 Pro and I do not regret my decision. It’s the last iPhone with the regular notch and I got it because I just didn’t think there was that much of a difference between the two worth upgrading. I got it in gold and it’s literally the best, will probably have it for at least 3-4 years.
100% agree on the lighting! Fricken switch to USB-C. We have raw photos and then it takes forever to offload them and the higher quality videos.
I turned off the always on display on my 14 pro and the batteries improved so much

Yup, I'm in the same boat. I'm coming from the Note20U, which is a fabulous phone. No regrets, though. I love my iPhone 14PM, but it sure can use the improvements you list. Were it not for my 16" M1 Pro, I probably would've gone with the Pixel 7 Pro. Apple's ecosystem is hard to beat. Currently waiting to replace my Galaxy Watch with the Series 8! It's a domino effect, right? You get one thing right and, voila, your other products come attached. Brilliant, if you're about the bottom line!
last year with my 13 pro max i was getting 10-15 hour of screen of time with 15.3.1 and it was amazing! and then ive got the 14 pro max and was disappointed about the battery. Probably just not optimized 100% like that 13 pro max was!

My 14PM has about 12 hours screen time at the minimum. Otherwise it’s about 13-15 hours for me

Aside from split screen they should also add a feature lowering or gaining volume to their airpods

Hard agree on iPhone 11 Pro Max as the most remarkable Pro Max. It brought a lot on the table and the successors are just bumped up versions of it. Waiting for a redesign before upgrading my 11 Pro Max.

I went from 13 PM to the 14 PM. Regret it a little.. the 13 PM was far better optimized as it look now.. the 13 PM camera was better in my opinion, the 14 PM loses detail on the whole picture except the focus point. I’ve tried every setting but the 13 PM keeps making better pictures. Also the battery life drains faster. Sometimes the battery drops 1% per minute while not using heavy apps or something. While using google maps the battery drains sooo quick, and the phone gets really warm. Haven’t had that problem on the 13. Apple replaced my phone but the problems are still here, so I believe it’s just the phone.. and that for this price tag. Can’t name any things which are better on the 14 PM than on the 13 PM. Save your money..
It would be nice if the dynamic island is moved all the way to the top just like the notch but it’s the pill shape.
I wish they would have put some digital zoom on the telephoto lens. Its a great phone, and I get great battery life.
I still can’t get my head around how first it was the notch and now it’s how much the “dynamic island” f**ks with peoples heads so much..just for a few months later them quite liking it
When I saw the dynamic island in photos I thought it would be a distraction more than anything. It doesn’t go away or blend in with the frame like the notch
I disagree. Went from 12 mini to 14 pro max. The notch seemed far more distracting to me and I kind of wished they had just made it only for system icons and made content adhere the area below. The island isn't a perfect solution but it frees up a lot more real estate around it, so it actually feels like I'm getting something out of the deal.
Disclaimer: the notch is pretty much the same absolute size on all models, so the 12 mini has the maximum notch to screen ratio. Even the 13 mini has the newer notch style that's thinner and slightly taller. So maybe if I had the 12 pro max I'd think more favorably about the notch. But as is it seems far more intrusive than the island.

Yo! Got a 14 Pro Max in December (switched from XR). And the battery life has been ok, I expeced a lot more from the device. Other than that it's a solid phone. Not a hint of overheating or anything like that, the performance is really smooth. The cameras are superb, took a couple of night sky pictures and was blown away, thought it was not real! The phone itself is overpriced IMO, but it is nice to use. Also, after my XR the pro max does feel big, but not as big as I expected, it is 100% usable. In conclusion I'll say that it's just a cool new toy.

@@andrewmg121 the battery life from the xr to the 14 pro max will be a highly noticeable upgrade. I upgraded from the 11 to 14 pro and it surprised me and had excellent battery life. The pro max will be superb
Same here, when I upgraded from the XR to the 14 Pro Max I was amazed on how much better the battery life was compared to my old phone. I can easily get 10 to 11 hours of screen on time before having to charge it.

The battery is ok, compared to my flip and fold 4’s. 13 pro max tho was way better! Also after like a month my 14 pro max started getting above average warm, charged to like 80% then says it stops because it got too hot. Have to unplug it then let it cool for 5 min plug it in then it’ll finish . The purple kinda sealed the deal for me tho 😂 I’ll likely be trading the fold 4 for the 23 ultra tho.
I just ordered this phone and am now having buyers remorse before receiving. Previously used Samsung as my primary. No multi-task, inferior battery charge time and weight are dealbreakers for me. These shouldve been an easy fix for a phone at this price point.
I had 11 pro max before and I got the iPhone 14 pro max last week and I regret so much😢 I hate the bizarre dynamic island thing on the screen, it annoys me a lot while playing games or watching videos with a black thing floating on the screen. And the phone itself I find too heavy with inconveniently huge lenses. I should have picked the Plus model 😢
Maybe you could return it or sell it in order to buy the plus. Or you may even do a trade-in for the plus being cheaper.

how its too Heavy when weight difference just 14 grams? its happen when iphone X with Notch comingout and no Home Button or Fingerprint . many iphone 8 users disapproved it either.

I think the best IPhone I’ve ever had was the X, but the 12 PM was epic, but no longer my daily phone but it’s pushed to be a work phone for me… Now 14 PM is my daily,
But one thing not a lot of people have ever commented on, Face ID is no longer requires face masks to be removed, you can register your face with the mask / glasses, and if you have the apple watch* it can unlock your phone.
Switch from iPhone 7 Plus to the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and it was one of the greatest change I've done, Personally there is no issue except for the blank notifications after the 16.2 Updates, other than that, there aren't many issues except sometimes it gets hot for playing minor games
I thought I was the only one with the blank notifications no one talks about it. It's very annoying!

