Best part about the current US run system is: $32 trillion in debt, US credit score to drop for a second time to AA+. The USD is tethered to oil which is the ONLY reason it has any value still. 90% of the US stock market is owned by 10% of its citizens. Multiple recessions because of the shenanigans US banks are doing. I could go on, the government shutting down over and over because of failed budget negotiations. The main difference is West alliance based on countries with same idealogy, people and shared history. BRICS is so different, trying to collaborate on common goals.
All the BRICS countries share one very important problem. -The West. Continually attempting to suppress their growth, control their national resources. Destabilise those governments that isn’t following the Wests orders trough funding extremism groups etc…

I disagree. Many politicians around the world thought the EU experiment would fail as well - for the same reasons. A German friend explained it to me like this: A person from Tennessee and a person from Georgia here in the states might disagree on something but they're still US citizens and would fight together in a war if they must. A Frenchman and an Italian who have beef and then have to saddle up on the battle field? Kinda dicey. Not to mention the competing interests of each individual country and that country's internal politics. Yet here we are and the EU is still running fairly well despite it's issues. BRICS might be having trouble at the moment but I would not count them out. We should take BRICS seriously, in my opinion.
While I share India's concerns about China's attempts to convert BRICS into an arm of their own soft and hard power, I genuinely hope that overall this can rise to be a real competitor to the Western economic order. I say this as an American, but not as an elite. I do not benefit from Wall Street's hegemonic control over global finance, but I would benefit from it being challenged.
Don't worry, China is its own biggest enemy when it comes to Soft Power. They cannot get over their inferiority complex which betrays their ham-fisted ways. "I do not benefit from Wall Street's hegemonic control over global finance," Yes you do. Wall street affects the US economy and you are active in the US economy. You benefit from America's dominant position in global affairs, it is what keeps your gas and commodities cheap and you living in luxury unparalleled to the vast majority of the world. You have to be extremely myopic to think that as an American, America does not benefit you.

China has a two tiered currency system which A) has been incredibly useful for them in manipulating the currency value allowing them to become the world manufacturing HUB and B) is not a free floating currency. In order for this de dollarization to be anything other than political posturing China would need to open it's currency to the markets to even contend with the USD. Africa should unite with itself, but unfortunately it's run mostly by warlords and foreign-backed junta's. The west exploited and destroyed Africa in the early days, now other foreign actors are making sure that status quo does not change. We all carry a big responsibility for what has and is happening in Africa today.
In order for BRICS to succeed, each country would have to start unifying their policies. For example, in order to have a shared currency, they would have to unify their monetary policies. Otherwise, one country could just mass print the BRICS currency and cause hyperinflation. I don't see this happening any time soon given how different each country is when it comes to economic theory and policy.
BRICS members already said that every country can use their own currency, it will not be the same model like the dollar to obliterate and treath weaker countries.

I have to also question the long term position of Italy and Japan in G7. Each for different reasons. Italy: could they be the next to exit the EU? Japan is an aging country, a mature economy that desperately needs stimulus. That stimulus is not likely to emerge from the West. And Japan largely has good relationships with current BRICS member states. Could BRICS be an attractive alternative for them over the next 15 to 20 years? I am going to watch this space with great interest.

People are mentioning the differencies between BRICS interests and also disputes between members, but there are multiple differencies between G7 members. Sholud i remember people of BREXIT? the disagreements between trumps adminstration and EU countries over NATO and climate change? Germany and France disagreement on closing a Trade deal with Mercosur.... Like any other group, that will always be multiple interests, this is absolutely normal
The degree of the disagreements is not the same and it's intellectually dishonest to pretend otherwise. The G7 members didn't have soldiers at each other's borders beating each other with sticks and rocks.
Did any of that involve G7 nations having military engagements with each other? Because that is what has happened between India and China in 2020-2022, with no real reason to think there won't be more on the way. I don't think that those two countries are going to just drop the whole border dispute, shrug off the KIA soldiers, and become allies just to spite the West. And I don't think Brazil is a sure thing for BRICS by any means. Their new government is a change in political direction which may result in a different geopolitical outlook. But, in general, Brazil has cooperative relationships with the United States and other Western countries. Perhaps one of the most important of these is the fact that Brazil's air force uses Swedish Gripen fighters. If your best fighter jets are supplied by a country that is joining NATO, that kind of limits how much you want to court countries like Russia and China.
Brics is Russia and China trying to create a system where they have bigger leverage in some situations, and that it will be harder to san ction them when they occupy the next country.

