- Foreign ministers from a group of emerging economy nations, known as BRICS, are meeting in Cape Town.
Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa are expected to discuss the expansion of the bloc.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is among those attending.
More than a dozen nations have expressed interest in joining the group.
BRICS nations have positioned themselves as an alternative to western geopolitical dominance.

The West chooses to forget that the world's largest DIAMOND, discovered in South Africa in 1905, was given to the British monarchy and has been in its possession since. And that in 1886, the world's largest GOLDfields were discovered in South Africa.
Seeing what the Evil West did to Zimbabwe and now Russia, the advise I would give to my government is to start Delinking the Rand/ZAR from the Dollar and Link/backed it to our mineral resources we have ,i.e. Gold, Diamond, Platinum, Iron Ore, Coal, Natural Gas, Sun and etc).
This way, we will be able to use our own currency or BRICS DIGITAL CURRENCY backed by these natural resources to do business with each other. Believe me, this is the most effective weapon against the West hegemony.
I highly doublt they are going to arrest Putin. Russia is a major trading partner for South Africa, and cultural ties are strong since the USSR helped fund the anti-apartheid movement.

In regarding to India and China territories dispute , its the results left over from colonial times , also because of China supporting Pakistan, also make India “hate” China, other than that, the 2 countries have many many common in foreign policy, they has been good neighbors for more than 3000 years until the British came, they divided Indian into many states (divide and conquer), supported Tibet independence… together with 13 western powers+japan, they robbed Chinese territories, seized ports and rich coastal areas of China, took advantage of the weak Qing regime.

Where the G7 is a collection of the largest developed economies and is strongly Western-aligned, BRICS is a bit of a counterpoint, bringing together the largest developing economies. As such, both could easily expand their membership. South Korea could easily ascend to the G7, restoring the G8, especially considering the nation now has a larger economy, according to the UN, than the former member, Russia. Beyond that, Australia stands as the next biggest economy after Russia despite its small comparative population and would be an obvious choice for a G9 and together they would strengthen the organization's presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Beyond that, a tenth member could easily be made up of Spain or the Netherlands as the 14th and 17th largest economies in the world, though these are more of a stretch.
Now BRICS has obvious room to expand as non-Western-aligned developing economies are increasingly claiming space in the top 20 largest economies. The largest economy so far not mentioned or already part of one of the two organizations is Mexico as the 15th largest economy, though its membership is a bit more dubious considering its considerable reliance on the United States. Should BRICS pivot as a more overtly anti-Western bloc, I can't imagine Mexico would ever align with it, but Mexican membership may give American leverage in the organization, weakening its cohesion beyond economic cooperation. After Mexico, Indonesia as the 16th largest economy is a strong contender and could be a positive source of tension reduction between India and China by providing guarantees regarding the safeguarding of the straight of Malacca. After that, Saudi Arabia and Turkey make up the 18th and 19th largest economies, though their historically Western alignment may complicate their ascendance. That said, BRICS may provide Erdogan with a forum to counterbalance Turkey's Western-leanings, something he has sought to do to project Turkish power in the Middle East and Central Asia. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, has shown significant interest in balancing its Western tethers with cooperation with the East and would likely be willing to expand this further even if it risks upsetting its Western partners.
Finally, Switzerland as the 20th largest economy will be neutral and join nothing.

A really disparate group of countries with no uniting ideology or core common interests except that it is neither the EU or the USA. Hard to see how it can succeed I think. BRICS was originally just a name for the original named subject emerging economies. Some of those, notably RSA have stumbled badly.

Since they are connected to Germany that was the strongest economy. EU US make a small % in the world 80% arent following sanctions and many still doing business with Russia for crucial resources that only Russia has. Realistically, South Africa has no business being in the group. It's economy is a quarter of the size of the next smallest economy in the group, Brazil, and its economy has stagnated for over a decade now
South Africa has vast natural resources gold, platinum, uranium you name it.

And secondly, its vast reserves don't have the funds to actually extract substantial amounts of these resources. SA's largest export by value is Platinum, and second is Gold, but much of its mining methods are dated and underinvested in, especially as instability scares off investors, and its Uranium reserves practically produce nothing for the economy. These could be great boons to help fund and kickstart a manufacturing economy, but its wealth has been squandered for decades and SA remains entirely dependent on foreign imports.

It's a nice idea with too many flaws. BRICS is inherently doomed. The dollar economic system needs serious competition to improve functionality and provide financial services to more who need it. BRICS is run by the Saudis in tight cooperation with the Chinese. The Saudi and Chinese governments are notorious for unethical, predatory business practices. I can see how they, like their dollar counterpart, will abuse the new system to control and enslave weaker states. This is a sad thing.
Oh just like what the West does right, how about invading Iraq 🇮🇶, Syria 🇸🇾, Afeganistan, Libya 🇱🇾 etc to maintain the petroleum dollar.