I chose to keep my 13 Pro Max but I know a few friends who have the 14 Pro Max and they tell me the Dynamic Island is quite a nuisance one told me that it gets in the way and the other said I miss the notch.

to be honest i ditch my 14 pro max to 12 pro max,,because of its weight,no complaints in 12 pro max only the smoothness,.once you had 120hz you cant go back to 60htz
My battery life is a beast on my 14 pro max, getting between 12-16 hours of screen on time. Also I don’t understand the big deal about split screen myself. Never really used it when had it with android phone. I also prefer Face ID over Touch ID but that’s my preference
I kind of agree about split screen. I have only very rare instances I might even want to use it. And even when using the z fold 4 which is a multi task beast. I never even use 2 apps at once.
It depends on how you use your phone. The only reason I am returning the iPhone 14 pro max and sticking to my Samsung is because of lack of split screen and not all apps utilizing pip. It all depends on how you use your phone. I need split screen like everyday lol
Yeah, next to no one uses multitasking. And Face ID is far superior.
I use split screen with my Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Fold 3 80% of the time when I'm using the phone beside gaming.

You can disable the Always on display in the settings
Took me a while to enjoy my phone because all the iOS 16 software issues but it’s a lot better now still has issues but I can live with some of them my biggest thing is the battery life it’s not like the 11 pro Max and 13 pro max
How come no one’s talking about the fact that Face ID can’t recognise you for a few moments if you’ve woken up from sleep?

if you can get through a whole day charging slow isnt a big deal - charge it over night or buy a magsafe battery pack

For me it’s the size of the camera array. It takes up a large amount of real estate on the back of the phone and it rocks even with a case.

I also have the 14 pro max but there’s this issue that when turning in the phone you will see a flash of horizontal lines show up. I know it’s a software issue but i really hope apple fix it.
Theres an option where the always on display will be pitch black. Just turn off the wallpaper in the settings

It's kind of strange that iPhones still can't do split screen multitasking when the iPad pros have been doing it for years.
My con is not the phone it’s probably the software being so limited it’s just begin to get stale and not exciting as much hopefully iOS 17 will be a game changer so we will see
Wow, that black oval the top of the screen is such an annoyance to my eyes, I like how the newer android products do pinhole cameras so you can get as much screen as possible.
Is it just mine, but after 2 months of usage, the battery health of my iPhone 14 Pro Max is now only 99%?
It should have been the dynamic notch, rather the dynamic island.
After shifting to android after many many years. I realized a major con for iphone pro max models. I find ergonomically the max difficult to use. Compare large android phones are far easier with more swipes options and just better overall handling of the OS on a large screen. Apple really does a poor job at utilizing the large screen. But at the same time I understand. As soon as they got an OS specific feature only the max. That’s it. People will all jump to the max more than they already are. So i understand to keep things cohesive. But we need better OS navigation and screen management on the max devices. Too much wasted screen

I was thinking to switching to iOS. I was saving for the 14 pro max, luckily I started searching all the differences between iOS and Android and realized how many useful and BASIC things you lose when you switch to android. Now I'll wait for the S23 ultra. Spending 1800€ on a phone just for the smoothness is not worth it when you can't even pause a video while recording

iPhone14ProMax is just too heavy for almost every single user. 300 grams with lightly case and screen protection very quickly it becomes a heavy weight for the hands.. I had iPhone 11 Pro Max (250grams with same protection) and it was OK, but this is not OK… i think 6,5” is perfect display size and 200 grams is a perfect weight.
Whats the battery life like when disabling always on?
It improves slightly still doesn't beat 13 pro max
It uses 0.8% per hour and the black background uses 0.6% battery, the same as any android with AOD

I hear alot of people complain about the battery life on these phones...anything that got me more than 4hrs of screen on time would be other worldly. My S22 ultra is at 52% with 1hr 52mins of screen on time as I type this.
It could be worse...just saying. I can't wait to switch. Cons...sure, but it's GOT to be better than this.
I don't know why everyone complains so much about the battery. The battery is fantastic for me, two whole days without problems.

We don’t need split screen or always on display or reverse wireless charging. Only thing the iPhone needs is to be able to pause video, finger print scanner, and faster wired/wireless charging. That’s it.

After living with a 12 mini for 2 years I’m still struggling with the weight of my iPhone 14 Pro, it seems unnecessary to me. I couldn’t imagine carrying the larger Pro Max especially when the software is so limited. Why would I want a 6.7 inch overweight phone that can’t do split screen along with other software limitations, of course Apple wants you to buy an iPad that has more usable software and yes I carry an iPad mini 6 almost everywhere I go that’s practical. I only got the 14 because I wanted the 3x zoom camera and Verizon gave me an 800 dollar credit for my 12 mini
The weight is unnecessary. The 14 Pro Max could easily weigh the same as the 14 Plus. They should have used that build instead. The weight added, is purely for esthetics, giving a more premium look.
Another guy that says the 14PM has worse battery than 13PM then proceeds to say it's because of AoD and more brightness. Saying stuff like that out loud makes everyone aware of your IQ.

Naw it's the brightness, and 120hz refresh rate display. The iPhone 15 might improve these areas, but.... Keep in mind no iPhone has a quad HD display

Yeah for sure, I don’t hate this phone though so I wanted to make that clear I just don’t love certain features of it.
Human brain also only task switches, though, but tricks us into thinking we are efficiently multitasking. (We are not.) So is it really a con?😅