If BRICS or BRICS+ countries start to use local currencies for international trade then Dollar will almost lost it’s status as strong reserve currency.
The dollar is used as the world reserve currency exactly because it is stable and every country trusts its value. The only way any other currency, let alone currencies supersede it would require the US economy collapsing, which is not going to happen any time soon.
@@serebii666 But when BRICS+ countries will start to use local currencies numerously for cross border transaction then they will hold less dollar as reserve currency than before, because they are now bypassing dollar using local currencies and then systematically dollar will lose it's value that will crash US economy gradually and one day suddenly.
@@Musafir1333 That's not how international trade works. And especially in the Context of BRICS, where the Chinese RMB is extremely manipulated, that will not happen. Let me break it down for you, since you obviously do not understand how international trade works: to trade between countries with different currencies, both parties need to come to an agreement on the value of their goods or services in their respective currencies. But especially for countries with highly manipulated currencies, like Russia and China, there is no trust in the value of their currencies. So the countries choose a currency that everyone can agree on its value. And that is exactly why the US dollar is so powerful, because of all the countries in the world, only the US has an economy and therefore currency so robust that everyone can rely on it to maintain its value. It is also the reason why international trade is conducted in the LEAST amount of currencies possible, to keep that trust high, since keeping track of currency fluctuations is a great ordeal. None of the BRICS countries have economies or currencies robust enough with institutions stable enough and governments trustworthy enough to maintain the trust necessary to use their currencies. It is exactly the reason why ALL of the main global currency reserves are in currencies of economically developed, democracies, rule-of-law obeying countries. "systematically dollar will lose it's value that will crash US economy gradually and one day suddenly." There would be nothing sudden about shifting the entire global economic order. Even the worst crisis to hit the value of the dollar, the 2008 Recession, did absolutely nothing to change the reserve structure of the world. And when we look historically, it took the UK pound 100 years and national bankruptcy brought on by fighting WW2 to lose to the dollar, after the US had already eclipsed them economically for decades, and they are still the 3rd largest reserve currency today. I'm sorry, you are just plain delusional. You really have no concept how economies, let alone global commerce operates, in the modern day or historically.

If you lool at G7 in comparison, their meetings regularly have very tangible consequences. What did BRICS do so far besides making headlines? And a shared BRICS currency - lol c'mon, who would want China to dictate their finances?

