I always drain the water separator at the same time. You will find it underneath the driver's side between the frame possible right on the frame inline with the drivers door just open the valve. I use a small glass jar to see the water separate from the fuel
Unscrew the oil filter ahead of time and let it drain while the engine drains and then you wont drip very much. I let mine drip for an hour but that works against the "Quicker Than The Pros" theme. thanks for the vid first and foremost, but you have to check out the FoMoCo guidance on CK-4 oils in Powerstroke motors...you're not supposed to use it. CJ-4 or the Motorcraft oil only. Look for the bulletin that came out in 2016 when CK-4 hit the market. It doesn't lube your motor worth a DAMN, and voids warranty, etc.
Is that Delo stuff Dino or Synthetic? First PSD guy I've ever seen use that. I change mine every 5k miles with Rotella T6 Fully Syn. I was using the 15W-40 for some time. But then they came out with a 5W-40 (Both T6). So I switched past few oil changes to the 5W-40. I think both are equally superior oils. (Both CK-4 rated now). 5W better for colder starts than the 15W. I'm in Jersey, so it doesn't really get brutally cold. But I noticed the past few years that big box stores in my area are readily carrying the 5w-40 rather than the 15w-40. I dunno. Since the truck was 50k miles young (at 100k now), I have sent samples out to Blackstone for analysis. Whether I was using the 15 or now the 5, I get equally outstanding reports. ......And FYI for the guy below who commented on CK-4 vs CJ-4 (which is what Ford spec'd "at the time"). CK-4 has since superseded the CJ-4 rating by API. In other words, you are going BEYOND Ford's recommendation with a CK-4 oil. www.api.org/news-policy-and-issues/news/2016/11/18/new-api-certified-diesel-engine-oils-are
adding oil to the filter housing will do nothing.... The first thing u do when u start your oil change is loosen the oil filter cap all the way.... When u do this it opens a drain back valve and allows the oil thats in the housing to go back to the pan, pouring oil in the housing before putting the filter back in only goes right to the pan..
You should always let your engine sit for 15 to 20 mins after running so all the oil can settle to the bottom and you can make an accurate measurement. 😉
Hey man I saw you have the H&S tuner. Where can I find the tunes for this unit. It came with my truck but no tunes loaded and because of that I can’t change my tire size to adjust speedometer or anything. Any help would be awesome!

You ever have any high idle issues with the 6.4?I'm bypassed with mini max..drives fine..idle is very high in park and sometimes revs out and I have to kill the engine...
Is the installation of a new 'core adapter' white maltese cross looking piece in the oil filter important each time? I have not a video explaining that.
Found a 6.4 for a great price! Guy told me the water pump replaced and drain and fill on coolant, both fuel filters replaced and the fuel water separator bowl took apart cleaned, and reinstalled. The truck is all stock and has 248k miles. The truck is nice except for a ding here and a scratch there and a hole in the driver's seat. It's a lariat to. Really uncertain. Any advice
How did you get the Mini Maxx to come on from the key? I tried following the instructions for a keyed power source for mine, but no matter what, it wouldnt come on with the key. Have to manually turn it on
Taylor I just bought a 2010 6.4 Harley davidson I only drive it on the weekends have i put under 3K miles in 1 year do you think i can get away with doing the oil and fuel filters every 9 months?
I also have a 6.4 and have always done my own oil changes. I get it done faster and cheaper AND I don't try to sell myself a filter that I dont need. I also moved from California to Illinois so I'm going to 10-40 for the winter.
sherlockhomesky make sure you have the correct oil cap. The first time I changed the oil on this truck it had an aftermarket filter and cap and I installed the Motorcraft filter with the aftermarket cap and the light came on every time I started it. It's very hard to tell the difference, but the cap is the problem for sure. You can pick up a Motorcraft cap on eBay for about $17 I think.
@@TaylorSmithCarsI never thought of that, bought the truck used so there is good chance it has the wrong cap. I appreciate the response! Did you ever get around to moving the ebp sensor after your egr delete? I have deleted mine through a tuner but still have the hardware installed and I'm dreading the task
sherlockhomesky Definitely give the oil cap a try. I haven't gotten around to moving the EBP sensor yet. I've been so busy that I keep telling myself I don't have time to do it, but I really need to. The truck is fine as of right now though. I am going to make a 1 year update video soon about the egr delete and will be answering some questions I have received about it in the video.

Why are we racing to get it done fast?
My owner’s manual says 15 quarts that’s 3 -1/2 gallons not 2-1/2 ....
Or am I reading it wrong ????
8541DAD 14 quarts is 3.5 gallons, that is why I had the one individual quart totaling 15 quarts between all 3 containers in this video.
I assume the engine is hot right ?...You know so the oil will come out faster...?
Yes, I drove it to the store to grab the oil and filter to get it up to temperature.