I sense a clear sense of concern and urgency in your words, but this situation is indeed occurring. I understand that it may be difficult for individuals from Europe and America to accept this information. It makes me curious to know who would place their trust in the statements the media and the governments share with your citizens this time, considering the numerous falsehoods that have been told over the years.😏
This should honestly be a good thing, but has no one noticed how Russia has been straddling the fence and will continue to take advantage of both economic systems post BRICS? This might as well be called the RC, or rather the CR since China has more financial girth than all of them no matter how much they expand. I think they will sill have the strongest leverage and despite how it looks they will run things. I fear that India and Africa will be further marginalized by the CR agenda.
The big issue is to consider BRICS as alliance, that cannot be further from the truth. Yes 5 countries share one thing in common - they are sort of second place winners in the world economics and politics. So in that sense they are similar to G7, but the difference is that countries in G7 shares values and are in some form of alliance outside of G7. Hence I always find it ridiculous when people compare BRICS army size to NATO... simply said, there will never be conflict where we find BRICS on one side and NATO on another. Brazil will never join any war with South Africa in Africa and vice versa, South Africa will never join in war in South America, neither of them will join wars in Europe, nor Asia. Likewise India won't fight wars in Europe, Africa or South America. So what we just established that BIS of BRICS will never be in direct conflict with NATO. This leaves China and Ruzzia that have imperial goals of world domination, or at least they want to site at the table with US when it comes to world domination in 3 ways (perhaps 4 is we count EU). But here is the kicker - China and India is basically at low intensity war, both works against each other in strategic sense (check out string of pearls vs. necklace of diamonds policy). China and Ruzzia actually both have claims to far east and nearly went to war over it and likely would go at it again. In short BRICS cannot be more divided, each country has different policy, different strategy and compete with other countries again the think they have in common is their "developing" vs. "developed" status. And as well I would say it should be BRITENKS and not BRICS, because there is huge list of over countries like Nigeria, Turkey or Egypt that are on the same level from pure development sense. So what BRICS agrees on? They only agree on general principle of globalisation and they all agree that protectionism is bad. That is all, it is probably closer in concept to OPEC, where exporting, resource rich nations are trying to agree on forming a cartel against importing nations. The only problem is that OPEC has single product, so they can all agree on policy, whereas BRICS all have different products and resources, so they can't even decide on policy themselves. Both India and China are heavy oil importers, Ruzzia is heavy exporter... same goes for other commodities. At best BRICS exists to prevent each nation to stepping onto each other toes and it isn't even very successful in that... so it is long way from world dominating force. As well it is quite funny to say BRICS represents 40% of world population... I mean.. yeah - China and India alone are 32%... problem is - population does not matter. As well it would be fair to say that G7 Represents much more than just 7 states, it certainly represents all NATO and EU members as well.
That's also its strength, it does not try to dominate the world. But create a more open system, that does not demand loyalty to one system. The western system has exactly failed in its cultural imperialism, where cultural dominance has been enforced.
Its also exactly not a military block, like NATO is. NATO exists solely to advance its members economical & political goals, and this type of military oppression always fails in the end. BRICS had learned from the failings of the western alliances.
@@Nobody-Nowhere well, I agree that in some instances NATO went beyond it's "defensive nature". But it is indeed was created primerily to deter ruzzian/soviet agression against members... which it did well. So not sure how you define failure... if you say NATO failed as "imperial aliance"... then yes, because it isn't one and failure just proves it isn't.
Brics doesn't want to be like NATO or the EU, they don't even have to agree on everything I just don't get why the West is so obsessed at the idea of BRICS which doesn't threaten them.
@@lp9280 No military block can ever be purely defensive. And NATO is clearly not defensive, like currently its "containing china" is openly discussed when NATO tries to expand to accomplish this. There would not be a need for BRICS, if the western project had not failed. West had its change, but all they tried to do is to dominate everyone else. This is exactly why BRICS has chosen a totally different approach. It seeks mutually beneficial relationships, instead of dominance of the strongest.
Very important: 2 states are dictatorships. That is why BRICS will never be able to compare with the G7. The rule of law, democracy, human rights are values that BRICS hates. Example: citizens of the BRICS states would like to live in the G7 states but not vice versa! And that says a lot.
Can people in the West see beyond their definition of democracy. Our obsession with having only democracy as the West wants the world to practice has led to where we are today. Please ask yourself a question. In how many countries has democracy suceeded and why has it failed in most countries. You cannot expect democracies with hungry stomach, corruption, poverty so deep that the poor have to beg in front of exploitative loan sharks and rampant criminality. Most countries in the world are not democracies because the west that wants a democracy does nothing for the poor but lecture and horang about rule of law. And who says BRICS hates rule of law. I am from India and I can tell you that even when individual governments sidestep rule of law courts regularly pull governments up. Only few days ago our highest court appointed judges and police officers as a part of an investigation into violence in one part of India. These judges and police officer directly report back to our top court. So my friend picture is not as simple as you describe.

Yea, so BRICS is not the anti G7. We keep seeing these video pop up and in reality the BRICS countries don't really trade with each other they only trade with China. There is a chance that India, Russia, and China could have formed anti-American coalition. However, each country have deep seeded suspicion of one another and can't work well together.
Well - they meet for their own currency in august2023 1 must be extremely strong & smart & brave & cruel to win against 7. I think the West is cruel enough.
I would've thought the main issue on whether it will be a success or not depends on the creation of trusted institutions and rules to back it up. Something neither China nor Russia are particularly good at.

BRICS is not especially relevant anymore as a club of up and coming countries. 4 of the 5 countries are not really growing as economies anymore and don’t appear to be likely to in the near future. Only India is thriving. Expanding it could be interesting though for new development ideas. If the want to become a World Bank and IMF alternative they cannot just serve themselves.
You are talking as if countries in BRICS do not know this. Their first aim is to make parallels of US Treasury. BRICS has paralles of IMF and World Bank already.
G7 population don't know what it is to live in over populated countries, 20%+ inflation, violence, poor education and so on, BRICS is the underdog that will rise to antagonize this lavish life style thw west have being living in. Greetings from Brazil.
Very very simple explanation. After ww2 Bretton Woods agreement. Basically the worlds reserve currency would be the US dollar backed by gold. US economy was spending far too much money triggering a cause of concern from other countries. These countries then demanded the US pay them back in gold, which the US would never do. Fast forward to 1971 when Pres. Nixon abandoned the gold standard and effectively removing responsibility for the US gov't atrocious spending habits. This effectively made the US dollar a fiat currency. Fiat: Latin term meaning a mode of echange in circulation through the use of force. Think of it this way.. When Governments need money the Central Bank prints money to loan to the Fed Reserve. The Federal reserve agrees, and in turn gives the central bank IOU's in the form of government bonds. Other countries buy US government bonds in order to falsely manufacture a weak currency so more financially affluent countries will trade with them. It is all about control. I applaud BRICS for getting out of the totalitarian regime of Central Banks and the Federal Reserve. Also think of it this way. The first dollar the Central bank ever loaned into existance was paid back with interest. If only one dollar was loaned into existance how was that debt repaid with interest? The answer, the interest was created out of thin air. In order for our economy to exist debt must come first. In order for new money to be created, debt must be created first. We are then new slaves, we just arent persecuted by our color anymore rather by a system meant to control us.
Competition is a good thing, so the existence of both Brics and the G7 will likely have more benefits than negatives. Brics will likely face more challenges then the G7 as the G7 are closely aligned on western democratic principles and share similar goals. Whereas the Brics countries are vastly different to one another.
Best part about BRICS is that they don't plan failure of non-member states.
But they plan to kill their own minority especially the killer Modi and Xi.
Any other system would at least have the ability to function correctly and legally. Good luck with the dollar!

Which is the reason they won't be able to create an alternative currency to the Dollar nor gather enough weight to rival the G7
China has no intentions of ever doing this since making it's currency free floating would instantly see the value soar and hurt all domestic manufacturing.

Dear DW , please correct your map of India at 6:11. Why you are showing indian states of arunachal pradesh and j&k as part of china?
In order for BRICS to succeed, each country would have to start unifying their policies. For example, in order to have a shared currency, they would have to unify their monetary policies. Otherwise, one country could just mass print the BRICS currency and cause hyperinflation. I don't see this happening any time soon given how different each country is when it comes to economic theory and policy.

"The Global South" needs another alternative platform other than the Western led-institution. But BRICS is not meant to challenge the G7 or any other Western led platforms. It is here to balance the world order, the way all things should be. And when the time comes BRICS will be an inseparable partner for the western-led institution
I love the concept of BRICS, and I hope the bloc expands aggressively too. I will be most pleased if it manages to attract a few more European countries too. @@ycplum7062 there is way less disagreements between the BRICS then that is between G7.
G7 its a much more complex relation

I sense a clear sense of concern and urgency in your words, but this situation is indeed occurring. I understand that it may be difficult for individuals from Europe and America to accept this information. It makes me curious to know who would place their trust in the statements the media and the governments share with your citizens this time, considering the numerous falsehoods that have been told over the years.😏
What are u saying ??

How powerful is G7 and what does it want
Yes, good point!
Yet more countries want to join brics😂
@@aniruddhrajendran7570 yea I mean...agree to most of what u said. But understand the fact that India is an exception. It's a nation with per capita of less than $5k and still a democracy...there's actually never ever been a nation like that other than us.
We are the way we are because of our ancient long standing culture and values. This can't be said for others. Russian sponsored terrorists arent they ?
A brittle partnership between partners who don't have long term cooperation in mind but taking each other over. Countries also which are cultural incompatible to each other who don't like foreigners and harbour hostile feelings to diversity. Countries who are also military active with invasions plans involving NATO and even military disputes between each other over land.
That's what I was thinking. Even if they wanted to do something, no way they are able to even cooperate enough to agree on a plan. And if by some miracle they did, they'd all shirk their parts, try to figure out ways to steal money, et cetera.
Each of those countries are more diverse than the whole Western world.
Well - they meet for their own currency in august2023
1 must be extremely strong & smart & brave & cruel to win against 7.
I think the West is cruel enough.
I would've thought the main issue on whether it will be a success or not depends on the creation of trusted institutions and rules to back it up. Something neither China nor Russia are particularly good at.
These countries have so many problems. SA - 20% of adults have HIV, Russia - the war, sanctions, aging. China - aging. Brazil - stagnating economy since 2010, India - overpopulation, bad health conditions, very low income. I hope they will manage to achieve something.

Right now Russia, China, and South Africa is going to need a bailout form America. There in no economic shape to help anyone. Only India is doing ok, but that's because it staying out of all wars and politics.
First the BRICS must have a non-aggression treaty between all nations of the group.
Second, the BRICS must build a common payment system for interbank transfers.
Third, the BRICS must expand the NDB to become equal to the IMF or WB.
Fourth, BRICS countries must have a preferential trade for core technologies and critical minerals like Oil, Gas, Metals like Cobalt, Silicon, Nickel, Rare Earths etc.
Fifth, the BRICS members must work together for a common program in the UN to change the global financial system.
The dollar is so strong. It is a beacon of strength among all the other weak currencies. No wonder it has the position of reserve currency and likely will for centuries.
G7 many them fall...german, canada and Japan.
Most G7 nations are on inflation & facing economic problems.
